I would have given 5 stars but the last cat I adopted from them poops outside the box every time and has recently started to pee outside the box after we've had her for over a year. That is new behavior so nobody's fault. I am working with her on it. With the pooping outside the box, I don't think they were upfront with me that this cat had a liter box problem. read more

I fostered for them for a little while. They we're absolutely terrible and stuck up. They came off like cats and kittens were just a dime a dozen and only worth their time if they could make quick money Off of them. They got pissed at me because I picked up kittens from the shelter and was given the wrong kittens (who were much younger and needed bottle feeding) like it was my fault the shelter mixed them up. Then they told me to euthanize my foster kitten because he needed a minor surgery for something that wasn't life threatening and that they'd "pay me back". I ended up adopting him and crowdfunding the surgery which the vet did during his neuter. There are far better rescues out there. Ones that will actually try to save animals. read more

So this is a story all about how my life got flip-turned upside down.... by a new addition to my little family! Let me start by saying that, of course, my new fur baby is definately a five-star boy: but I'm not reviewing him. I specifically want to mention Anna, who I worked with through Petsmart. Not only was Anna patient with my 10,000 nervous-new-mom questions, but she was uniquely helpful in finding the right fit for a small home with an older cat who had never been around other cats. I came to the store on two different days to see five different cats, anxious to pick one that would fit my needs AND bond with my older girl. Despite me showing interest in a few of the kittens already at the Petsmart, Anna asked me a few questions about what I was looking for, and absolutely insisted I had to meet another cat that was available, even going out of her way to work with my very restricted schedule to have him transported to the Petsmart nearest me so I could meet him. Let me tell you: she was absolutely right. Not only are my two kitties absolutely inseparable, they both sleep with their parents every night. Somehow, Anna really knew that he would be the perfect boy for our family! TL;DR: Anna will not only make sure you find a kitty, but the perfect one for you. Trust her. I love my cat and I believe the foster mamma who handed her off to us truly did an amazing job communicating and answering any questions we had. We were so excited to pick up our babe. I spent 4 years working as a vet tech in an animal clinic and that was one of my favorite jobs I have ever had in my life.... That being said I've seen a looooot of suture sites post surgery ... My complaint is to whomever stitched up our barely even old enough to be spayed baby... The worst Frankenstein lookin mess I have ever seen. She had stitches through her nipple and pus teeming from a few spots that were weirdly overlapping causing pockets in her suture site. All is well and we had it taken care of. Again I love our kitty she's a perfect addition to our family but whoever is doing the veterinary care... Slow down these are living things. I left a message about my problem but no one returned my call. read more

I cannot imagine life without our cats, Eloise & Madeline! Cat AdopTion Services made cat adoption a smooth process for us. They have available cats listed online with descriptions of their personalities and pictures, and you can find them either at a foster home or a Petsmart or Petco at various locations listed on their website. My husband and I adopted our kitties last year and the descriptions online made it easy to figure out a good match. It felt good to know that, although they had been at a shelter previously before they were rescued, they were in a loving home with an experienced foster cat mama before we adopted them. They already were microchipped, had their vaccines, and were spayed. The only problem I faced was a slight discrepancy with their flea medicine; I took them home and they had a terrible flea infestation that took a month to resolve. It was a bad summer for fleas though, and they were roaming around the foster home with other cats, so it was a small price to pay for their happiness. I'm still working on getting the microchips registered in my name, and I was told it was already paid for by the foster cat family but the microchip companies asked for money. I really don't mind paying the fees at all, I just wasn't told that initially. Sometimes they have specials. We got our cats for less than $100 altogether because they were running a "black panther" cat special for black cats and it is less $ for adult cats (we adopted a mama cat and her kitten together). They really aren't out to make money. All of their workers are volunteers and they truly just want all cats to find loving forever homes. All in all, this is a wonderful adoption service. and I'm so grateful that we found our kitties through them! read more

I am truly thankful and love SDCats. I adopted my cat through them in 2015, and she's such an angel! When I say I am grateful for them, I really mean it. I will point (and have pointed) my friends who want to adopt a cat to their service. But I will say there are a few things I think could have been better, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. First, my personal experience with them has been wonderful. I saw my cat at a PETsMART near us. The volunteer working at the PETsMART on that day have been really friendly and talked to us about all the available cats there, and their personalities. She was very helpful and willing to answer all of my questions about the cats there. I fell in love with my cat right away and initiated the adoption process. Three days later, I drove her home. My cat has been just perfect. She's been healthy, confident, and loving. I can just tell that she's been treated really well at the foster home. The person who handed her to me also told me all about her food preference and quirks. She also recommended a local vet that I can visit. The cat I adopted from them changed my life. There's really no word that can express my gratefulness to them. That being said, there are a couple of things they can improve. I have recommended 2 of my friends to their service, and one of them have told me about having trouble contacting them when adopting his cat. He told me he heard nothing from them for 4 days after submitted the paperwork via Email. What's worse was that the cat he wanted to adopt was taken off the website during that week. So he was basically left with no information about whether or not he's application was received and thinking that the cat he loved has been adopted by someone else the whole time...A local volunteer in PETsMART helped him out and put him in touch with the person in charge. He successfully adopted his cat eventually. But there could have been more communication in the process. I also think their website could be more informative. It is a bit hard to find out their euthanasia policy and other details on the website. The word "no-kill" is being used very loosely nowadays. All-in-all, given this is a relatively small organization operated by volunteers, I think it is understandable that not all of the works know about all the cats. And sometimes, people get back to you slower. I don't have any doubt about their volunteers' dedication to the cats and truly love them. Just be prepared and know they are not gonna be all perfect. read more

Elizabeth Tracey is one of the most unpleasant people I have ever dealt with in my entire life. She is also extremely unknowledgeable about cats and kittens in general. I have to return a kitten due to an allergy, and in addition to guilt tripping me and calling me a "liar," she also provided me with incorrect information about the allergenic properties about cats. If she doesn't know basic facts about cats, I don't trust her to responsibly adopt out cats and kittens. If you want to rescue a cat, I suggest working with the San Diego Humane Society instead. read more

Great organization that saves so many innocent lives. I adopted a kitten 2 years ago and he's the best thing that ever happened to me & my family. I've never had such an affectionate kitty in my life and they saved him from being euthanized. It's difficult to believe that something so helpless and loving could have been put to sleep for having a cold. He was placed into a fantastic foster home & nursed back to health then I adopted him. I appreciate all that they did for my little babe & if i were to ever adopt again I will come back to CATS. read more

I adopted my very first cat (and pet) from this organization in 2005. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish and he was a "special needs" cat who had a serious heart condition that required medication twice a day. He has since passed away but he brought so much joy to my life and I will be forever grateful to the DEDICATED and hard working volunteers at this organization. My understanding is that CATS goes out of its way to take on harder to adopt cats from high kill shelters. And their cat adoption fees don't begin to cover the cost of the care that most of these cats require (spay/neuter/other various medical needs). Truly a great organization!! read more

My S.O. and I adopted a cat from this agency. I would not recommend them to a friend, and I will not be using them again in the future. The cat was unhealthy when we received him. He had a huge raw spot on his side, and required nearly $300 worth of medicine and care. We could have given him back,but there was no way in hell we wanted to put him back in the care of cat adoption services. We gladly paid the $300 to our vet, in addition to the adoption service fees we had already paid. Our vet told us the person who introduced us to our cat lied to us about why he had a huge raw spot and why he was behaving oddly during our visit. We adopted our cat months ago, however we are still struggling to have his microchip put into our names. We were in contact with a representative from their service, Yiwen Sun. This person told us they had emailed the micro chip company, and would contact us in 2-3 weeks, however we only ever get an update if we write them. The updates are always that they aren't doing anything about it, and are waiting on an email from the chip company. These people are useless and I feel terrible for cats in their care. We were contacted after we adopted our cat and asked how things were going. I informed the person who wrote us of everything I wrote here, but was completely brushed off. They didn't care about any of the concerns we raised. read more

I would like to thank Cat Adoptive Services. I was looking for an older cat who would appreciate a good home and I did. Kateri is already at home in her new home. She is exactly who she said she was. Unusual, but after 1/2 hour of bringing her home she was ready to come out of the crate and meet her new sister who is a dog. They get along famously. When it came to putting her in the crate for the night she cried. That was the only night and last night when I went to bed with my dog on the bed with with me Kateri jump up and laid on my legs. She is eating and drinking well and loves her carpet stand next to the window. She cannot seem to get enough of looking outdoors. She is so content. Thank you very much!!! My husband and I adopted our cats from this truly admirable, dedicated rescue approximately 2 years ago. We also donate to them on a regular basis to help them to continue to do the incredibly valuable work that they do. They are 100% volunteers and ALL donations go directly to save more cats and kittens in desperate need. It saddened me terribly to read the negative review here saying that their vet told them that this rescue was dishonest about their cat's condition. That is incredibly presumptuous and unprofessional for any vet to say if in fact it was ever said. There is literally NOTHING dishonest about this rescue. They do not save only the youngest or the most beautiful cats & kittens. They save every one that they can despite the cost involved and many have suffered severe injuries from human abuse and/or negligence. One of our cats they saved had to have his eye removed from severe abuse. He so deserved to have a loving family and thank goodness that they realized this despite how costly it was for them to pay for the surgery to have his eye removed and all of the follow up care. They do all of this from their heartfelt love for cats in need. They have a sincere and genuine interest in finding the most appropriate home for each and every cat and kitten that they save. I hope that no one will read the negative review and believe any of it-- as it is so far from the truth. My husband and I have developed a very deep respect for this organization since adopting our wonderful cats from them. They are always SO caring and concerned whenever we have reached out to them with any questions at all no matter how much time goes by. There is nothing that I admire more in life than people who help to save animals who ask nothing in return. This rescue and every person involved with it are of the utmost character and integrity. I only wish that people posting ignorant, accusatory reviews would do some research instead of trusting a random vet who likely knows nothing at all about this rescue as we do after knowing them for years now.
