The only reason we chose this location was because they offered "no-contact, curbside pickup". No need to exit my car or interact directly with anyone? Perfect! Now I won't have to strip before entering my house, wash all my clothes and shower as soon as I walk in the door. Unfortunately my experience did not go as advertised. I pulled up, called the number and told them I was there for a pickup. A man came outside to meet me. As I came around to open my trunk, he asked if I had any paperwork for my order. I held up my confirmation email, which included payment information and clearly stated the order had been paid for, and my wife's drivers license (the order was in her name). He took a look at them, thankfully without touching them, and then said "I'm gonna have to meet you out back, but first you have to go inside and see her". Go inside? Seriously? The whole point of this was to be able to remain outside of the building. I didn't bring gloves because I didn't expect to have to leave my car (won't make that mistake again). Whatever, I'll do my best to not touch anything, I guess. Welp, that lasted about 30 seconds. Once I made it inside, the woman behind the counter (who was wearing cat ears, for some reason) requested to see the same documentation I had just shown the man outside, only this time she took them from me. She was not wearing any gloves. Then she had me sign a receipt for my order, which I remind you was already paid for. Once I got back outside, I sanitized my hands and got in my car. Could have been worse, at least now I can go get my car loaded and head home. When I pulled around back, the totally able-bodied man I'd spoken to earlier was not the one handling the pickup orders. Instead, a guy who appeared to be in his 60's (so already in the high risk bracket) was helping another customer. Actually he was watching as said customer loaded a bunch of stuff into his own car. Confused, I waited until he came to my car. He checked my order and reluctantly said "I'm gonna need a hand, I've only got one good shoulder". This poor guy was having to handle all of the day's orders, by himself, with an injury that prevented him from properly doing his job. So what did I have to do? Get out of my car. Re-Enter the building. Load my items into a cart myself. Pull the cart back outside and, finally, load everything in myself. I was furious, but not at him. It wasn't his fault his employers stuck him in that position with no help. At one point I heard the guy mutter "this is fucked up" under his mask. He's absolutely right. It was fucked up. He apologized to me as I went to leave. I said "no worries, man, stay safe". It wasn't him who needed to apologize for this. His boss, who I'm fairy certain is Catwoman from upstairs, owes him and her customers the apology. This place advertised NO-CONTACT CURBSIDE PICKUP, instead I got "Frequent-contact, in-store pickup while we watch". That's like FedEx saying "FREE SHIPPING, ONLY $9.99!". The process was redundant, frustrating and unnecessarily complicated. All they had to do was look at my order, send me around back and have an able-bodied employee there, ready to help. I realize everyone is having a tough time right now, but when something is advertised as being almost entirely safe and turns into something a CDC agent would cringe at, I think it's safe to say it's gone to another level. Well at least now I'm SUPER clean, since I've had two showers today. Silver linings, right?

People entering the store and line constantly. Others needed propane which required him to go outside to get. Questions, answers, obviously it was a zoo. There was only one other person working in the store who was mixing paint. This poor kid was so overwhelmed but handling it so well. thanking everyone for their patience, trying to answer everyone's question. multitasking the best way possible. i have to admit I find it extremely irritating that this establishment was so understaffed for the hour of day as I had to wait a significant amount of time to be helped. I did this, waited 10 mins then looked around and asked for help. 3 different employees told me someone would assist me shortly... 20 mins later- nothing. So, we just left the store. It will be a long time before I go back, if ever. I would up ordering the items from Amazon... they'll be here tomorrow. This is why Amazon wins. It was a VERY UNPLEASANT experience to learn that there is a 90 day window on returns (with receipt) and NO EXCEPTIONS ARE GRANTED FOR A RESELLABLE ITEM such as polymeric sand! As much as corporate America wants to tell you that a chain location is a chain location, I say nay-nay on that one. It very much is not. It was truly a maddening hodge-podge experience of store X having one thing you need in stock, yet store Y will have a different piece but not the same thing as store X so it's almost impossible to physically see or purchase multiple things under one roof at the same time (even for very basic things) since the inventory is so damn varied. That doesn't begin to describe my favorite of the Lowe's website telling you that item X is in stock at store X only to get there and find out that ooops, it's actually not. Of course, the crap consolation prize is that they can always order it but when your contractor wants it today, waiting a week for it to get sent to the store or your house doesn't really cut it. During our long and winding road, we visited (in most cases multiple times) the stores in Bethlehem, Whitehall, P-Burg, Lancaster, both stores in Reading, and Flemington. Phillipsburg for bathroom related items (be it fixtures, vanities, flooring, wall tile, plumbing, electrical, etc.) was easily hands down the best store for selection and for actually having staff that were visible and willing to help. Fantastic assistance from a few of the guys here in flooring and over in paint/stains. Very knowledgeable with what will work/not work and with how things will look when applied. I've been going to the Bethlehem store since it opened many years ago and it is literally not possible to get the same type of involvement from the staff (if you can find them) at that store. At some point in the future after we're able to absorb the hit to the body this project cost us, it'll be time for the kitchen and while I'm sure multiple stores will be needed, we'll be starting at this one.
