Decided to stop and see the new place . And do the Christmas cookie and wine pairing. This place is so much better than their last location. There is a nice bar area , inside seating at multiple locations and outdoor also. Looks like 12 beers on tap and I have even seen tastings of beer . The bar tenders are great , so friendly . The cookie pairing was very interesting, received a cookie goody bag , 5 cookies in all. Each paired with a tasting that would complement each other . A definite place for stopping by for a beer and kicking back . Their beer in stock is of a wide variety and they do have some wine also

Great outdoor patio area with lots of tables and an area for a band to set up for live music. Good selection of bottles and cans from NC breweries and beyond. Parking is pretty limited with about 6 spots directly in front; otherwise you'll need to park on the street. They had about 8 drafts on tap, but wish they'd had more singles available of the four packs they had for sale so you could try one before spending $20.

Love love this venue. If you're from Wilmington you know this beloved business has changed locations over the years. This was my first time at the new location and I was pretty excited to see the owner Steve still roaming around. He's looking a little gray but still wonderful as always. Wednesday night is free wine tasting so I met an old coworker who lives in the neighborhood and apparently is a regular. I was surprised to like all the wines on the tasting menu even though I typically only drink red wine. They also have 4 large coolers of wine and beer for purchase and a rotating food trucks. I think my favorite part is the family vibes. My friend brought her kid and made fast friends with another little one. Everyone was welcome and the energy was contagious.

This place is a treasure in Wilmington. Laid back vibe and plenty if good booze. Best part it's in walking distance of my house. Wall to wall craft beer and wine. There is someone for everyone here just have to take your time and explore. It's like a library filled with amazing books. All of the booze they offer can be purchase and drank on site or taken home. They offer regular food trucks and live music outside with plenty of seating. Inside is a small bar that frequently showcase smaller breweries, wine slushees and once a bacon infuser!! Despite what you may have heard in the news this place is a must visit and I'll gladly continue to support this business because it would be a huge loss to lose Fermental.

Housed inside a restored 1947 Quonset hut -- those curved steel structures originally designed for WWII -- the space manages to feel both industrial and welcoming at the same time. Inside, the high arched ceiling, natural light, plants, and comfortable leather seating create a relaxed lounge atmosphere that feels intentional rather than trendy. Outside, the patio area with string lights and open-air seating gives you a second completely different vibe, perfect for enjoying North Carolina sunshine. The cocktails absolutely delivered. The Brown Butter Old Fashioned is a standout. Brown butter-washed bourbon adds a subtle nutty richness that rounds off the edges of the whiskey beautifully, while the cinnamon bitters and maple bring warmth without turning the drink into dessert. It's creative but still respects the classic Old Fashioned structure -- which is exactly how a riff on a traditional cocktail should be done. The Limoncello Tonic was bright, refreshing, and crisp -- a perfect counterpoint. House-made limoncello with tonic and citrus notes makes for an easy-drinking, sunny cocktail that feels light but still flavorful. Ideal patio drink. Service and presentation appear polished, and the fact that they distill many of their own spirits in-house adds authenticity you don't always get at cocktail lounges. There's also something admirable about adaptive reuse like this. Taking a mid-century industrial structure and turning it into a modern social space is a reminder that good design doesn't have to erase history -- it can build on it. Overall: Excellent atmosphere, thoughtfully crafted drinks, unique historic setting, and a relaxed but upscale vibe. A place that feels both local and special at the same time. A special shout-out to Abigail, the bar back, who had a fantastic system for handling the crowd. Instead of everyone clustering around the bar trying to figure out where the line started or ended, she encouraged us to grab a seat and brought the drinks out when they were ready. It made the whole experience feel relaxed and organized, and it's the kind of thoughtful service detail that really stands out. Kudos Abigail!

I arrived a bit early (so what else is new?) and had an opportunity to speak with the owner and hear his plans for expanding his business. The selection of beers was amazing; being a fan of Darth Vader and the dark side, I discovered a Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout that was heavenly; I tried a few others (light and dark), but always came back to this beauty. They have a real nice selection of wines as well in the vault (place was once a bank) and the food was great. Really nice pretzels (reminiscent of some I had in Germany at a beer garden many years ago) with delicious cheese dip. Salsa (not as spicy as I normally like, but quite good) and different kinds of flat bread. All yummy, all which made me thirsty so I had to get more beer (why I used Lyft to get there and get home). Looking forward to a long relationship with this place. Y'all should try it out.

Also to note, as a personal preference, there is a difference between cold brew, mocha, and drip coffee and I definitely prefer a nice mocha over their drip coffee. I met with the manager recently and you get free refills for drip coffee, and if it is cold brew it is $2.00 because it is a different bean from what I was told. While still relatively expensive, that makes more sense. While a little bit on the pricier side, Drift provides a nice place to eat and enjoy a nice time with others.

Once inside, the floors could've used a good sweeping as well because the same situation was present on the interior floors, both in the customer area and behind the counter. There was also a strong musty/moldy smell, and we couldn't figure out whether it was coming from the visibly dirty drink station, the spots on the ceiling that appeared to show water damage and/or mold, or somewhere else entirely. A fun little mystery we didn't ask to participate in. While looking at the menu, a woman working there approached us with a strange attitude, almost as if we were up to no good for simply reading the menu. We said we weren't ordering food, joined the line, and she immediately snatched the menus away. We ordered a medium iced mocha and a medium iced caramel macchiato. The macchiato isn't actually on the menu, but the barista said she could make something similar to Starbucks' version, so we went with it and were charged for a medium iced latte with caramel. I asked for whipped cream on my mocha, but was told they didn't have any and could offer cold foam instead. I agreed, then noticed I was being charged $0.80 for cold foam. COLD FOAM. At this point, babe, keep the foam. We waited about 10 minutes for our drinks. While waiting, we sat at an empty table, only to be approached by the same woman questioning why we were sitting down and pressuring us to order food. We explained we were waiting for our drinks, declined, and she walked away mid-food turn down with an attitude. Then our drinks were ready. We went to pick them up and immediately noticed a hair sitting directly on top of one of the lids. And the drinks? Both mediocre at best, especially considering the price. There were also several customers walking around barefoot while staff walked right past them without concern. I understand we're in a beach town and shoes sometimes become optional, but this cafe is nowhere near the beach. When people are walking barefoot just a few "feet" away from where food and drinks are being prepared, it's honestly pretty unsanitary looking. I'm not opposed to paying more for good coffee and a nice atmosphere. But mediocre drinks, high prices, visible cleanliness issues, a strong musty smell, barefoot customers, questionable customer service, and a complimentary hair garnish made this an easy never again for us. Unfortunately, I don't see us returning.
