We hired Fermin to fix an exterior wall adjacent to a roofed section. Because we changed from tile to shingle a significant gap had opened up and it left a section opened to the elements. Called and left message for Fermin. Fermin was quick to respond. Fermin kept in communication with me regarding his arrival time. The plumbers had made a hole in the exterior wall to run a new drain. The hole was made of brick, scratch coating, and stucco. To duplicate the covering would have cost a lot of money. Fermin was very thorough in his evaluation. He recommended a waterproof composite that would that would completely fill hole as well as bring the depth of the hole flush with the existing stucco. Fermin kept me updated on each step. Fermin even spot painted other areas for no additional cost as well as fill a smaller electrical hole that needed to be filled. We hired Fermín to help identify and repair water leaks from the stucco. There were multiple points of entry (including the door, old corbel, and we thought the roof). He was very quick to respond, spent a good 30+ minutes looking around opening up drywall, looking at the stucco from the outside. He recommended completing a water test (which he completed) to determine where the leak(s) were coming in. After doing one water test, he made repairs with paper and wiring, then with a weekend of heavy rain the water test failed. He came back and took everything out and replaced it. The second water test passed. He had a crew of three (shout out Mari and the other gentleman!). Of course, after he was out here, we found 3-4 secondary areas that needed stucco, and he was happy to repair these (AC unit, closing off gaps between stucco and the roof). What I appreciate most is his level of professionalism, educating me as a homeowner, and just overall honesty. The price was was very reasonable, and the quality was superb. unfortunately, i need to update my review. the work he did on my house is great, but i referred my dad to him for some drywall work and, after agreeing to do the work, he has not yet followed through. my dad did tell him to do it "at his convenience" but fermin took that to mean that he could show up without calling late one evening. after my dad told him he didn't want him working in his home at night, he said he understood, left, and did not contact my dad as to when he would return. he has not contacted my dad once after having ample opportunity to check his schedule and make good on his agreement to do the job. when i called him on my dad's behalf, he told me he would show up on a saturday that was coming up. he did not call me or my dad to confirm before that date and, when that date came, he did not show up. i called him again and he said that he had a fever and wouldn't be able to make it. he said he wanted the work and would be in touch. nothing 2+ weeks later. don't care if you do good work. you need to follow through on what you say you're going to do. read more
