I was looking for a DJ for my moms retirement party and spoke to Oscar who is the owner and founder of Dustherus. I had called a few other DJ's but after speaking with Dustherus I could tell that the other DJ's were not as professional. The depth of the conversation with other DJ's was: what type of genre they should play and how much they would charge me. I knew that I wanted someone who was going to be able to articulate my needs into more than just a "playlist" which is what most DJ's nowadays do. Rather than that Oscar spoke with me in detail about exactly what I wanted for my party. He took the time to ask me about specific songs, genres, the layout of venue and the age range of the audience. I was amazed at how precise and technical he had gotten. I was really impressed and surprised at how dedicated he is to his work. He told me that for a 4 hour party he would practice for weeks in advance for my event. My sister and I were so happy with how well the party went for my mom's retirement party!! My mom is still young at heart so we had everything from old school R&B to new school hip-hop. To add to it all Oscar has a charming microphone/stage presence. The place was jumping, the sound system sounded great and everyone had a great time. Now, I have a court order for funds that he owes me yet he's refusing to pay. I'm not the first. He's scammed lots of people and you should be aware. Read my demand letter for yourself. Everything that I asked to be refunded is within reason and the Judge 100% agreed. You can't put out half built equipment and decor HOURS after the event start time and not compensate for that. You can't sit down and enjoy my food and drinks (which we have photographed) while the setup is incompelete yet I'm running around like crazy trying to pick up his slack and missing time with my guests at my own event! This is beyond poor business practice. I'm sure he can have alot of successful events but this was not one of them and he should make things right. I chose his business specifically because I wanted to support Black owned businesses with this party I threw. I whole heartedly regret giving this vendor a chance. He's rude, arrogant and irresponsible. He admitted to several wrong doings on his part and promised me $700+ back. He thought he could throw me a few dollars as a partial refund and that I would go away. So, then I took him to court for the full amount I felt I was owed. Again, there's now a written court order for him to pay me back and he refuses. Choose wisely because you don't want to be in my shoes fighting for your hard earned money. I do not recommend.
