The Dog House was one of the businesses recommended to me and the closest, so I decided to give them a shot. I had called ahead to check if they had any availability, which they did about an hour later, so I set the appointment and got ready. I've seen their sign before, so I knew where I was headed, but I couldn't find them while driving around the lot. I asked someone who I saw walking to their car and they told me it was around the corner, somewhat hidden. Once I found it and parked, I was greeted by a couple friendly employees upon entering. They quickly got her information since we were first-timers and then it was time to say good bye! Based on everyone's demeanor and the cozy appearance of the shop, I knew I could trust them with my fur baby and felt at ease. I got a call about 7 hours later that she was all finished so I grabbed my keys and headed out. The appointment took about 3 hours longer than I'm used to at Petco, but I understood that going in. I knew they were busy and they would take their time with her, making sure she was comfortable and nothing was rushed. As always, when I arrived, she came out scrambling towards me and yelling as if I tried to pawn her off. I was hoping a new environment would ease her anxiety, but she proved me wrong and that she would continue to be dramatic. I was glad to hear that she was sweet and well behaved. Everyone adored her. I brought a bandana to throw on since she was nice and clean, but they beat me to it! She came out sporting a cute pink bandana they gave her. I noticed the price was about the same as I'm used to paying at Petco, give or take a few bucks. I was happy to see that since I know groomers can get quite pricey, and she is a large dog with LOTS of fur to shed so we always opt in for a deshedding treatment. Before I left, I took a moment to look at the merchandise for sale. The walls were filled floor to ceiling with toys, treats, food, and apparel. I saw a pair of bunny ears that I might have to come back for, but that was it for today. I would highly recommend checking out The Dog House if you're looking for a new groomer. They have kind, excellent staff, which I'm sure my dog would agree with as she was able to coerce them for some treats before exiting.

I emphasized to only trim her belly area and not her butt or mane. She is a fluffy corgi not a standard corgi. She came back with all her mane hair cut off, hair near her ears cut off on her face, and her butt hair cut off. The receptionist claimed it would only be a small trim about 1/4 inch off everywhere, it was more than that. They made her look like my other corgi. After explaining over and over, even the fact the receptionist mentioned cutting a fluffy hair off it doesn't grow the same back, my fluffy corgi's hair was still cut super short, even shorter than the previous groomer I took her to. Beware even though I explained how I wanted their hair cut, both of their hair cut were the same. I won't come back to this place. I paid total $189, with tip $239. UPDATE March 2026: Never taking my dog back to this place…read moreagain. It's now named "Durango Pets Grooming #2". The first time I took him here it was the best experience I ever had at a groomer & he left the place clean & happy with a great cut. Then I brought him for another groom in December 2025. The places name had changed, and the service we received that day was mediocre. I genuinely don't think he was bathed during his grooming, just covered in scented powder. He was stressed out & sad all the whole rest of the day. I figured that was a fluke & so I took him to be groomed again in March 2026. Man, has this place gone downhill. Got there literally right when they opened. The girl at the front accepting the dogs was less than friendly. My dog who is never scared of ANYTHING was actually cowering between my legs & trembling. I should have taken that as a clue. She told me he'd be ready in about 2 hours & they'd call. 4 hours later I still hadn't heard anything so I called them. The lady who answered in Spanish impatiently told me it would be 30 more minutes. Another hour & a half goes by & they texted to say he was finally done. I go to pick him up & have to wait in line to check out for about 10-15 minutes. While I'm there I can see a soaking wet, shivering dog up on the grooming table, totally unattended, with his neck in the groomers loop. Standing there looking terrified and again, totally unattended for the entire 10-15 min I was standing in line. Seeing that was enough for me to know that I'm never bringing my dog back here again. I see my dog in a crate waiting for me. I finally am able to check him out & leave. I notice that he is absolutely covered in loose hair that they hadn't even bothered to blow off of him. They did not pluck the hair from inside his ears like I asked. His hair cut was ragged like it was someone's first day using the clippers, and his beard and eyebrows were both totally lopsided, beard was about an inch longer on one side than the other. His beard still smelled like his food, and I noticed his butt fur had old poop on it, and that's when I realized I don't think they even bathed him...AGAIN! He didn't even smell or feel freshly washed. And they charged me an extra $8 for hypoallergenic shampoo. I had to take him home & trim up his beard & eyebrows myself and give him another bath. Such a waste of time and money. Never again!

I traveled from Plano to support his business very friendly staff great prices. When he passed someone else took over I became a disabled NP surviving on less than half of my monthly income. Now I am on Social Security. The price of my small 11 pound dog went up $11 with no notice sent to me. I was shocked at the increase. Previous staff except for 1 person had resigned. The least they could have done was notify customers by text of the price increase. It is time for me to find somewhere closer and affordable for an 11 pound dog
