I didn't end up bringing my dog in for an appointment. I called for the first time because I had seen many good reviews and wanted to schedule a visit, but unfortunately my experience over the phone was not great. The front desk staff member, Emily, came across as rude and sounded very stressed, which made the conversation uncomfortable. As a first-time customer, it didn't leave me feeling confident or comfortable about leaving my fur baby there. Since I'm new to the area, I've been asking around for a trusted spot to bring my senior dog in for a bath. The Dog House was one of the businesses recommended to me and the closest, so I decided to give them a shot. I had called ahead to check if they had any availability, which they did about an hour later, so I set the appointment and got ready. I've seen their sign before, so I knew where I was headed, but I couldn't find them while driving around the lot. I asked someone who I saw walking to their car and they told me it was around the corner, somewhat hidden. Once I found it and parked, I was greeted by a couple friendly employees upon entering. They quickly got her information since we were first-timers and then it was time to say good bye! Based on everyone's demeanor and the cozy appearance of the shop, I knew I could trust them with my fur baby and felt at ease. I got a call about 7 hours later that she was all finished so I grabbed my keys and headed out. The appointment took about 3 hours longer than I'm used to at Petco, but I understood that going in. I knew they were busy and they would take their time with her, making sure she was comfortable and nothing was rushed. As always, when I arrived, she came out scrambling towards me and yelling as if I tried to pawn her off. I was hoping a new environment would ease her anxiety, but she proved me wrong and that she would continue to be dramatic. I was glad to hear that she was sweet and well behaved. Everyone adored her. I brought a bandana to throw on since she was nice and clean, but they beat me to it! She came out sporting a cute pink bandana they gave her. I noticed the price was about the same as I'm used to paying at Petco, give or take a few bucks. I was happy to see that since I know groomers can get quite pricey, and she is a large dog with LOTS of fur to shed so we always opt in for a deshedding treatment. Before I left, I took a moment to look at the merchandise for sale. The walls were filled floor to ceiling with toys, treats, food, and apparel. I saw a pair of bunny ears that I might have to come back for, but that was it for today. I would highly recommend checking out The Dog House if you're looking for a new groomer. They have kind, excellent staff, which I'm sure my dog would agree with as she was able to coerce them for some treats before exiting. read more

I used to take my pup to another groomer and they would always shave him down and claim he's "matted" and my dog would come home aggravated for WEEKS! I take very good care of my dog and I knew that his hair is well taken care of! I decided to try the Dog house and OMG best decision everrrr! I've had a great experience in the past dropping my dog off here, but today, when picking up my sweet dog, I paid and then asked to make sure that they trimmed my dogs hair on his paws and butt and also that they clipped his nails. She replied saying that she'll check and make sure but she couldn't let him leave without that happening anyway, so one would assume that they already did that if he's "ready to be picked up." However, once they got him from the crate, they kept him an extra 5/10 minutes and still had to do all of those things! Therefore, if I did not ask, they probably wouldn't have done any of it! Also, while they were doing that, I could see my dog on the table through the glass window as two women were cutting his hair and nails (one holding and one cutting) and he is a mid size dog who is super sweet and easy to manage and he fell off the table. The women proceeded to grab him by his tail and lift him back onto the table!!!!! He was shaking and trembling in fear and when she brought him out she just said "sorry for that." Super disappointing as I have been taking him here for years, but I will absolutely not be taking him back here ever. read more

The receptionist wouldn't tell me the fee when I dropped my cat off and when I picked him up they charged me $100. I showed my friend and she said I need to go back to ask to fix his haircut or get a discount. Geez, the manager wouldn't come out to talk to me but yelled from behind closed door as if I couldn't hear him. Located in a strip mall tuck away on the side is a gem of a dog groomer. It is well lit and smells clean. The time they take on our fur babies may be a bit long, but I'm glad that they take that time so that our babies are not too stressed out. Might as well eat at babe's while waiting. I had a hard time finding a good dog groomer for a while. Today, I decided to give this business I try. I called and asked if they could see my 2 German shepherds and surprisingly they said they could fit them in in a few hours! I was thrilled because they hadn't had a bath in awhile. My first initial thought was it was a little small but I liked that you could see back into the grooming area and it was well ventilated. The man who helped us check in was nice and friendly. They said we could pick them back up at 5:30pm, our drop off time was 11:35am. I didn't have an issue with this because my dogs are 100plus lbs each and I wanted the groomers to be able to take their time. When it was time to pick up, it was very busy. Which made picking up and paying pretty slow. There was only one woman working the front (taking payment, retrieving dogs and answering the phone) This made it seem like she was pretty stressed out (which is understandable). Maybe they should have a designated receptionist. I left a nice tip and left. It wasn't until I got home that I get the need to leave a review. I discovered that one of my dogs had a super blunt cut to his nails. This made them sharp and frayed. I ended up taking my nail file to try and smooth it out which was a wrestle (since I don't have the proper tools) my other dog didn't even have his nails cut and big tuffs of hair were coming off of his hind legs. I'm just disappointed. After leaving my pups there for so long, I figured they would've been able to pay attention to detail. I dont mind waiting for quality work whatsoever. I can't tell you enough good things about this place. We've been coming here ever since my first baby was little and now we have 2 sweet fur babies so a little over 2 years. We know the whole staff and they know us. Emily and Crystal are amazing at the front! And I love the way Rick and Robert do their schnauzer cuts! It's better than any other I've seen. I took Benjie here for the first time after getting mistreated at Petco near Firewheel mall. I called The Dog House and told them what happened. Even they were fully booked but they accepted Benjie on a Saturday that I am available. Everything was so good, they seems like they love dogs compared to the ppl that works at Petco. The place is clean, the price is cheaper than Petco. They even put scarfs and ribbons on every dogs, boys are blue girls are pink. And they offer treats. My Benjie haircut was way better than petco she smells fabulous when she comes out. I couldn't thanks them enough after what happened to us at Petco. I am so so so so disappointed with my experience this time around. Let's start with the fact that I have been taking my dogs here for almost 9 years and I'm pretty sure there is an old five star review from my mom. This is the only groomer my family dog who past away in feb ever knew. The facility is clean, the staff is typically friendly, and it's a place that really does not over charge customers with short haired dogs (other places often have the same price for a dog that needs a cut and a dog that doesn't!) So I liked this place for so long! I'm about to move to Allen and had been planning on continuing to make the drive for a quality and affordable service. However, the last few times I've gone have been less than stellar. The second most recent, my dog came back with a destroyed collar- no explication or replacement. I chalked it up to accidents and just bought a new collar. This time, her leash was broken! To their credit, this time they replaced the item. This is a large part of the reason my review is two starts instead of one. But this is only the beginning of my experience here today. Secondly, my dogs were there for over SIX hours. Every other time I've been here, the dogs were at the facility for no more than four hours and that's when my parents and I would bring our whole pack in at once! I called expressing concern after they had been there for over four hours and they kept saying "this is just how it works here!" Well that's not the experience I've had in the past nor is it the experience I had when my two dogs briefly went to a different groomer when I lived out of state. They said they would see if they could hurry the process and give me a call AS SOON as they were done. Fast forward to 6.5 hours after I dropped them off. I call to ask what is going on again and they tell me once again that this is normal amount of time but they were ready now! When I got to the location, I overheard the manager saying I'm the back that they had been ready for quiet some time and an employee had forgotten to turn in their cards to signal they were ready. I did here the manager tell the groomer their mistake, but honestly I think the issue is not with the individual groomer, but the practice of shuffling the dogs like a deck of cards to give them a "break" In between services creating an unnecessarily complicated process. Esp when the dogs do not need a cut! Wash and nail grind. That's it. I can tell you that my dogs stand for more than an hour straight at the dog park! They are more stressed out staying in a kennel for most of the day than standing for 30 min to get their wash done all at once. You would think with six hours they would have time to not rush and give the dogs a really polished look. You would be wrong. My bigger dog came back with her nails completely frayed, my little ones pad was BLEEDING, and the little one also has a large clump of hair!!!! In his eye that he won't let me get out. Pictures attached, except my little one wouldn't stay still to get picture of his pad, but rather a picture of the blood on my pants from him sitting in my lap (it's also on the seat of my car and my carpet) I'm sure he was wiggling, but I'm also sure that's from being in a kennel all day!!! Surrounded by dogs that were barking and making a fuss (yes I know his is what dogs do, but it's still stressful for the little guys) All in all there was little attention to detail and my dog was able to chew threw her collar once and then her leash once (which is a heave retractable leash that would have made a thud when it fell like the groomer told me it had) without any of the groomers noticing. read more

We have never had a groomer in Garland that does excellent work. My wife was upset because she was ready the appointment was at 8 :15 and they told us it would be until 2:30. So she was going to pick her up thinking they had not started yet. By the time she got there sheshe our dog looked very comfortable in her cage looking amused looking at the other dogs. She has separation anxiety no problem we could see she was fine. When my wife saw the haircut she completely forgot what she was going to complain about sheshe looked like a doll the cut was the best we have ever seen. I have the dumbest dog on the planet. Really. There's some kind of mental retardation going on. Until yesterday, he looked like he was retarded. He's a Shih Tzu. His hair was super long and matted. He couldn't see where he was going. He was dirty from rolling around in the dirt and sand in my back yard. After a LONG visit to the Dog House, he came back home smelling great, his nails trimmed, and looking both gay AND retarded with his purple and gold bow and neckerchief. But according to my wife, that's the way he should look...but she said it's "cute", not "gay". I say it's gay to put a bow on a male dog, but at least it's not a sweater. Anyway, they did a great job making my dog presentable again and it was relatively inexpensive ($48) for a bath, grooming, nail trim, & his new outfit. read more

We took our 8 year old golden retriever to be groomed here and could not be happier! The place was clean, the man who worked the counter was friendly, kind, and not at all pretentious about what kind of cut we wanted for our dog. The pricing was absolutely reasonable. Somewhere around forty dollars for everything except cutting (bathing, trimming nails, ears and glands) and around seventy-five total for including a cut like what we wanted. They also had a great selection of toys, dog accessories, and staples like collars and leashes. They sent us on our way with free dog treats, comments on how well behaved our dog was, a cute bandanna, and a sweet smelling dog. Couldn't be happier. read more

I took my (2 ) 17 year old dogs here for grooming right before Christmas and told the lady at the front desk to tell the groomer be very careful with my female because her back legs are weak and she can't stand very long....I dropped them off at 8:30 am and called at 1:00 they still weren't finished and we will call you ... I called back at 3:30 and said I'm picking them up. She carried them out and handed them to me and when we got home our little girl couldn't walk at all!! So I immediately called back and she told me the groomer had told her my female baby girl would not stand!!! I asked if she let the groomer know what I said and she seemed insulted I asked??? This is sooooo UNACCEPTABLE behavior to hurt any animal SHAME ON YOU!!!! It took my sweet baby about 3 weeks carrying in and out to go potty to finally get back to normal... HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place! We have a German Shepherd puppy that is only 3 months old, and they did a superb job! We dropped her off promptly at 9:30am this morning, and was told that we could swing back by to get her by 3:30pm. We got a reminder call at 3:15pm that she was ready and when we got there, and when they brought her up front, it was like we were looking at another dog. (We bought her from a farm family that had kept her outside for her first 3 months and she had burrs in her hair and dry skin) She was all shiny and fluffy, and she had a super cute purple bandanna tied around her neck. We had just bought her a new collar with tag, and they offered to put that on her and adjust it for us. They were also able to answer some questions we had about her grooming without any pressure to buy any of the merchandise they have on hand. Everyone working there had a genuine smile on their face, and despite the fact that there are lots of dogs there, it smelled great inside and was very clean. The price came in under $40 for everything. We were very pleased, and will certainly be back! read more

I took my 6 month old Maltese puppy here about 2 weeks ago since the other place I went to made the poor girl look like an old man. The staff is really friendly and accommodating. Since it was my dog's first time, it was hard to determine what would look good on her, especially since she's a super wiggly one. After the cut, I wanted her hair a little shorter around her face and they did not even hesitate and fixed it right then and there. The best part is that they document what we like or don't like for future reference and your pet will always have the same groomer to get the pets into a routine, unless you tell them otherwise. I believe in most cases you can walk in and set an appointment for the next day, but there was one occasion where I had to call in advance a little due to there being a specific groomer that worked with long haired/bigger dogs. I don't see that as a negative though. I'm glad they told me they have specific groomers for specific breeds and sizes. Makes me feel like they're not just a volume place, but also stand on quality, which is all i've gotten from the Dog House. Do not hesitate to bring your pets here. I am so pleased with Dog House All Breed Grooming. I just moved to the Garland area and decided to take my basset to Dog House instead of PetsMart. I advised Emily that my dog didn't like his paws touched, but needed his nails filed down. Also needed bath and removal of undercoat hair. Told her Watson might need to be muzzled for nails and ears cleaning, but when I arrived to pick him up, Emily told me he was very calm because she talked and petted him while Robert bathed and worked on his paws and nails. This is a top notch grooming business. I've been bringing my dog "Molley" here for the last 15 years since she was a puppy. Rick has been grooming her all these years. Molley is a Lhasa Apso and needs special grooming. These groomers have been here for many years and they are very professional and know what they are doing. Every time I pick Miss Molley up she smells good and beautiful. If you walked into this place and did not know you would not believe it's a animal groomer. It does not smell like it.
