Tortilla Chips
Cam V.

All the reviews that you're reading are true. We recently catered Fernando's for a company event, and I would say it was the most "okayest" nacho bar I've ever had. The chips were fine and the beef was fine, but the chicken was shredded and hardly had any flavor. The queso was OK and the salsa that came on. It were just fine. Overall, it was generally very bland tasting food. Caterer was really nice and did a good job setting up and the price was generally OK for as many people as we had fed. I don't think that we would cater from here again.

Conveniently located at 78th and Pacific in Omaha. Sit at the bar or be seated in the dining area. Happy hour specials before 6 PM! Food is texmex with large portions and a decent price. Staff was very friendly and accommodating to all of our requests Great place to meet with your friends!

Fernando's nachos.. dried ground beef

This is THE WORST MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN OMAHA. STAY AWAY. Got there because of Yelp reviews. It was empty, waitress comes takes our order and wasn't so personable. We ordered Fernando's nachos... it was LITERALLY chips, super dried over cooked ground beef(looked like dust), and a Glob of cheap cheese old cheese. Then they put the nachos in the oven to melt the cheese to the point that chips were burnt. That was the plate. So gross.. I have never NOT EATEN OR LOST MY APPETITE IN A RESTAURANT UNTIL NOW. My friend ordered street tacos... OMG.. they were some type of small tortilla covered in grease and then slapped some dry tasteless meat. Only good thing is the Corona's. This is Gringo take on Mexican food. Not even Tex mex it's a MESS. Never setting foot here again.

Not only is the food incredible, but the staff are the absolute best and the ambiance is very welcoming and comfortable. We started with some chips and dips, and the queso was delicious. It was the perfect amount of spice but still creamy and cheesy. The salsas were also very flavorful and a great start to our meal. I chose to get the carne asada for dinner and it was absolutely AMAZING. The steak was so juicy and tender, and seasoned to perfection. I was so impressed, and it was perfectly paired with some tortillas de maiz, the guacamole, and rice and beans. I would absolutely get this meal again. Not only was the food delicious, but the staff were incredibly sweet, helpful, and provided great recommendations. I will absolutely be returning here again!

The service was fantastic, and it felt like a true family restaurant. The chips were so good, and the salsa was spicy but not too much for people with sensitive palates. I love this style of chips, not a thin restaurant style but a thicker, more savory bite. We went through one portion before our food got to us and they brought more out when I asked. I highly recommend the tacos. I made a mistake and asked for birria not quesabirria tacos, so make sure to specify that if you want quesabirria (with cheese). But, the birria was good anyways! I also got the taco macho (see the pic for what's inside), and wish I would've ordered 2 of those! My husband got the huitlacoche and squash blossom tacos and they were both so good. I was so impressed they had huitlacoche as an option, I've never seen that before! The drinks were ordered and delivered from the server, but she said since they're working on a liquor license they have a bar next door that makes them. If you order a drink with your food, they charge for the drinks and food separate for that reason. I liked my jalapeño margarita! My husband got a cantarito and said it's the best one he's had from all the places we've tried to far!

The streetcar boondoggle is not affecting their block so parking is available. Decor is calming. I did not opt for an adult beverage as they were a bit pricey and I needed to retain focus. Settled on chicken enchiladas. Very tasty with some kick. The cheese was drizzled on top rather than baked through. Service was exceptionally friendly, I suspect from the bartender/proprietor. Would definitely return if in the area, but for now I am generally avoiding streetcar construction chaos. If you are downtown anyway, go.
