What started as a fun night ended in a really upsetting and unacceptable situation. When they closed, there was still girls in the restroom and one of the staff members came in and aggressively yelled that place was closed and we needed to leave immediately. I opened the door and told him he had to wait because there was people in the restroom, and instead of handling it professionally, he grabbed me by the arms and tried to physically remove me from the building. He was so aggressive and rough that he left BRUISES on my arms. I was so shocked and terrified that someone representing the business would treat a customer like that. No one deserves to be manhandled like that, especially when you're just trying to communicate that there's girls in the restroom and you're wanting to leave safely. This was a completely unnecessary and unacceptable situation, and because of this we will not be returning to epoca. Take your business elsewhere unless you want to be treated like trash by the security workers. read more

I wish I could review the food. I decided to go here with my partner tonight and despite there being empty tables, we waited about 5 minutes to be seated. We were given water and menus and waited. And waited. And waited. There were still open tables! And multiple staff members bustling around. After 20 minutes I flagged one down and asked for service, clearly stating we were there 20 minutes. They said ok I'll send someone to take your order. We waited. And waited. They avoided eye contact and just kept milling around helping tables that had already been helped. After 10 additional minutes we got up and left. We paid for parking to get a small cup of water each. I am not sure what the situation was. I feel disrespected and discriminated against. My boyfriend and I walked into an empty restaurant. Should have been the first red flag lol. We ordered House margarita for $5 we basically got a margarita mix with no added tequila. Boyfriend decided to try the Cuba Libre drink, one of their specials, and got a Diet Coke with lime and a splash of rum. The tacos are SO weak. Epoca ended up opening for lunch with the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament March 21-24th. We stopped in for lunch March 22nd! Menu was very different then it use to be, when they were open for lunch before COVID, after asking, our waitress then told us it was a limited menu. Seemed weird to be there on a Friday, during Lent, with 0 fish street taco options, and 0 streetvegetarian taco options. All of them had meat. Service was great and quick, 6 people in and out in under an hour. I asked how much an individual taco was and our waitress said "about 2.50" and they ended up being 3.75, just a little off, eek, especially when there was no prices on the menu. Ladies get in free and the music will have you dancing all night long so wear comfortable shoes lol The bartenders were friendly and made us aware of the drink specials. this location is intimate and with bouncers at the door I felt safe while being inside. Came here to eat with a friend who is a regular and enjoyed the patio seating (really nice to have this option for both being a dog owner and during COVID). The food was pleasantly good. It's different from the street tacos in South Omaha but in a good way, more Trendy and hip, but still tasty. I would compare it locally to Hook and Lime or Cantina Laredo (now closed). The chips can come mixed with flour and corn. I liked the different salsas and also the guacamole. The cocktails were delicious! I came for lunch, but I hear the night scene here is fun, with a live DJ creating more of a lounge/club vibe. I will def check it out post COVID! read more

Had lunch with my work colleagues here today. I had no idea this place was in walking distance from my office until someone said we were going for street tacos. Outstanding! One of the few places I've been to in Omaha with excellent street tacos and rice. I tried the Al Pastor tacos and they did not disappoint. I'm funny about rice. Just know that they do it the right way! Service was great, too. There was only one person serving everyone and he stayed on top of everything. All while smiling. Just awesome. First and foremost, I had the sweetest server ever. She was so nice and helpful. She recommended the char buffed wings which were magnificent. I then had three flour tacos. One beef, one chicken, one steak. All fresh and tasty. The chicken was shredded. The chicken and beef a little dry but easily taken care off with some sauce. The steak a little Greasy but chopped up good. The rice was to die for and verbs were alright. Epoca is a great spot inside the courtyard of the Capitol District. They put out some amazing tacos. The best Al Pastor in Omaha! The pineapple is perfect and they don't right! Went pre-dinner and was not packed. I think it was me and two other parties (four people). Basically ignored at the door by waitrons passing and the manager (?) counting a till behind the bar for about four minutes. The manager finally acknowledged me and said I could sit anywhere. First stop in Omaha in the Capital District. Stopped in for margaritas and all of them were $4 during happy hour. We had a total of 4 margaritas and chips and salsa for like $19 before tip. I had a black agave and house margarita. I preferred the house because the tequila was smooth and it wasn't sour as hell like a lot of margaritas. The lack agave was good but sweeter than what I like. They both were served in a clear glass looking very fresh which made me want to chug them. The bartenders were great and very friendly. We ordered chips and Rosa salsa. The salsa is the bomb and they could probably pour over ice, add some tequila and serve as a cocktail. Loved the place. read more

Husband and I went for margaritas and tacos last night. Tacos were very good and the house margaritas were mostly great. It was Taco Tuesday, which was a surprise and thus the tacos were $2 a piece. Nice! The downside was that the 2 male bartenders/waiters (ours), put down 4 shots apiece just in the 90 minutes we were there around 5-6:30 PM. They also had a seat at the far end of the bar where they would periodically sit down and drink beer. The chef came out once and sat down to do a shot and drink a beer too. After the 3rd shot, our waiter kept forgetting to put a mask on when he came to our table. The second margarita he served me was way too sweet, might have been the result of his 4th shot. I only drank half of it. We asked for our check, which he brought (without a mask) and then just stood by the table. He started giggling after my husband passed the bill to me. We both wanted to check it since the waiter was a little toasted by then. He would not walk away until I handed him my credit card. Our bill was accurate. The other bartender/manager(?) never wore a mask. The 2 female waitstaff were very professional and always had their masks on. I wished we had had one of them. One of the two women did stop by every once in awhile to check on us. I wonder if the drinking is a nightly occurrence and they wanted to make sure we were taken care of. Updated review: Finally got back to try this place after we were disappointed they were not open. WOW!!! So glad I gave them a second chance. We started with the duo with guac and queso with a mix of corn and flour chips. It was a good amount for the price! I had the roasted bell pepper taco and the portobello mushroom taco, which were small (street taco size) but both very tasty! My companion had the enchiladas, which were very good but a tad spicy. Overall it is a little pricey, but it is to be expected to be in the trendy Capitol District. Will definitely return! read more

This place was great! This is what the corner kick used to be. The food was hot, the flavor was rich and the service was excellent. There was 5 of us and we ordered lots of tacos, enchiladas and the trio appetizer. Zero complaints. The food came out fairly quick and it was hot. The portions were a healthy size and the flavor left nothing to be desired. The trio app was awesome and with a refill of chips I couldn't ask for more. The tacos were great. Classic street tacos that made me want to gorge myself and roll out of the place. If I didn't live so far away, I would be here once a week. I wanna thank the server who was literally one of the best. This guy was on it and every time a water got less than half, he was there refilling. I drink water like a camel so he was definitely busy but he had a smile on his face the entire time. Guys like this make you wanna come back cause they make the experience better. And it was fairly busy so kudos to him. If I could remember his name I would tell you guys to make sure you don't lose him. The whole place was clean and the bathrooms were no different. Very clean and comfortable. Only one pooping stall so if ya gotta go and it's occupied, it might be a long wait. Great job overall. My sister went with some coworkers here and while standing in line waiting to use the bathroom, she asked if someone that was preoccupying the stall could please stop talking and be considerate of the fact that people were waiting to use it(they had been in there a while and were just talking and No she wasn't rude about it). This person along with a friend didn't like being asked that so they busted the door in on my sister while she was in there and physically attacked her breaking her arm and giving her a concussion. The restaurant proceeded to protect the 2 people that did that. I would like to know what is being done about my sister being attacked last night in your establishment. Because she feels like she's getting the run around as if the people responsible is of importance to somebody there or to someone in law enforcement. Regardless, if that is the case, the people responsible NEED to and WILL face the consequences of their disgusting actions. And we won't stop pursuing this until they are in jail. read more

The restaurant was completely empty when we entered. We had one vegan in our party and they refused to let us order the tacos without meat and the beans that come on the side in the taco instead. They didn't end up eating anything. The mashed potato dish was definitely made with instant potato's and tasted like a funnel cake. The chefs were too occupied with the empty restaurant to cut the "corn in a cup" off the cob, which was also ice cold when it arrived at the table. The street tacos meat was chewy and also freezing. All in all an appetizer, 2 entrees and a margarita ran $95. Which I'm willing to pay for good food, but never again for epoca cantina. read more

Delicious food, gorgeous venue and gracious service all happened this afternoon when we went to Epoca. We had guacamole for starters and the mix of corn and flour tortilla chips was great. The guac was fresh! I had pollo asada and nopales tacos ($3 each). Amazing. Not huge, but double wrapped in soft corn tortillas, served with roasted jalapeños, green salsa and fresh lime wedges made this lunch worth repeating. My partner got the carnitas and al pastor and he enjoyed those - they were gone in a flash. I can't wait for the summer, when they open the windows at the bar and have outdoor seating. Keep one thing in mind. This is a "tapa" place. You are not coming here to gorge on food. Given that their street tacos are very good especially the carnitas and barbacoa. Wife is a big fan of nopalitos and gave them a thumbs up. We also had the cerviche. Pretty good for these parts. The house margaritas are very good, I would probably not pay much more than the happy price for them. BTW, happy hour is probably the best time around here. What a delightful surprise this place was. I wasn't expecting much since it's in the bar district. I was thinking nice taco bell. It's instead as good as or better than all but 2-3 Mexican restaurants in Omaha. Solid food. I had the street tacos--pastor, chicken pastor (which are surprisingly really good) steak, and shrimp. All were really good. We also had the bowl of corn--eh. It's not elotes. We even suggested they do an elote cart. They said no thank you. Boo. No vision. We also had the nachos. They were good. Not the good life good, but good solid drunken good nachos. I would also recommend their margarita and their Pablo macho. In the end, what I found was another solid 7.5/10 restaurant Omaha is known for. If your drunk, and I have been known to be in capital, do not miss this place. You'll thank me for the margarita. Epoca is a whole vibe! I have been there to eat and also during the club dance hours. My favorite tacos are the shrimp and Maui and their cocktails are , it's hard to choose a favorite but i think it would be the Mint Jamaica Margarita! This was my second visit to this restaurant. The first visit was mediocre but they had recently opened and I was hoping things would improve. We visited during the covid pandemic and were the only two customers in the restaurant (though they were serving a few take-out orders). Like others have noted, the bartender was not wearing a mask at all and the waitress was wearing a mask 1/2 of the time. The drinks were "fine" but overpriced at $8 for what I'd call a below average-quality margarita. We ordered tacos and cheese dip - the food took over 20 minutes to arrive. The meat was bone dry. The tortillas were tiny (3" street taco size). They didn't have black beans and the pinto beans were served cold. We asked for a few extra chips to finish off the cheese dip and were charged $2 extra. It is hard to believe this place is still open. While I wish them all the best, I will not be back. read more

The place wasn't overly busy but 30 minutes for a drink order and another 45 before we got up and left before being served-not cool.
