I passed the written test on 9/10. Received the Permit ID on 9/21. Having read the excellent reviews I decided to go to Saunders. Due to Covid-19, they are running the Pre Licensing Course over Zoom to maintain social distancing! After watching the course which was led "both Edwards" - very well organized and seamless. I went into the office (9/24) to pick up the certificate and book lessons and the road test. Nina was extremely helpful, and explained the entire process. She was able to get me a test on 10/2 and get the best instructor - Alex! In just 3 lessons he was able to undo all my bad habits. He was thorough and meticulous with his explanation of the nuances of the driving test and was extremely patient with my reluctance to adhere to the necessary steps to pass my test. If you're thinking about taking lessons here--don't. Unless you enjoy being screamed at, cursed at, and treated with zero respect. I came to this school expecting professionalism, but what I got was a nightmare that left me in tears and forced me to cancel my road test. I initially took 3 lessons with Carlos, who was patient and made me feel confident in my driving. Before my road test, I purchased an extra class to refresh my memory and was scheduled to have my final lesson with Carlos right before my test. But at the last minute, he canceled, and the front desk reassigned me to Edward. From the moment I stepped into Edward's car, I knew it was a mistake. I told him I wasn't used to driving a car like his and needed patience. Instead, he was aggressive, unprofessional, and downright abusive--screaming, cursing, and even hitting my hands every time I made a mistake. His behavior left me so shaken that I started crying and had to cancel my road test on the spot. To make matters worse, Edward later called me acting like nothing had happened--completely dismissing his actions. They should be glad I didn't make a police report for the harassment i had to face Avoid this place at all costs. No student should have to go through what I had to go through , especially before such an important test. Balty took me from not wanting to get behind the wheel, to driving on the highway very comfortably in 3 months. I passed my test on the first time. Before signing up with Saunders, I failed my road test twice before. I didn't think I would ever get my license. My best friend told me about this school, and to ask for Balty. Last time I drove actively was almost 20 years ago and since then, I drove a handful of times, if that. As my new position at work requires me to have a driver's license I reached out to Saunders Driving School, bought a 5 lesson package and was assigned Ashot as my instructor. When we met, Ashot gave me the rundown of exactly what you need to know and what you need to do in order to pass the road test at the DMV. He is a great instructor (he actually has a university degree in teaching), very patient, cares about his students and puts in maximum effort in making sure you are ready on test day. I'm happy to say, I passed on the first try. If you decide to sign up for classes with Saunders Driving School and get Ashot as your instructor, I can confidently say that you will be in good hands. Alright im going to make this short and sweet: Saunders driving school experience: -Not friendly, always made me feel uncomfortable -Disorganized. Always late, sometimes never even showed up to our appointment (Just like other people complained about on their yelp reviews)) -Never a confirmation the day before -Instructors are impatient and disrespectful (Just like other people complained about on their yelp reviews) -Two of their instructors assumed I knew how to drive even though I explained several times I never drove before. So basically they have poor listening skills as a teacher. -They are not detail oriented as teachers nor teach their classes with a structure. They just wing it. -They would teach me something to the extreme of parking and expecting me to master it within the day ( just like their other bad yelp reviews). Clearly this is not only a "me" thing. -Does not follow covid guidelines -When I ask a question or mess up they would suck their teeth or literally yell at me. My instructor literally popped an Advil in the middle of our session. Clearly they shouldn't be teaching if they lack this much patience. -Would be on the phone in the MIDDLE of our session. My Other Driving School Experience in EAST New York -Made me feel comfortable -Detail oriented (Saunders instructors never corrected the way I turned the wheel of the car, nor taught me detail oriented strategies on how to park properly, OR acking to correct the way I press on the gas. I would keep my food on the gas peddle and never slide my foot on the break or let it rest on the break. My new instructor corrected all of that. When he saw my improper technique turning the car he made me park to the side and we sat there practicing turning the wheel while the car was parked for several minutes until I got it down. Mind you my instructor is a bus driver so he actually is very experienced in driving. ) -Always on time -Always receive a confirmation call the day before class -Follows covid guidelines -Beyond Patient -Actually listens and responds to my questions without getting offended or upset. -Gives me their entire attention through out our sessions. I previously took classes with Ferrari Driving school who failed to do much but take my money. After failing my road test I did more research to find a school that would properly teach me how to drive and that wanted me to be successful. Saunders Driving school is one of the best schools in Queens for driving. My instructor quickly saw the small errors I made while driving and helped me correct them within a week of lessons. I write this review with very mixed feelings of Saunders Driving School. My first experience with them was on November 15th. I wanted to take driving lessons in Queens because I no longer live on Long Island. I spoke with the receptionist and I ended up getting a lesson with Mohammed that Sunday. My experience with Mohammed was very good. He was respectful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I had 3 lessons with him. Unfortunately, he went on vacation in the first weekend of December. Because Mohammed went on vacation, I needed another instructor. I called last Friday and bought the 5 lesson package for $320. I also got a new instructor, Yuriy. Yuriy is THE WORST instructor/teacher I've EVER had. First of all, he was late for our first lesson, which doesn't look good by me at all. First impressions are everything. Then, he wanted me to meet him at the school, where as other drivers have picked me up at my house. He pulls up in a brand new Honda. And drives around until we get to a "quiet" road. I've had a total of 8 lessons, I can handle roads with traffic. His first words to me are "I'm rude. I will be rude to you if you don't do what I say". You don't say that! So we switch places and I'm driving. He was telling me new information and it takes me a few tries to get it right sometimes. But he started getting rude with me, so I called him out on it. Then he said "Pull over. You're not listening to me, you think I'm yelling, this lesson is over." So my 1 hour lesson ended about 7 minutes in. Because of Yuriy's behavior towards me, I am no longer associated with Saunders. I called this morning and got my refund. I'm a teacher, I have patience and respect for my students. Yuriy should not be in the teaching profession if he is going to treat his students like that. So, if you want to have a very aggressive instructor who will treat you lesser than dirt and destroy any confidence you have, go to Saunders. If this doesn't seem like your cup of tea, which most likely it's not, go somewhere where you'll be better respected. Thanks for reading! read more

Really really horrible experience with this school. I cannot emphasize how much you should search for a different company. Such a scam. I paid for their 10 lesson package and was assigned an instructor. I completed one lesson with him and afterwards scheduled 2 more lessons. Last minute he told me he could not see me for either of those dates because he forgot he was busy. The next time he could see me would be 2 weeks later, so I requested a new instructor. I got the new instructor's number and texted him my availability and let him know my expectations. He left me on read!! I waited but he didn't reply all day and then by the next day I texted again saying, "hello??" and he read that message too without responding! I went to their location because I was so disrespected at that point and asked for a full refund. I confronted the instructor over why he didn't respond and he says, "I didn't see your messages". After I manually show him he has his read receipts on and that he DID see it, he changes his story to, "Yeah maybe I did see it but you know I'm busy". I should've seen this coming because when I first called to ask about the packages and the secretary told me the one I wanted was $600. I told her it costs $525 and she asked me where I saw that... I said "your website???" She acts all surprised like "okay we can do $525 for you". I didn't pay that day but I called about a week later ready to pay and she pulls the same exact scam on me! I had to firmly remind her she was wrong. So ridiculous. Edit: I see that they raised the fees on their website finally. Possibly the most unprofessional, SCAM of a business I have ever dealt with in my life. Do not waste your time and money. 0 stars. read more

I had an amazing experience with Saunders DS, and yes I passed the driving test :). I bought 5 lessons package and also took a pre license class. Nina in the office went above and beyond to make my experience with them as smoother as possible, even though I was pain in an ass (had to reschedule my driving test twice). My instructor Igor was awesome, very responsible and punctual guy, very experienced driver and definitely knows how to teach inexperienced drivers like me. I Had Very Few Consistent Driving Lessons Through My Life. After My First Lesson With One Instructor, I Realized His Availability Wasn't Working Out With My Work Schedule. I Was Eventually Paired With Mark, And I Have To Say He Is A Miracle Worker. I Had A Bit Of A Phobia Driving As I Was Involved In A Car Accident When I Was 9 Years Old. Like A Seasoned Coach/Drill Instructor, Mark Helped Sharpen My Driving Skills And Finding My Comfort Zone. While I Had Some Doubt In My Ability Going Into My Road Test Today, I Passed With Flying Colors! I Can Not Thank Mark Enough And I Truly Appreciate His Help As This Milestone In My Life Means So Much To Me. I had an instructor Edward, who is also the owner of this school. He is a very irresponsible person who does not even remember you by the next lesson. the first 2 lessons he was 15 minutes late, and the third time he canceled the lesson altogether in 5 minutes. He was even 15 minutes late on the day of the exam and I had only 30 minutes to prepare for the exam. ( i passed btw) Every time I had to run after him to make an appointment, he could not answer the message at all, I had to write to him again to remind him of myself. he absolutely does not know the name of the streets and where we are, upon returning home he used a map, although we always rode the same neighboring streets. You probably have a question why I didn't go to another school or choose another instructor? I first bought 1 lesson, and then I already bought a package with 5 lessons + a car for passing the exam. After 2 lessons, I chose instructor Alex, I liked everything, but he does not work in the afternoon, and my exam was scheduled for 3.30 and I had 4 days before the exam and 3 lessons. so I had no other choice. if you still choose this school (because reception Svetlana is very kind and helpful, instructor Alex punctual and knows his job) then just not instructor Edward. read more

What a wonderful experience. As an older driver needing lessons, the team worked with me on what I needed to get that PASS on my road test. The 5 hour course was very interesting and informative and time passed quickly. Ash was my driving instructor. Do not use this driving school. They are completely unprofessional. I had two bad experiences: 1. I called to schedule a driving test and lessons. The lady on the phone said she will schedule a test for me and told me to come in for the five hour defensive driving class. Later she called me and left a message with the test date. When I came in for the five hour class I told the man who worked there that I need to reschedule the test, since I was going away on vacation. He found an earlier date for me and rescheduled my test. A few days later I called to schedule some driving classes, the lady said that since my test was still far away I should wait a little and take classes closer to the test. I told her that my test was rescheduled. Apparently it wasn't. I don't know if the man lied to me, or doesn't know how to do his job, but my test was still scheduled for the original date. I ended up canceling it and scheduling it myself, which wasn't very difficult so I'm not sure why the school couldn't get it together. 2. I bought the five classes package, which includes the car for the driving test. The instructor was not very good and kept grabbing the wheel from me and yelling at me when I looked both ways before making a turn. I told him my test date, and he said I am not ready. Three days before my test the school left a message for me, reminding me about the time and date of my test, saying that my instructor will meet me and take me there. The day before the test I called him to make meeting arrangements, he told me that he doesn't have a car and blamed me for not telling him ahead of time that my test was coming up. I called the school immediately, it was after 6 so there was no one there, but I left a message telling them that the instructor didn't have a car. My test was at 8:30am the next day. I was really upset that no one got back to me that evening and went to bed thinking there is no way to get to my test. I woke up the next morning to messages from the school that the instructor now has the car and is waiting for me. Unfortunately, it was already too late and I would have missed my test. read more

Great school very nice and educational ! I have been coming here for awhile and they have been super nice to me. Their five hour class is very educational and they're very nice and friendly. They gave me a instructor named Mohammed who is very nice and is very great at teaching how to drive. When I am behind the wheel I feel very confident with him and safe that he is showing me the right stuff to do. He is very punctual and knowledgeable with driving. What I noticed good is he keeps it real with you and will tell you your mistakes right on and can tell you your strengths and your weaknesses. I would recommend this driving school to anyone and definitely will recommend Mohammed as a instructor he is very good and awesome ! read more

Saunders Driving School is a good place to renew your ACCIDENT PREVENTION course. I literally called them and the same day i went to take the course. Fee is $60. The lady there, Natalia, is very nice and mannered and gets things done quickly. They also do driving lessons, road tests and apparently help you set up insurance for your vehicle , if necessary. This place doesn't deserve any stars! I came upon this driving school through Groupon. And it was a HUGE mistake! The staff is extremely unprofessional and RUDE! This was my first driving school and it was a horrible experience. The instructor expected me to know how to park, drive, etc when I clearly stated this was my first time driving! And when I asked questions or wasn't doing things correctly he had a nasty, RUDE attitude. To make matters worse they were very inconsistent and flakey! I work a full time job and I've had numerous lessons cancelled and rescheduled. They don't even have the courtesy to call to say they can't make it to you even when scheduling a week in advance. They kept rushing me into take the road test when I clearly wasn't ready due to THEIR inconsistency and when I asked to rescheduled they kept getting annoyed?! They don't respect your time. I am truly disgusted by this driving school. It's a complete fraud! They steal your money, do your self a favor and find a better school and get your moneys worth. NEVER AGAIN. read more

If I could give it less of a rating I would. This place is horrible when it comes to customer service. My instructor got sick 2 weeks before my test so I had to switch instructors. The guy they went yelled at me the whole entire time and refused to pick me up for the actual lesson. He wanted me to meet him where it was more convenient for him. Let me start off with THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP FOR MY DRIVING TEST. I made the appointment, tried to check with them over the phone, but there was no one I could reach 5 for 5 days prior to my test as it was a holiday weekend. However, if that was the case, they should've checked before everyone went on vacation. I stood outside the school where and when they said to wait for an hour. Tried calling the instructors and the school, but there were no answers as it was 9, an hour before the school opened. As to why they scheduled it then, I don't know. I showed up late to the driving test after trying to find someone to speak to, and obviously was not allowed to take the test. The instructor then tried to say it was not his fault, and it was my fault for not clarifying with him. Whether it was the fault of his or the company, it doesn't matter at this point. My instructor aside from showing up to my lessons and driving test late, was making other appointments during my lesson! As his attention was only half on me, he randomly hit the brakes between penciling things into his daily planner. I did not learn anything from this particular instructor, and he was also the one to not show up to take me to my driving test. read more

Really great experience. Needed the 5h class and they have it twice a week. Once i completed that they rushed my road test and made an appointment for me in 3 weeks.bPassed my test in 4 minutes. Andrew who provided me with a car (for an additional fee of course) was great. Took an hour class before the test and he showed me the easiest way to do parallel parking and now i can park literally in one two three. Matter of fact i am writing this review sitting on a chair at a hair salon and had to drive here. Had to parallel park and i was so proud of my self and immediately thought of Andrew.
