These people are so cheap. We have been ordering food here since they opened. Every once in a while I forget how they are so ungracious. Their food is good but their customer service is poor. Over the years we've probably spent thousands of dollars with them. Today We ordered $120 worth of food. They made an error in one dish and offered to discount the food $10 or redeliver it 30 minutes later. We want to eat when we get the food not 30 minutes later. Discounting the food doesn't cut it. My shrimp scampi was very much like the review of the shrimp oreganata. A huge amount of "linguine" in a bland watery sauce that could have used garlic!! Maybe parsley? Something to give it flavor which was entirely missing from the dish! Shrimp were okay/fine. Nothing was special about this $30 entree. And I agree with another reviewer that the accompanying rolls were just not great. We rarely try Ferraro's. It's been many years, because it's just never great and still is not. I am aware that it is very popular. Honestly I think many people appreciate the quantity over the quality. Absolutely awful. I haven't had Ferraro's in a bit and I'm shocked. As an Italian, this was probably the worst Italian meal I have ever had. There are plenty of better places to order Italian "take out" from if you don't feel like going to sit somewhere. I ordered Shrimp Oreganto for dinner. It was $22.95. I asked for angel hair instead of linguine as my "side". I couldn't believe the way this dish looked. I paid that much money for PASTA with a "side" of shrimp. Please see pictures. It had to be an entire box of angel hair drowned in this goopy lemon butter sauce. It was almost gelatinous. It was soft, mushy and inedible. I ate the 5 shrimp with bread crumb that the laid on top. Excellent food but they are missing on a few key areas. Rolls that come with takeout are not worth the calories. Vegetables that come as a side are overcooked like the ones you get in a high school cafeteria. I want to order from them more often because of the great food but why are they missing on the basics? This is the catering and take out location of Ferraro's in downtown Westfield. Place has a small entrance, with an even smaller counter space.... but it is always busy. I've picked up food from here a few times, and it has never disappointed. The chicken Parm sandwich - first of all it's massive. The chicken is tender, and you can have it with regular or meat sauce. i know... meat sauce with a chicken parm. Sounds strange till you try it. The flavors work with each other, and the sandwich is great, especially when you add the cheese to it. Ferraro's Salad - a fresh salad with greens, strawberries, and walnuts (i usually swap out the candied walnuts with plain ones). Salad also comes with a berry vinaigrette, which is great (when used sparingly). Grilled chicken foccacia sandwich - overall good, but chicken pieces are a little thin... but the flavors are good. cheese steak wrap - this was on their daily specials menu, and it was great. nice pieces of steak, along with sautéed onions and cheese. cooked to perfection. Most of their sandwiches come with either pasta salad, potato salad or fries, and make for a great meal. Staff is also friendly, and helpful. I ordered personal pizza with onion, mush and sausage. First bite it was so soggy that all of the toppings fell off. Tomato sauce was nothing but canned tomatoes and a bowl of SUGAR. Ample onions, uncooked, raw mushrooms and 4 nuggest of sausage. The dough left a weird taste in my mouth like someone added Splenda to it. This is why I don't order pizza, did the bus boy make this pie? I did order it between lunch and dinner. Your palate is damaged if anyone thinks this pizza is worth a penny. I received my money back. Lazy cook, lazy ingredients. I don't like to write this, but I paid good money (which I received a refund) and I put the rest of the pie outside and the o'possum and fox didn't even touch it, I had to throw it in the dumpster. This used to be one of our go to places because of it's consistency. Unfortunately, over the last several years it's consistently disappointed. We started patronizing Ferraro's South around the same time I assume that most people in the area did, when Ferraro's in the center of town had a fire and to close for a while. At the time, I'll admit, the food was spectacular and they went out of their way to help and service their customers. And that is part of the reason why even though we've had bad experiences with them in recent years we kept giving them another try. (everyone is entitled to a bad day every once in a while.) Yet, in recent years, not only has the cost gone up two fold, the food quality has suffered and the service has but all disappeared. I can no longer recommend them as an acceptable alternative to some of the other Italian restaurants in town. I don't know if it's because they're so busy, they have so many new people working constantly, or they just don't care any longer, but after tonight's take-out order fiasco they've lost our business for good. With takeout, it's not unreasonable to expect that every once in a while you might get an incorrect order. It's takeout, it happens. But when it does happen, you do expect that the proprietor will be gracious, apologize and attempt do whatever is necessary to either correct the order or make some type of amends. However, that did not happen, not even a little, until my wife told them they lost us as a customer and we were going to write a bad review - and even then the response was "ok, well what do you want." As always, we called in our order. We found that this is the best way to ensure that we get exactly what we want, having had issues in the past. Talking with someone usually cuts out any type of misinterpretation that might occur with one of those third-party delivery services or an online order. However, my wife must've gotten a new person on the phone and the conversation went something like this. Wife: I'd like to order, one small cheese pizza. Chicken fingers and French fries, chicken parm dinner with penne with vodka sauce, they've done this for me before, I know will be an up charge, and a shrimp marinara dinner but instead of pasta can I get some sort of vegetable on the side. Order taker: the shrimp dinner doesn't come with sides Wife: it doesn't come with pasta Order taker: no Wife: so it just comes shrimp on a plate? Order taker: yes Wife: ok, then I'd also like an order of Broccoli Rabe. Order taker: ok, your number is ###, 30 minutes Wife: ok thank you So lets recap - Our order now is, Cheese Pizza, Chicken fingers with French Fries, Chicken Parm Dinner with Penne Vodka, Shrimp on a plate and an order of Broccoli Rabe -- I went to pick up the order - place was crazy busy as always - same guy yelling at employees as always - Nice to me and other customers, but not to his employees. $75 dollars later, I'm off. I get home and this is what we get:Cheese Pizza, Chicken fingers with French Fries, "Gluten Free" Chicken Parm with Vodka Sauce on top - NO Penne. Shrimp Marinara over linguini and order of Broccoli Rabe My wife proceeds to call to explain that the order is incorrect and let them know. Mind you, not to ask for a credit, not to ask for the correct order to be brought out to us - but instead to be courteous to the proprietor and let them know that there was ANOTHER mix up and for him to check and make sure that someone who was supposed to get a gluten free chicken parm didn't inadvertently get a regular. Of course, she asked to speak to the manager and he came on with such an inappropriate attitude. Nasty from the first words out of his mouth. She tried to explain what had happened and rather than saying thank you, "I appreciate you telling us, we'll check and make sure that wrong Chicken Parm doesn't go out", his answer was - "well you wanted all this extra stuff, I should have charged you extra for X and extra for Y, and extra for Z". Once again she tried to explain that she was calling to help, he said, "well next time I'll just charge you extra for everything you want". At that point she said, "you'll never get the chance, because you've lost our business forever and I'll be writing a review to share my experience". To which he reply - "ok, well what to you want?" - My wife, said "Nothing" goodbye. My wife having lived in the are all her life and me 16 years, we remember a different Ferraro's - but I guess like most things in life - things change and not always for the better. I wish them well, and hope that they take note of this review and implement some simple changes that can avoid simple mistakes: for instance - before you give the customer the order, take everything out of the bag, review the order with the customer, and then re-bag it. Takes a little longer, but avoids bad experiences, having to re-cook and order and put someone on the road to deliver it. Hope you find this helpful. read more

I've been siting here for 45 minutes on Christmas Eve waiting for my families dinner. This is the worst service I have ever received. I'm never coming back! In my drafts from Christmas 2015, never posted it because I thought it might be harsh. So the above was sitting in drafts and my in laws ordered from this place again. I'm having the same issue from above in 2016. This year we called ahead half an hour of the pick up time. They told us it would be finished fifteen minutes early. Have been going to Ferraros on Elm Street For over 20 years at least and everytime in the past year or two I order from Ferraros South it's a hit or miss experience. Everytime I order the eggplant parmigiana it's all seeds no flavor and not cooked all the way. I keep ordering it over and over again in hopes it will be better but it's not. Trouble with take out orders. For the third time an order was what we specifically asked not to have. In other words, no cheese on a dish. For the third time, cheese was on the meal. When I called, the answer was "sorry, I don't know why they can't get that right." Verbatim. Really? I have been a customer since 1972. That was really the answer offered. I cannot think of a more inadequate answer. From a place that's been here forever. I think that the success has diluted the service. Obviously very disappointed. Placed an order for delivery tonight and wasn't pleased with it. I ordered the chicken sandwich on focaccia with roasted peppers mozzarella and balsamic. The chicken was light pink, the bread was huge and made the sandwich hard to eat. I was excited for the sandwich after looking at reviews and seeing how amazing the pasta salad looked but I didn't get that- instead I got a macaroni salad that had way too much mayo. This a an excellent catering hall. I had my engagement party at Ferraro's South and my guests could not stop talking about how great it was. The food, atmosphere and service was excellent. The manager made sure that I was happy and taken cared of the whole night. They even moved tables for my guests and I to dance. We ordered online from Ferraros South for the first time this Memorial Day Weekend. We actually ordered online. One option was missing. The ability to request any additional info...such as well done for pizza. I called them and they had my order on the screen in seconds. We ordered a Brooklyn Square pizza. The price point was perfect...the delivery was super fast...the pizza was amazing. They are now in the top two of our favorite pizza delivery in the area. The food is always excellent. My favorites are the chopped Murray salad, Ferraros salad and the salmon dishes. The pizza is also delicious! I almost always order online for delivery and the orders are always 100% accurate. I cannot say that for any other restaurant that delivers. The worst experience with takeout ever! Placed order over the phone at 5:40PM and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. Arrived on time and the two main dishes were there waiting to be picked up. Only problem was that the side salad wasn't ready. So, while I waited the main dishes were getting cold. 15 minutes later, the side salad came out. Even though I live less than 5 minutes away, the dish was lukewarm by the time I arrived home. Lukewarm eggplant parmigiana with the cheese hardening on top is awful. I shouldn't have been too surprised since I'm also not impressed by their full service restaurant in downtown Westfield, finding it to be mediocre and overpriced. read more
