I had Dan's Backyard BBQ at the 2019 Hunterdon County 4H Fair. This review needs to be qualified with the fact that I don't like St. Louis Style Ribs. Even though I am a Louis Prima fan (sorry for the obscure reference) the bone to meat ratio just doesn't make up for the higher fat content. At least for me. This guys ribs changed that. You don't eat these ribs so much as you hold them up and allow the meat to dive into your mouth like an Olympian off the 10 meter platform. They are that good. And I have eaten enough brisket in my life that writing a review including a reference to pork is probably something I shouldn't do publicly, but his is top notch. Lastly, I come on this site and often see reviews regarding the personal nature of the proprietor of the business, which are sometimes so vicious and misplaced, it is not a mystery why the writers of South Park want to feed some of the members of this site what they want to feed them. To that end, if you have a problem with either Dan or his staff, I would have to say that the problem is most likely with you. They couldn't be nicer, more courteous and helpful. I know that sounds like a lot for serving somebody BBQ but those fairgrounds on a weekend can be a certified nuthouse. At no time did I see anyone lose their patience or desire to help the customers. Had Dan's food at an event for Sky Manor Airport and was blown away- by far the best BBQ I've had this side of the Mason Dixon! The meat was smoked perfectly and every juicy bite bursted with the flavor of his homemade rub. Dan's Carolina sauce was a great blend of sweet and spicy, and you can get it at many Shop-Rites. Dan's Backyard BBQ is truly one of the best catering options out there. I hired Dan to come to my father's birthday celebration and everybody there was amazed! Both at the quality of the food and the terrific service we received. Dan brought one of his catering trucks right into my backyard and even cooked food on the spot! The whole operation was very professional and sanitary, as all his employees were wearing gloves while handling the food and his truck appeared spotless! The whole experience was truly a pleasure. I also got to enjoy Dan's Backyard BBQ at the 4-H agricultural fair in Ringoes. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich and my friend had the roast beef. The brisket was to die for, cooked until it was nice and tender and rubbed with delicious spices, and the roast beef was greatly enjoyed as well. Dan catered my daughter's farm wedding. It was wonderful! He came out to our site numerous times to make sure his truck and kitchen would fit into the space. The food and service was absolutely outstanding. We had appetizers during cocktail hour, which included pigs in the blanket, stuffed cabbage, and buffalo wings! Dinner included the roasted pig, roast beef, mac and cheese, salad, baked beans, and corn-on-the- cob! Everything was delicious. People raved most about the pigs in blanket, roasted pig, mac and cheese, baked beans,corn-on-the cob and stuffed cabbage.
