Okay I am from here in Madisonville we come in every year for vacation and I know it's not the healthiest thing, but it's tradition to come to Ferrells with aunts, uncles and cousins at least once or twice while here. An immersive, retro experience for the modern era because you just don't find this kind of burger joint anymore. I went for the classic diner style, counter and stool seating where I could soak in the fullness of the experience as they prepared my food. I watched as they pulled the pre-portioned balls of hamburger from the refrigerator, smack it on the counter, smash it with the spatula, then slap it on the grill. The burger was classic - fresh, good tasting, hot off the grill, greasy goodness dressed to your preference. The chili cheese fries were not exactly as expected since I could see a warmer labeled "cheese sauce". Instead the freshly cooked, small batch of fries were covered in a layer of American cheese slices, then chili, then sprinkled with shredded cheddar. They tasted good, but the burger was definitely the star of the show. The staff were attentive but not super-friendly. No smiles and no chit-chat...these ladies were all business. While the food remains the same which I love the prices have gone through the roof. Bought three cheeseburgers cost me nearly $15.00 And if you know Ferrells you know their burgers are very small. A few years ago the place would be full to the bone with people eating or waiting for to go orders the last three times I have been there only one person was in restaurant and on each of those visits the price had risen each time from before. Excellent greasy burger diner. We all loved the smash burgers. There are 3 different locations and the one outside Cadiz is the best. I wouldn't say the staff were rude, probably more busy and not overly friendly, but definitely nice folks. It sounds so strange, but order the chili along with your burgers. There's nothing more I love than finding the cool spots in random towns I either come across, stay in, or pass through when traveling for work. I thought this would be one of them, and I was sorely mistaken. Do yourself a favor and skip this place, even if the cheaper prices entice you. In this case, there's a reason those prices are so low. I absolutely love this place! This place has been in my town for close to a century "1929 I think". Within the last two years or so the place burnt on the inside and I was very sad but then also excited because they said they were rebuilding! Then COVID. This pushed back the opening a bit due to beef price increase. Then closed again and then opened back up. Crazy. Anyway, within the first week of it opening the town had a little affair and me and my wife rode our bikes up there and got some burgers. Now, this place, back in my prime KEEN review days, had the best burgers as compared with all of the other burgers that had ever been tested by my tongue. And I purposefully went out and ate burgers for comparison and this one was the best. Well, after it burnt down and and opened back up, we got some burgers and they looked ok but the flavor was not the same. Needless to say we were disappointed, and not only that but the price had increased fairly substantially. We didn't go back for a while, thinking that the new employees needed some time to perfect their trade and learn how to cook on that classic Ferrells grill plate. I'm proud to say that they did not disappoint. The burgers are just as good now as they have ever been and the price reflects what it used to be. Today me and my wife rode our bikes up to Ferrell's today for old time sake and got our usual double cheese dressed and chili cheese fries. Absolutely amazing burgers. I unabashedly say the best in town, and I should know, I've eaten them all at one time or another. Should anyone think otherwise message me and I'll eat your burger for comparison. Excellent restaurant for small tasty burgers! They have been in business for 70 something years and that speaks volumes alone for a small town restaurant that isn't a chain. I recommend this restaurant for anytime, whether you are wanting breakfast, lunch or dinner. They also service breakfast food which I am trying out this weekend! The people are friendly at this restaurant and in Madisonville that is a rare occasion you find that this small town doesn't look at people they don't know and snarl. I was in town for two weeks working at Land O' Frost. I travel a lot for work and always try to find a mom-and-pop type place. This place is by far the best place I've ate at in the past 6 months!! Service was great every time. Nice chatty people and made me feel like i had known them and been coming for years. A friend and i tried it the first night doing laundry around the corner. Needed up coming back with all the guys from work next two night!! Double bacon cheeseburger, crinkle fries, and good ol RC! It was such a small dinner too. Got to see them make everything in front of me! Meat wasn't a frozen patty! THEY ACCEPT CARD!!! Get tired of going to cash only places when it comes to these small places. Who knew that the "snappy service" part of this restaurant's name meant that the workers were rude and impatient.. so rude and impatient they almost literal snap the order out of you. Let me take my time.. I've never been here for breakfast. I don't know what you have to put on an omelet. Also the workers look miserable.. no smiles, no "have a nice day" none of that. We're in Kentucky, don't forget about that Southern Hospitality. Also it's rude to look at a customer's phone screen while they're typing. So yeah don't do that either. Ok so I always get ferrils like every day. No problems-EVER.! But tonight tell me why Natalie ignored me completely. I called in an order ahead of time nd it was not done by the time I got there. I waited an hour before I gave up on food completely. I asked her several times if I could go ahead and pay nd she wouldn't answer. I asked how much longer- still no response. .. it's ridiculous. Would not even give one star. We came in and sat down. The cook came over to get our order, never greeted us and had the attitude that we were a nuisance. After he took our order he started to prepare and cook our meal as well as other guest's meals. At this time he reached into the fridge to grab the prepared balls of meat and put them on the grill. Next he grabbed the buns and toppings and started to dress the burgers. He also went to the back to check his phone and eat his burger.Never once did he wash his hands and all of the food was cross contaminated. We are disgusted and will never go back! read more

OMG!! Who doesn't love Ferrell's burgers? This visit is like all the others but the burgers are so delicious that they will dance on your taste buds! The burgers are juicy and hot because it is made to order. I got the BLT (bacon, lettuce, tomato) with fries and my grandson per usual got the Bacon Double Cheeseburger with no pickles and no mustard. The prices are good as well! With two large drinks, fries, BLT and BD cheeseburger, the bill was $12 along with a $5 tip which is $17! Cheap for a small burger joint. Will be back! read more

Growing up in Western Kentucky, I was no stranger to Ferrells but having moved away many years ago, I had forgotten how wonderful it is. I was in Madisonville recently and made my pilgrimage to the best damn burger joint anywhere. As I walked up the street I could smell the wonder aromas coming from the exhaust fan. I had walked back in time where the world was is should be and the memories of my childhood overflowing. I was able to sit in my long ago favorite stool and was greeted by the sweetest young lady who promptly started preparing my food. Two hamburgers with crinkle fries. They were as wonderful as I remembered! Nectar of the gods! Anyone thats in the area MUST stop by and have some wonderful food. Its not fancy by any stretch but wonderful comfort food! read more
