For a university basketball arena, I'm really impressed with the Fertitta Center. Home of the University of Houston Cougars, this is a great venue to catch a game. The center is modern, clean, organized and has all the amenities. I came prepared with a clear bag but entry was still a breeze. Security does a great job pointing people in the direction of their seats and ensuring that stairways and hallways remain clear. In terms of food and drink, I was really impressed with the number of options. They have two full service food counters on either side of the arena. While I personally did not get anything, I saw people passing by with nachos and popcorn. If you want something a little more substantial Antones Poboys and Chick-fil-a were both set up for grab and go. They also had lots of alcoholic beverage options from tall boy beers, liquor for cocktails and even a spiked fresh lemonade stand. The arena has a fan shop onsite, some historical displays and a kid coloring zone. The game itself was well played (they won!) and executed from the announcer to the lights and entertainment. I like this venue! Great view from anywhere in the stands. Parking garage has plenty of spots and is spacious. They do a good job of keeping this venue clean. I like the large screens and how red everything is... you really feel the Cougar spirit here. During commencement season, UH does a good job of managing traffic in the garage and on the streets. read more

Easy, no hassle entry. Great seats wherever you sit! It was nice that they also offered standing room only the day of the event for those of us who were scammed by Stubhub (who kindly refunded our $). Concessions were basic. Nothing to get excited about. They do serve liquor as well. Staff were mostly friendly. And some were excited about the basketball game as well. read more

Whose house? COOG's House. Came to review, Came to represent my Coogs. As a former 2 time Cougar (long story for another day), this was my first time to see the redone Fertitta Center. We came for a basketball game. Parking was a breeze, across the street. Something that was super important to me knowing exactly where UH is located (3rd Ward). We parked in the garage, and easily walked across the street. Everything was systematic while getting in even during COVID. The center itself was clean, and there were several areas of UH history on the wall featuring some of our favorite all time players and teams. (Phi Slama Jama) ayeee. Bathrooms were frequent and easy to access. The updating really makes this ADA, and wheelchair accessible. There was a great gift shop with something for literally everyone from babies to adults. We grabbed a few goodies here. We had a great night, we REPRESENTED, and we will be back! read more

Whose House? Coogs' house! Recently, I have been listening to Houston sports radio and surprisingly they have been talking about UH basketball. They have been emphasizing the value and product. I started looking into it and they were going to have a big game vs LSU. I watched the highlights and they actually won. Making look up ticket prices. I was shocked to find that you could get lower levels for about $15. I went ahead and got a pair for a Sunday game before others caught on. The stadium is brand spanking new. It reminded me a mini toyota center. Same color scheme, just felt similar, it sure does help with Mr. Fertitta himself sitting center court showing the same amount of enthusiasm. I hope the team continues to do well and I could totally see this venue being used for other events also. Glad that there are more venues popping up in Houston. read more

Very disappointing once I stepped foot in this place. The place looks modern and chic outside but it's a fraud once inside. The place is pretty boring with a cheap chip seal sealant on the concourse and enough gray space to get a museum excited. For a place that is supposed to be totally gutted and made to compete with the best in D-1 it falls very short. No increase in the number of restrooms, lacking concessions and the variety of food and beverages is laughable and poorly executed. The donor/VIP is a also a joke. No boxes or private viewing areas. Just the equivalent of first class on a regional carrier. You got bigger seats but your still flying in the equivalent of a 30 year greyhound bus. They reduced the capacity significantly and added this stupid standing room only area for students. I will say it's even More intimate of an environment and quite loud. I guess you get that with such a low ceiling. The reduced seats allowed them to add two score boards at opposite ends of the "Center", they're boards I guess. Finally no nearby parking for the masses unless you are a donor. Leaving a lot of money on the table read more

This is worlds better since it became the Fertitta Center. This is a full lower bowl experience. IE, it feels like a pro sports arena just without the upper bowl. There are no bad seats in the house. Highly reccomend whether you are affiliated with UH or not. read more

Awesome venue for basketball. Seats are well priced and you're close to the action if you are in the lower level. Good prices are reasonable and they also serve craft beers and cocktails. Be careful with seats near the baskets. Some of the sections have awkward angles that aren't conducive to watching the action. read more

Purchased UH Men's Basketball season tickets at The Fertitta Center. The Fertitta Center has great parking,and is a magnificent venue to see big time college basketball. The lighting in the arena is world class. A very futuristic center with comfortable chairs, kind and nice employees,and fun fans. read more

The Fertitta Center is like putting lipstick on a pig. We used to go to events all the time when it was Hofheinz Pavilion, and though the facilities were rather rundown, you could feel the history. Now it is shiny and glitzy, but with the same rude, inhospitable, uncaring staff working at the arena, it is just a very uncomfortable, unenjoyable experience overall. We recently attended a women's volleyball match and were treated like crap from the time we arrived until we happily left. The match was great and we salute the athletes, but 90% of the facility is blocked-off so everyone attending is hearded into a very small area. If you want to be comfortable and relax and away from all the coughing/sneezing people, you cannot. My wife needed to use the rest room, but because almost the entire arena was roped-off, she was forced into a long line at the one open women's rest room. If you like being treated like crap and penned up in a confined area, this is the place for you. read more
