I will keep it real, I am not a football fan. I attended the Cougars versus Wildcats game to support my friend's daughter, who is a cheerleader for the Wildcats. The stadium itself is about as fancy as they come. It honestly felt like something out of the movie Drumline. There is a massive amount of seating across multiple levels, plenty of concession stands, and parking options all around the venue. Parking is not free and can be expensive. I would recommend using Uber, Lyft, or a taxi if possible, since parking fills up quickly for events. During halftime, concession lines were long as expected, but they moved fairly fast. We had great seats and were able to see the fireworks clearly, which was a nice bonus. That said, the seating is fairly tight, so personal space can be limited. One important heads up is to be mindful of seat placement. The sun was beaming directly down on us, and it was extremely hot. Overall, visiting this stadium was an enjoyable experience, even for someone who does not care much for football. read more

Attended the Houston Roughnecks versus the Missouri Showboat game here. It was a challenge getting through the gate to just access our online tickets, which other guest was having the same difficulties and they was getting a bit frustrated. The game was already started and minutes of the quarters was being missed. However we did have the proof of purchase tickets and we got access that way. Afterwards we were able to access the tickets, thanks to the assistance from my friend Daniel & team member. The online tickets process can definitely use some improvement. Very clean Stadium very very clean restrooms food choices were great they even have Trill burger here which is my young man's favorite. And they also stem camps that's linked with University of Houston as well as options for high school and middle school children to attend these games. It's no secret that Texas's obsession with football is off the charts. Be it an NFL game or even a Pop Warner scrimmage, expect lots of people to be watching. That said, the college football atmosphere in the Lone Star State is on par with the vibe at Lollapalooza. Yesterday, my friends and I caught a game at my alma mater at this still-new venue. UH isn't exactly a gridiron powerhouse like the Univ. of Texas and Alabama, but the Coogs know how to pregame like the best of them. No. 18 ranked Iowa State was the guest. While UH failed to deliver an upset special (ISU blanked the Coogs 0-20), my friends and I still had a blast. Everyone from the stadium staff to the home crowd to the visiting ISU faithful was very friendly. My friends have a son in the Spirit of Houston marching band, which allowed us to get a hot dog and a drink on the house. I took advantage of the offer and enjoyed my freebies. Okay, about the stadium, I absolutely love it! Our seats provided an excellent view of the field. Also, we weren't far from the concession stands and restrooms. Even from the concourse, I was still able to see the action. It also helped my side has the giant scoreboard high above. Those with higher seats on the south part are lucky to get a great glance of the Houston skyline, which gives life to the school's "For the city" mantra. It's my first time in this stadium, since the revamp, and it is pretty nice. I don't think there's a bad seat in the entire stadium. There were fans in the seats near the top of the stadium to see the Cougars, even with the rain. The staff seems welcoming and eager to answer any questions, but didn't have any rain ponchos. There are a good number of vendors, one of which is Trill Burger, so my kiddo and I headed right for it. Not a bad wait at all. Overall, we had a good time and plan to return for more events. read more

TDECU stadium is a decent size and the stairs to the nosebleed seats are a bit steep, but there is nothing like sitting on a seat pad layered between you and concrete rooting for your college team. This particular day a heavy storm passed in the area of the stadium bring heavy rains, a brief thunderstorm and lightening strikes within 5 miles of the stadium, but the Coog Safety team was way ahead with its warnings and action plan before the weather made it over the stadium. The cellular service was spotty and one vendor's card service dropped completely so there was some disappointed patrons, me included. Overall, had fun and shared good memories and loud cheers with my daughter. read more

My son and I have been coming to games here for years! Always a great day or night out with family or friends. We enjoy support the Houston cougars! For some odd reason no ones cellphones every work here. Not sure why as I have Verizon. They show full bars and LTE but will simply not work. Can anyone shed some light in this? We cannot be the only ones. We haves at in multiple sections. If it's a day game it can be very hot. We prefer the night games. Today wasn't too bad. It was definitely hot thought. Wear your sunglasses, sun screen and a hat. Parking is decent. Food is priced pretty cheap. I will keep coming to support the Houston cougars for years to come! Go coogs! Great venue! Clean restrooms! Decent food offerings with seatz delivery extremely limited. The beer selection is solid, and lots of easy access. The biggest negative and I mean huge... their parking and exit traffic management SUCKS!! Came here to attend the inaugural game for the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL and it was a good stadium experience. This is a college stadium (University of Houston) so it did lack of some of the more modern amenities that you may find in an NFL Stadium but the game was good and the crowd electric, therefore it made for good entertainment. The seats are a little close to each other so i did feel a little cramped and from my vantage point I only had a good view of the main Jumbo screen and depending on where you sit, you may not have the best view of the two screens in the corners. As with any sporting event the food and drinks are way too expensive. As a season ticket holder, I'll be calling this home for the next couple of months. read more

My first football game was UH Coogs versus the Connecticut Huskies. I haven't been to a football game since high school and forgot how exciting it can be. Home games are always the best. The entire campus gets drenched in red as it was a weekday game. For visitors, parking is usually $10 at garages and various student lots. Definitely recommend coming early. There was a tailgate and also come early for a good seat. The line was a breeze and some souvenirs were handed out. Coming here an hour before the game start has its downside. The sun was burning. What can you expect? Houston weather for ya. Bring a cap or some sunglasses. Anyways, I really enjoy my first football game. The entire stadium was packed with spirit and I lost my voice. read more

Whose house! Coogs house! What a great game against Tulsa last night! Our team fought it down to the last minute, and we won!! I haven't seen so much school spirit from U of H since I graduated here. Don't ask me when I did. Lol! But, just the camaraderie and level of excitement in the stadium was electrifying! The TDECU stadium itself is beautiful and well kempt. There was good air circulation throughout. Food and drinks were expensive, which was to be expected. Thank goodness we ate prior to the game! But, we did have to buy bottled water, since it was still kind of warm and humid outside. The best value IMO would be to buy the 1 L Smart water bottle for about $5. It's better than buying Dasani, which was less than 1 L and priced close to $5. You can share that bottle with another person. Or if you're like me, you can drink the entire bottle yourself. Lol. Parking is a pain as well. So try to come at least 30 min earlier to find a decent parking spot. Unfortunately, we had to pay $20 for the parking lot off of Scot and Simmons St. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience here, and will return for future games to support U of H. My first visit to the stadium a couple of years ago was more from a "poor man's" view of having to pay for parking, walking up a bunch of stairs, and then paying for a bunch of bottled water because it was really hot and there was no single water fountain around. It was still fun, but for balance, I thought I would update this review from an affluent alumni point of view with club level seating and access to the buffet. It's a completely different experience. For starters, everything is so much more relaxed. You get to go in from the back door, through air conditioning and then if you have a wrist band, you get full access to a bunch of great food - all you can eat. They had hot dogs, nachos, fancy cheese, fruit salad, tender loin, etc. and then they bring out pecan pie or other deserts at halftime too! I must have gained like 3 pounds after that game. Oh yeah, the game...to be honest, I actually like the upper level "TV view" of the game better. in the lower level, the opposing stadium lights are right in your face and the camera dolly blocks your view a little. On top of that, I noticed the poor people coming to sit next to us when it was clear they hadn't pay so I had security escort them back to the upper levels where they belong. cheap bastards. (Ok that last part is a joke).. So there you have it, this is a fun place to watch a game regardless of whether you want to go to the nose bleeds or act like a rich alumnus and rub elbows with your fellow leaders of industry. read more

I had been to their old stadium, however, I was lucky enough to visit their new stadium this year vs their game against Arizona. Their old coach was coming back into town and the brought the crowd! It was an amazing atmosphere. The stadium, does not go to capacity on most games, but even at partially full it still gets loud. With it newly built it has all of the modern amenities. My only complaint was the paid parking. They had a lot of pass parking, but the paid parking was pretty far offsite and none of the workers knew where to direct people. I was just lucky enough to drive towards the gym area and found paid surface parking within minutes of a shuttle bus. read more

I may be biased, but I love coming here! If you're not in the 300-section row 20+, your seat is probably pretty good. Once you get up that high, you start getting winded climbing the steps and the air starts getting a bit thinner. The crowd can be amazing (when the stadium is packed and fans want to make some noise). They serve beer all around the stadium and have the standard stadium fare as well as Chick-fil-a if you find them. I've also found that the entrance gates move the lines pretty quickly. The view of the Houston skyline is pretty awesome. I miss the character of Robertson, but TDECU is a great facility upgrade. GO COOGS!!!! read more

Wow, this is the easily the best fully outdoor stadium in Houston. It is modern in both its design and its amenities, it's got plenty of infrastructure to support games with a large parking garage, many outlying parking lots around campus, and plenty of public transportation (even light rail station coming in the next few months). This place is HUGE (although quite majestic) compared to old Robertson Stadium, so get a game plan together about where to meet your group like you would at NRG Stadium because it can be quite a hassle to walk around this place a couple of times. If you are not a good stair climber, I also urge you to sit in a lower section. The top seats can be murder to walk up, but it's really just the nature of having a place like this. The view of the nearby Downtown skyline is awesome, and seating is sturdy. Once this place gets going, it can be a real pleasure to watch a football game, and if you haven't been yet, you are doing yourself a disservice. read more

Some idiot in a New York hat was so trashy yesterday at the opening of the Houston Roughnecks game. His coworker told him to take off his hat for the national anthem and he refused and was saying dumb things about it. I didn't care about that much, it was his attitude towards customers. It wasn't just him. A lot of those workers had terrible attitudes. Me, my 8 friends, and dad are eating beforehand and not getting a single thing from the concessions at the rest of the home games. For the first time ever, the Houston Cougar football team will play in a stadium that was built just for them. While the Coogs returned to campus about 15 years ago to play at a refurbished Robertson, that stadium was built in 1942 by HISD for HISD. I love the wide and open concourses. Combined with the corrugated metal mesh exterior which allows air flow and natural light into the stadium, there always seems to be a breeze. The restrooms and concessions are plentiful. Aramark (who serves food at Reliant for Texan games) has the food contract. Each of the concession stands has its own kitchen, so the food will be freshly prepared. There are nearly 4000 parking places right next to the stadium, many more parking lots on campus and the Metro SouthEast Light Rail line has a stop 75 yards from one of the stadium entrances. Once that line is operational, fans can park downtown or anywhere along the line and ride the train to the game. There is a lot of green space around the stadium for tailgating. Cullen Boulevard will close for game days to allow for tailgating tents to set up along the street. Finally, I really like the skyline view from the "home" or South stands. UH hit a home run with this stadium. read more

This is one of my favorite stadiums. As a Cougar alum it's great that we finally have such a first class facility. Seating: Not a bad seat in the house and the student section in the end zone gets crazy but lots of fun. Concessions: Decent quality stadium / ballpark food and reasonably priced. Free refills on the souvenir size soda and large popcorn are offered which can really help out with the game day budget. Scoreboard / Videoboard: 2 huge HD video boards are great for watching replays and can be seen clearly from any seat in the house. Overall this is a fun stadium and makes it very enjoyable to spend an afternoon or evening enjoying college football or high school football playoffs. read more

Gorgeous stadium. Nice breeze coming thru on a hot August night. Concourses are wide open as Parker B. states. Good screen, good sound. This is gonna be great for traffic once the light rail gets online. I saw several meals, chicken tenders which looked good and I don't know if the BBQ smell was from Aramark or a tailgater but the smell was divine. One thing that struck me as very, very odd, is I could find NO water fountains. I was in section 104, and I wanted to go fill my empty water bottle. I walked around to three bathrooms, asked three workers, a student, a lady in the bathroom, and an emergency medical person on staff there at the stadium, who I thought, would know for certain if there is a water fountain. The medical person told me there are none but I could go to the gate and they could give me a cup of water. If this no water fountain clause was something Aramark insisted on in their contract to get people to buy a $5. bottle of water, it didn't work. I filled up at the bathroom faucet. The thing that I will always, always remember about the stadium rocked my happiness (and outlook on mankind). As soon as we left the stadium and were walking towards the garage, what to our wondering eyes should appear but a horrifying amount of trash left on the greenspace right outside the stadium. It looked like a there was a raving rock concert or tornado had just sped by. The poor ladies who had to stay and pick up all the trash were standing there, stunned, as to what to do first - there was that much of all kinds of trash laying on the grass. I hope this isn't a portent of how this brand spanking new stadium is going to be treated because it was an embarrassment, and, well, it actually hurt my heart a little, to to see how people left Whose House? The new stadium is really nice. Not really a bad seat in the house. The access is easy. Watch out that you don't stand in line to get in and then find out that the line is for either something else or for people still needing tickets or for students getting in with their IDs. If you have your tickets in advance, you can walk right up to the gate and get in. Only reason for no 5th star, ARAMARK. They control the vending. So, be ready for undertrained, barely competent employees charging you exorbitant prices for not so special food and beverages after waiting in line for forever because the person on the register doesn't know how it works! read more

Came for a UH game (duh) and also toured it before it opened. It's a nice bare bones stadium. According to the news, it was a bit over budget, so behind some banners are spots where future development is to take place. But the suites look nice, as does the press box, which has cool windows that open up. Also, the bathrooms are air conditioned, which is a vast improvement over Robertson. The stadium is pretty open, so if there's any sort of weather action happening, be prepared. Also, the concourse area is pretty open too, which is nice for air flow and traffic, but bad if it's raining hard, so don't expect any protection from the elements there either. Next to the stadium is a 2,000ish spot parking garage. The stadium seats 40,000. Good luck with parking, and don't expect to park in the garage. The garage is reserved for pass holders only (read: Season ticket holders). We drove around in circles till we found a lot not too far from the stadium. We think there should have been students taking money or checking for passes, but...that didn't happen, so we got in for free. I saw lots ranging from $30-10. I was a bit nervous about sketchy lots, so this looked a regular campus lot that I was willing to risk the boot. We sat in the lower bowl near the 30 yard line. The sightlines were great (when the action was on our side), and I can tell you the sightlines in the upper levels are great too. But, as you get further up, the pitch of the seats are great for viewing, but not great if you have a fear of heights. The stairs are a bit steep up there, so be careful. Also, the stadium has a lovely view of downtown Houston. Get seats in section 102-104 for the view. As for food options, beyond the standard hot dog/hamburger fare, there is a Chickfila and some interesting pulled pork nachos. The game we attended was poorly attended, probably due to the time change and impending inclimate weather (umbrellas not allowed). So, the it felt a little too big, but I think on a normal night (and hotter) the stadium would probably an intimate place to catch a UH game without being too cozy on hot days. read more

I attended an event here on it's opening night. The views were amazing. We had seats somewhere near the top of section 319 and if you get here early and have any vertigo at all, watch out, it is steep. The seats were amazing. The people and the staff were great. There is a small issue of a serious lack of bathrooms in the third level, however I think they solved that problem with the performance on the field and now no one has to sit up top for a game anymore. The food selection was nice. But once again I am sure that has thinned out through the season. My 2 stars are related to the product that this place produces. This stadium would get 5 stars if Mack would have stayed in budget and finished the stadium on time. Instead it is now 17 million over budget and incomplete? Also, if you open any type of a venue and you are going to charge money for people to go, you really should destroy the easiest schedule the school has ever seen, and not lose to UTSA and Tulane. Overall, it will look great when they are finished and the tarps are installed up top. read more

I was supremely unhappy with the parking system and the stadium, but I wanted to write a review to give a huge positive shoutout to the food service folks. I ordered a pretzel with my order and they told me it would be 2-3 minutes. Turned out to be much longer. People I saw in line while waiting were super rude and passive aggressive and the folks working the counter handled it really well. After the time turned into much longer on my pretzel, 3 different people came out of the kitchen to explain to me why it took so long. It wasn't too big of a deal to me, I don't cry over spilled milk, but I wanted to compliment them on how awesome they were. All 3 came out, apologized, clearly cared. They also gave individually gave me so much complimentary food, in addition to the pretzel, that I could barely carry it. I thought their attitude and the way they treated me and the free food was just really awesome and thought they deserved to be recognized for doing such a great job. It really was no biggie on the time issue but they really went out of their way to do a great job and make it right and that's pretty special these days. I must admit that I am spoiled by enclosed and air conditioned stadiums located in Houston, so TDECU Stadium was more than disappointing when I learned it was no more advanced than my 50 year old high school stadium. Bench seats, no back rests - people stacked on people? NO ONE checking seating areas, so large and unfriendly students can crowd down around your area with no challenge from ushers? Skimpy screens to show important replays, little or no entertainment value makes me mad I spent extra for no real VALUE seating. We saw a great game, so I feel bad about the poor review of Cougar Stadium, but I gotta give an honest opinion, right? read more

Excitedly attended a high school football game at the new stadium. Parking was confusing whether to go to garage or the lot and whether there was different parking for Home or Away. Ended up in the lot then realized the garages are closer to the stadium. The walk isn't very long but I have a hip joint issue so it was a disappointment. The stadium itself is very nice, it appears to have a lot of upscale indoor space and rooms. I loved the tables on the lower level at the top. Very nice feature. The food offered at the concessions was better than what we normally see and I'm sure it would have been good if we could have bought any. My husband left to get food about 5 minutes before halftime, halftime was 28 minutes, finally when the 3rd quarter started he came back with nothing. He said he wasn't even near the front of the line after all that time. People from the other side of the stadium were coming to our side because of the same issue over there. My daughter did make it in line but they were out of almost all sodas, plastic souvenir cups, and chicken strips. They only had 2 concession areas open on each side which was part of the problem but running out of food and to be out of most sodas when the game started is just poor planning. Another issue was the width of the walkway behind the lower level. It is way too narrow for crowds to move around. After the game it was like bumper to bumper traffic of people. Then some genius decided it was a good time to move one of those big grey dumpsters that they pickup trash in through the crowd. Really? Can't you wait until the crowd has dispersed a little? This was only for high school playoff game so the lower levels were basically full, except end zones, No one on 2nd or 3rd level. I would go here again, park in a different area and sit in a different place for a quick exit but really sad that a new stadium would have such issues, some like the narrow walkway are unfixable. The best thing about this stadium is the jumbo screen and the breeze that came through. It is also nice to see the investment in UH. read more
