Magic Cobra is a great shop. I love the look with all the flash on the wall and the Traditional Aesthetic on the store front. Oogie and Rich Bustamente have been tattooing me for years and I can't imagine my skin without their painstaking care, professionalism and devotion to their craft. Oogie has been tattooing me for over twenty years and has completed a lower leg traditional sleeve made up of many smaller pieces, a Japanese 3/4 arm sleeve and a collaboration sleeve. She was able to help me think strategically about how and where to place tattoos so they would look better on me. She has a mastery of linework that creates intricate details like the sticker border and gloves in my Luigi piece but can also create loose lines in the flowers that hold the watercolor effect together. In regards to color theory and shading she has been able to create dimension and color that has held up for as much as twenty years and still looks great. Oogie is a talented artist that helps me realize my ideas for my body and makes them look better than I imagined because she adds complex details, positions and sizes tattoos to fit body parts in the best way possible and create quality artwork that looks great for years to come. She help make my skin tell stories about my identity. Rich aka Busta has been tattooing me for over a decade. He is responsible for the double cover up on my back. It took a lot of discussion, figuring out placement to hide the existing tattoos and integrate them into the Foo Dog. While I picked the Foo Dog, I could have not done the thinking myself on how to cover up the two large pieces. I am so happy with the final product. Rich drew my back piece in a way that it moves with the joints in my back. I'm a XXXL and Rich was able to draw exact proportions for an extremely large size. He has a mastery of using form and space to create amazing tattoo work. Each successive time Rich has tattooed me I've given him more freedom to create and I've benefitted from his advice and knowledge. Since my back piece Rich has worked on a collaboration piece that has traditional Japanese themes to match my backpiece and incorporates new styles that I love but wouldn't have thought of putting together on my own. There are elements of magic surrealism in my fox with a realistic face and body that uses mastery of color blending to create a fur like texture that makes the fox look like it's in motion. Rich's unique talent for horror and portraiture was applied to my make the art I have better than I could imagine. I can't recommend Rich and his artistic talent enough. read more

This review is for Magic Cobra park slope! With great emphasis on the incredible ​Rich! I have always, always been a huge classic horror fan and told myself one day I'd get a full sleeve/leg sleeve of the classic horror giants themselves. I have consulted with many artists who claimed they could execute such requests with no luck I was so scared to get faces on my skin as it's permanent and well I'd be mortified if I got Frankenstein and he looked like a hot mess ! Speed up to 2022 and from a friend's reference I found Rich at magic cobra and well.. let's just say I'm already done with half of my leg.. it's fully adorned with all that magical classic horror. Not only did he nail every single detail but he explained to me in depth his vision and his vision merged with mine and was exactly what I was expecting. He's patient, he's also a true horror fan! And his attention to detail is way above average. ​Rich always ​delivers. Wherever I go if my legs are exposed I get stopped by people from all over asking where I get my work done and how absolutely bad ass it looks. Getting my tattoo done by Sam B at Magic Cobra was a great experience! He asked and answered lots of questions throughout the whole tattoo process from my photo inspiration to aftercare. He also listened to the vibes I was going for and made a design that I felt really confident in and liked a lot. He seemed really enthusiastic about hearing my ideas. Sam cares deeply about the work that he does so he explained everything (which was very kind since it was my second tattoo). I ultimately spent a great deal of time in the chair where Sam and I were cracking jokes. The vibes of the shop were great. Walk-ins are welcome and it really shows. The staff were super charismatic and approachable, conversing with Sam and I as he was working. Nonetheless, he remained focused throughout these little chats. The shop also has a little library of a wide variety of art books which I loved. Sam and I remained in contact so I could ask him any questions about aftercare and touch ups. I followed Rich Bustamante for years on Facebook, my friend told me about him. I saw him post some incredible pieces and always loved his work. He had a period where he would post something he drew and asked if anyone wanted to have that image tattooed on them. Rich drew a sick Jack Nicholson shining piece. Where he has the glass of Jack and was going to break his sobriety. The image spoke to me, having it been one of my favorite movies ever. I messaged him I loved the image and would love for it to be tattooed on me. Rich said great can you come in tomorrow. So the next Day I was driving to Brooklyn. Rich did a huge piece on the back of my calf in 4 hours full color. He even played the Shining movie while he tattooed me. The piece gets so many comments from strangers. It's one of the best pieces I have!!! Rich was extremely cool. It was a pleasure getting work from him, and it's amazing work. If you have the opportunity to have him do a piece on you, don't wait!!! well, I've done 3 tattoo color redo and so far 2 cover ups and may I say they are beautiful. My tattoo artist is OOGIE. I found Oogie on Instagram from another post made by someone I followed and fell in love with her work ever since. You can give Oogie a small thought or idea about what u are trying to get and she will execute it and finesse it with her touch of creativity. For most people that know exactly what they want that's great but for others like me that just wanted a cover up with no idea what to get Oogie shared her thoughts and opinion which made it easier for me to pick something that I am currently so I'm love with. I had the pleasure of getting tattooed by Rich 6 years ago and he is my go to guy! If you want to talk about an amazing experience from the consultation to getting the work done and it coming out 1000x better than expected, this is the place and this is the guy to see! First off, I have to mention that I live in NJ and hate the drive into NYC but I make the trip every time because I wouldn't get work done by anyone else. Rich has a great attention to detail and his use of deep color in his pieces are so crisp and clean. Before going to Rich, I was worried about going bold with colors. I was tattooed at this location by Victoria Lagano and I had the best experience ever! Social settings tend to make me a bit nervous but as soon as I walked in I felt how welcoming and chill the vibe was. Victoria was so kind, down to earth, and made me feel very comfortable through the whole process. The design I picked was just one of the many awesome and bold flash pieces she had to choose from. You can really tell how much she enjoys her work. We had such a fun time with my tattoo and she even added a cute and unique pop of color. I absolutely love it! Finally decided to get a sleeve donè after thinking on it for a few years. Worked with Rich on the concept that I was interested in. He had me send him some pictures and went to work laying out exactly what I wanted. His ability to include even the smallest of details and really bring all the details to life was amazing. I walked past Magic Cobra many times wondering if they did piercings because I didn't really see any advertisement. When I finally popped in to ask I was introduced to Sam. Sam was very welcoming and answered my questions. I returned the next day for my piercing and had an even better experience. Sam was very kind and gentle with the piercing. He kept me talking the whole time to distract me. I didn't feel a thing. I have since had one other piercing and he even changed out jewelry for me. If you want QUALITY work come to this shop. I drive 2 hours to get sessions done by RICH. He is truly talented and all his work are flawless. The details/color in his work says it all.
