Fichte, Endl and Elmer are awesome! While on vacation in Niagara Falls, my husband developed symptoms of a serious eye problem. We called FEE's after hours service at 6:30AM and received a return call from Dr. Elmer about 10 minutes later. Dr. Elmer's staff helped us get in to see a doctor that same day. The office was immaculate and their staff was very professional. After the exam, Dr. Shenkle provided us with a detailed electronic report to take home with us. When we got home and my husband had additional concerns, Kim helped answer his questions and provided good advice. Called there for an exam and potentially a touch up on my lasik that Dr. Endl screwed up 20 years ago and the Secretary kept pushing me to tell her what my insurance information was. My guess is since everyone in WNY has had lasik and they can't claim fame to taking care of the Bills or the Sabers anymore, they're greedy for money. Who in the world turns cash down?? Dr. Fichte did PRK on me 15 years ago, and my vision is 20/20. No regression either, it keeps getting better.

I have been a faithful patient for about 20 years. Dr. Elmer performed my PRK when I was about 29 years old. I was unable get the regular LASIK procedure since I have a thin cornea. Since I am a Teacher, I scheduled my surgery late June but was asked to work Summer School. A few weeks later I had fully recovered and I returned to work. My first day back was horrific! The florescent lights, the dust and everything sent me back to "recovery" mode. I called Dr. Elmer's office which was just Fichte and Endle at that time. They saw me the next day, put me back on steroid drops and told me to go in a completely dark room to help with extreme light sensitivity. It took the entire rest of the Summer to heal. Over the past 20ish years I've gone for yearly check ups and of course the occasional conjunctivitis aka Pinkeye visits which come with teaching. Since I have a thin cornea and require steroid drops for any type of relief, I must go to an ophthalmologist to make sure it's actually just Pinkeye . Here we are in 2024, I'm 47, I have new allergies, my classroom has carpets and I'm constantly getting conjunctivitis and none of the treatments my Dr. has prescribed are working. My Dr. writes me out of work to heal. Weeks later, I'm back in the office with no relief and my surgeon, Dr Elmer now takes over my care. I follow his instructions, no relief. I called the office several times to speak with the Triage Nurses who were very kind but they refused to let me come in. Mind you, I'm out of work, I can barely see, I have extreme light sensitivity, allergies, conjunctivitis and pain. During this time my job wants proof I am still under a Dr's care. After 2 weeks of suffering with pain, irritation and constant tearing I go to the Amherst office. Joyce the Office Manager gives me 2 new preservative free drops but I was still unable to see a Dr or even get a note stating I'm still under a Dr's care. Yesterday I finally see the Dr Elmer. I waited in the office for over an hour and during that time, I kept my eyes closed behind dark shades because the waiting area lights were extremely bright. Dr Elmer examined me and says my eyes are "worse than before". Here is where the 1 Star turns into 0 Stars. Dr. Elmer tells me he's going to refer me to a cornea specialist and takes me off all meds except preservative free tears and Tyrvaya. After my exam I ask Dr Elmer for a letter for work and he says he will make sure his Office Manager sends one. I am a very hardworking person and I am suffering. Today I get an email from the Office Manager with my actual Medical Record. I am not asking for Workers Compensation or anything else. I just want support. How can I show my HR Department my actual Medical Records. To Whom it May concern... is currently under our care until we can figure out a stable treatment plan. Why is that so difficult??? After 20 ish years this is the lack of care and support I have received. Summary: IMO Fichte, Endle and Elmer only care about new surgical patients and the PRK they performed on me, they no longer offer. I would Not recommend. 0 Stars given. read more

Dr. Elmer is a joy, however Cory in the glasses department is an arrogant nightmare. I paid up front for extra on my glasses but when I went to try them, they did NOT work for me and I could NOT see out of them and did NOT take them. Asked for a refund and also to credit my insurance. They did credit my insurance after me calling them numerous times, however they did not refund my credit card charge nor have a credit at their office for new glasses after I finally seeing the doctor after waiting a year to see him, I was told they will NOT refund my $50 and I would have to pay another $50-$70 towards my new glasses, told me to take my prescription and go elsewhere! Dr. Elmer was awesome. However where this went south- watching the eye glass people be unprofessional and outright rude to a customer. i walked out and it was not even me they were rude to. i would never in a million years do business with a company that behaves this way. not to mention- how can they alter someone's script without examining their eyes to see if the "new" script is going to even work for that person!!! (this is what the gray hair guy and the customer were discussing when employee was rude) nope you do not deserve my hard earned money when you make fun of customers and talk to them so disrespectfully. read more

I was really hoping for a positive experience here so I feel bad leaving a negative review. I did not feel like I was a priority. I had to call them multiple times to get answers. The second time I didn't receive a a call back for a month. My vision is to important to made to feel that way. I went to another vision correction facility and they got me right in. If you are reading this trying to decide where to go, my advice, go tot the other place. read more

As I pulled up I noticed they had plenty of parking. As I walked in it looked like a cafe in the waiting room. They had a fireplace in the middle, TVs, tables, comfy couches and chairs. To the right was an eyeglass shop. The receptionist took care of me right away and I got to pay my copay and got a receipt. They pulled me back right away to do the eye exam and get me ready to see the doctor. read more

I called to make appointment. They called me back and told me that dr. Kostick and Florida have never heard of me and didn't have my records. I then called the doctor in Florida talk to Melissa who is very friendly and pleasant and found them instantly. Called the receptionist back who handle this so unprofessional. But evidently they don't need my $10,000 to fix my eyes Ross Eye Institute can do it. I have never seen such unprofessionalism in my life. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
