My friend and I ate two meals there about 3 weeks ago while on a 3 day fishing trip. The first visit we ordered their burger which was only ok though the fries and accompaniments were excellent. The next visit we had them cook (fry) a redfish we had caught the day before and it was excellent though I would recommend to them to use a crust more like one I achieve with Panko which would up their game considerably (cost was $12.95 apiece with two sides). Service was excellent! All personnel were friendly and prompt though admittedly we were there in the middle of the week and that town gets BUSY on the weekends so service times of course would suffer. My wife and I Tried the well known sea food buffet for the first time. We both agree that it was worth the trip and the money! The seafood entrees were very good. The crab was the best of the best! We also enjoys the prime rib, nice cut of meat!!! They also make a very good brandy old fashion sour...a must...if you are from the mid west! Food was okay, the bartender was off that night we ordered a few drinks and the waitress didn't know how to make a White Russian which was what my grandma wanted, I ordered a mermaid water(on of their menu drinks) the waitress told us she had no idea how to make them so she "hooked us up" but she must not drink much because by hooking us up she added a ton of blue curaçao to the drink and it tasted terrible. Also not a kid friendly place, did not have any type of milk or non carbonated (my 3yo hates carbonation) anything besides lemonade and tea also couldnt make a grilled cheese, said they didn't have the ingredients which I highly doubt but nonetheless their kids menu is lacking. food was hot or miss I got gator bites they weren't seasoned well and weren't fried long enough my dad got a cheese burger and onion rings he said his sandwich was extremely dry and his onion rings were rubbery. Spending the week in Steinhatchee for a weekday getaway. Disappointed that alot of restaurants were closed Monday and Tuesday but understand that business is down during the week. Locals recommend Fiddlers. From the moment we walked thru the door the service was excellent. Raymond was our server and he was spot on. Drinks right away. Helpful with local things to do. Fried pickels and fish spread were good. Pasta dishes average. Shrimp and grits very tasty. Grouper grilled with the 7 season was moist and quite good. When we left Raymond came to the lobby to say goodbye. We throughly enjoyed our visit and would recommend this restaurant. Beware the online menu might not be available. We went back to Fiddler's today for the Mother's Day buffet and to say it was a disappointment is an understatement. It was not the buffet of Mother's Day past. I understand it is new owners and there are seating and serving restrictions but to charge $25.00 per person for what was served today is ridiculous. We are in Florida and in a fishing town and the best fish you could serve on the buffet was catfish? The catfish was not even cooked in the center. The remainder of the food was cheap snow crab legs, fried chicken, bacon, sausage, ham, squash biscuits and potatoes, nothing worth $25.00. The dessert consisted of fruit and prepackaged breakfast pastries. We will definitely not be back. read more

We have been to Fiddler's in the past. Then it wasn't amazing but was ok. This visit I regretted our choice! We were there Sunday afternoon May 19,2019. It was like everyone had given up, our waitress definitely didn't want to be there her attitude was such you definitely felt you were a bother. Our menu's were dirty, the first utensils I unwrapped from their paper napkin were dirty as the other place settings had not been removed from the table I found clean ones. Looking around the restaurant it needed a extensive cleaning throughout. My sweet ice tea and my husbands coke were brought to us in small plastic disposable bar cups not glasses you expect when paying the prices here. We ordered an appetizer which looked like cafeteria food and was not good. I had grilled shrimp how you can get shrimp that tough I truly don't know. The hush puppies I could not eat at all the sweet potato fries not good the plate of salad unappealing and not fresh mine had lettuce that was going bad. My husband had prime rib NEVER again it was so tough. I regret because we love finding out of the way places to enjoy that I'll probably not return to Fiddler's.. this was a Sunday afternoon the 'buffet tables' the arguing we overheard from the staff when we walked in the total lack of "HOSPITALITY" the lack of cleanliness.. I feel they don't really care about their customers.. I definitely wouldn't recommend this restaurant.. the only reason I gave them one star is the young man that sat us did remove a chair for me to roll up to the table in my wheelchair.. read more

WORST PLACE EVER! If I could give it negative stars I would. The food was substandard to kick things off. We ordered the Seafood Platter, which at the price should have been a decent meal, it was about the portion size for a child. The food was so salty we couldn't even eat it! The scallops were about the size of a Lima bean, the Flounder fillet could fit in the palm of my hand and was about 2 fingers wide, the shrimp were VERY small and had absolutely no flavor and the oysters looked more like rooster fries and all of it tasted like the lid accidentally came off the salt shaker during the seasoning process! The room was overpriced at $100 a night considering it was supposed to be a newly renovated room ( that is what the clerk said) it had no mini frig, no microwave, smelled like mold and had no chairs for the black moldy balcony. To make things worse when we woke at 7 am there was NO WATER!! We couldn't even go to the bathroom! When I finally got ahold of someone I was informed that the city must be doing something to the water and when I asked for an adjustment to our rate for the inconvenience I was told "I am sorry but it isn't our fault and we cannot adjust your rate, but I can send a nearby off site manager to try and check out the problem", which we NEVER saw! Their booking agent did however call me back at 9:30 to tell me the city had mistakenly turned off the wrong valve ... REALLY?! And still no discount on the room. BAD, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! They are renovating the restaurant and rooms and really they need to be renovating the staff!!! read more

Sorry to say but we just had a horrible experience. Salad bar had not Lettuce, appetizers finally came out after several requests to see what was taking so long. Food for 8 people never even came out and not even an apology from any manager. On the way out others were telling us we were lucky that we didn't get our meals. Nice location, very clean, we had high hopes for this place. The prices were high, so we expected something nice. My meal was steak, baked potato, and salad (15.99). The potato had been cooked previously, cooled, and reheated. The texture was like a previously refrigerated potato. It was hot on the outside, but too cool inside to melt the butter. I could not eat it. They were far too generous with the salad dressing. There was more dressing than salad. I could not eat it. The steak, cooked med-rare, as I like it...had a grissly piece on my first bite that I had to spit out. Once past that, the steak was fine. My date ordered the seafood buffet (28.99). Most of the food on the buffet was medium quality or less. He did eat enough shrimp and crab legs to make it worthwhile, but the vegetables, bread, and even the prime rib were almost inedible. I don't like to complain...and tried to find a way to be happy, but just couldn't. Fiddlers is a typical seafood restaurant by the bay. Decent atmosphere, decent staff, and decent foot. Service is spotty and food quality his spotty. If you're there on a good weekend and you're important then you're greeted with a smile. If not you're typical table fare. As far as timing in July, you're looking at a 40 minute wait or more on entrees for a group over 4 people. There are better options for the price and especially the staff. Don't be surprised if you're forgotten amongst the other travelers dining around you. Expect dinner to take much longer that you would hope. read more

WORST service we have ever had. Not enough wait staff, not enough kitchen staff. Wouldn't know how the food is because we've never made it that far. The first time we went, we had a fairly large party so we waited over an hour to sit. I let it slide because I thought they had to make special accommodations for us. Once we were seated (around at least 5 or 6 still empty tables), we ordered almost immediately because we were all so hungry. About 45 minutes later, we were served warm, limp starter salads. An hour after that, there was still no sign of our food. We walked out. I have NEVER walked out of a restaurant before, and I honestly felt bad doing it. A few weeks ago, we thought we would give it another chance. Three years had passed, and we were a much smaller party (8 people). We waited an hour and half when they told us it would only be 30 mins. And to add insult to injury we saw multiple open tables in the restaurant. When we asked one of the wait staff to check where we were on the list, she promptly forgot about us and never returned to answer our question. We finally found one of the hostesses who told us there was a hold on the kitchen and they could not seat anyone who they knew they wouldn't be able to feed. We left again. read more

Great service and seafood! My husband's favorite is the smoked wings. They are smoked fresh and delish. Their seafood is lightly battered and fresh. Fresh prime rib when offered is awesome too along withe the ribeye. My favorite side is black beans and rice. The salad is basic but always fresh and I believe the ranch dressing is homemade. Where as I haven't been there personally... my father has went several times over the years and was looking forward to staying there again... but had a TERRIBLE experience. First of all he said the same room he has gotten every visit was twice the price but I told him could just be a demand issue. But what made me the most mad ... while he was at the bar they had a giant cut out of President Trump standing right next to where he was sitting. Who the cut out represented wasn't the issue... he just moved it so that it wasn't so close to his chair... said it felt like someone was over his shoulder. The bar tender after seeing this, while my dad was in the bathroom, moved the cut out back and this time CLOSER to his seat without asking why he wanted it moved... so he moved it again while he finished his drink... when he got up to leave she moved it back and yelled "This is Trump Territory!" Well apparently it's oblivious rude bar tender territory too. He doesn't have a problem with Trump... just wanted some space. My husband and I were planning on staying and visiting during scallop season this year with his parents and my sisters family based on his past visits.... but we will be considering other options. ANY other options. Political views not withstanding (which i don't think customer service based businesses should be flaunting their views) but this place has zero hospitality if it will treat an return patron like this. My favorite restaurant in Steinhatchee!Their appetizers are awesome. Check out their awesome wings and the onion rings made into a loaf. You can't go wrong. The seafood is awesome and the servers and bartenders are wonderful. For those of you who don't like seafood they have steaks and pasta dishes. The only item that needs improvement, is the salad bar. Horrible management and service!!! Had a reservation at 7 for 30 people. Changed the reservation to 7:30 without a phone call to us. Waited over an hour to be seated and then it was just because we all went into the waiting area. They still didnt make arrangements for us all, had to seat 8 at 2 separate tables. Huge groups without reservations were being seated before us and when asked why they said because they only have 12 y'all have 30. Tried to talk to management about substituting shrimp for oysters and she was the rudest bitch I have ever met in management and stated that the menu was in writing and the reservation were not. 1 waitress for 30 people. Because we were upset about the lack of concern for our reservations, it seemed that instead of being accommodating and fixing the issue, they were rude and condescending and how dare we be upset about their negligence. BTW, this was a bday party for my 20 year old daughter and my 74 year old mother in law. We had 3 elders who had to stand for over an hour. We def will not be back. read more

Don't be fooled by the pretty exterior and proximity to the coast-the seafood here was terrible-ordered the 3 item combo-scallops were tiny frozen bay scallops, the mystery fish they tried to pawn off as grouper was pancake thin, cooked to death, also obviously frozen and the crab claws were tiny and disgusting. Even worse was that our server never came back to check on us so we sat there and nibbled on the edible parts,(hush puppies and corn nuggets) and left miserable. She could tell how disappointed we were but did nothing. My husband commented that it reminded him of the crappy "seafood" places he went to as a kid in Kansas. By the way-how about a uniform?? Tonight, in the middle of Steinhatchee's busy season, (when the only 2 restaurants in town should be at their best,) this one failed miserably. I cannot speak on the other... Tonight we had a party of 6 and were seated immediately, that should have been a sign... orders taken, apps come out. Onion Loaf, which is a bunch of fried onion rings in the Loaf shape- good. The calamari... Hot, but awful. No seasoning, minimal flavor, however, the marinara was good. The meals... fired oysters, I believe they were canned, then fried. He sent them back & would not order a replacement entree. Not something you expect this close to Apalachicola. Fried shrimp, small shrimp, not fresh, no seasoning in breading. She also left one dinner on the tray and walked off, leaving one diner without their entree, after she took away the salad one person was still eating. (No awareness at all to our needs.) The grilled shrimp also had no seasoning, but were cooked well. Side of vegetables, also unseasoned. Even the kids portions of fried catfish weren't seasoned. They most certainly wouldn't exists if it weren't for the lack of options in this area. Try Deal's in Perry, it's worth the 45 min drive compared to its Steinhatchee counterparts! read more
