The only thing we got was mullet dip for appetizers at home. Not the best, included scales.

They have great burgers and BBQ sandwiches and we always get our smoked mullet from them when making dip at home.

The decor is country-cute and at times unintentionally funny: signs warning a would-be robber of how quick the owner is with his gun sit right across from folksy art proclaiming God is love and to smile at everyone. The smoked meat itself is really good--my brisket sandwich was great. Cole slaw was my side and it was fine, too. However, seems they just give you a choice of what sauce you want then furnish two small to-go style containers of that sauce, unlike Akin's or Pearl BBQ both of which have more varieties of sauce and have them in squeeze bottles on each table. Now, I did not ask for more sauce or to try all the ones they had, but the way they phrased it seemed like you just got to pick one. I don't think in any case the BBQ overall is quite as good as Pearl's or Akin's but it's certainly good enough. If you're visiting the springs or passing through, it's a good enough place to stop for a bite and I'm eager to try more of the menu. The pies look good too--I was told no, they don't make them there but a local lady does for them so these are in fact homemade pies. Some people have complained about parking but the dirt lot seemed fine to me and getting in and out is easier than at the neighboring Lighthouse Restaurant at least.

We also had a small grilled redfish and fried oyster dinners with sides. Both were tasty but the oysters were the star of our lunch. The swamp cabbage was different than I've had before and it was good. We wanted Mullet Backs but they didn't have any mullet dishes available. Guess we'll just have to try it again on our next visit to the area.

Cindy our server greeted us immediately after being seated, we were seated in the back of the restaurant which allowed me to look at what the locals were eating, yeah almost every table had oysters either raw on the shell or chargrilled which were all sized large. There are lots of options here no matter your preference We both got crispy fried catfish and I added fried shrimp I opted for a side I've never seen on any menu anywhere "Swamp Cabbage" (sautéed heart of palm with bacon) I covered it with a healthy dose of Trappy's Pepper Vinegar, it's definitely an acquired taste I'm sure but delicious, we also ordered fries which came with a generous portion of thumb size hushpuppies served with guava jam. We also ordered an order of Lacy's Rockin Oysters for an appetizer, they arrived about half way through our dinner service but well worth the wait for sure, a few dozens of these would make a wonder meal by itself - everything was delicious and the prices are a very good value - a shout out again to our server Cindy she was exceptional. If you're in the area and want some fresh seafood and the freshest oysters this is definitely the place to come. The area is still recovering from the last hurricane which devastated the area but it seems all is well here...

That's the size of a football field and I would run through the Tampa Bay lineman in order to get to this restaurant. Parking? Ample. Walking through the door it's like walking through your old aunt's house where your mom told you not to touch anything and she had plastic covering on the couches. You knew you were going to get slapped at some point, but the food was gonna be fire. And the sliced smoked turkey sandwich I had on garlic bread did exactly that. It slapped me right where I like to be slapped. It was like the first time I heard "In Da Club" by 50 Cent. I knew I'd be humming the sweet tune of this samwich for decades. Was the dining area open? Absolutely not. Did the beautiful young lady who waited on us at the cash register let us sit down and eat anyway because she knew we were weary travelers and we were tired? Abbso-effing-lutely. "You should try the wings" this angel told me. "You should say that softer and slower into my ear so the hairs on my arm stand up" I replied. And boy oh boy did these people honor that flightless bird by turning its wings into a culinary masterpiece. Coleslaw. Slapped. French fries. Slapped. Sliced beef sammich. Slapped doesn't fully encapsulate the taste. It was like that first slow dance with a girl in 8th grade where the chaperone told you to leave room for the Holy Spirit. The service was so exceptional and we were treated with so much love that I would be shocked if we don't exchange Christmas cards this holiday season. I will be back time and time again. Oh and theres a review below from Cynthia N. She doesn't know a hush puppy from an actual puppy. Disregard her trash review.

Someone told me about Goodman's BBQ and let me tell you what. I have never had better barbecue in my life, the beef and I'm a beef person and it's hard to do beef on barbecue right? It was had a medium rare. It was succulent. It was juicy. It was the best stuff you ever put in your mouth. The pork was the same way succulent and juicy. The chicken was flavorful and everything was just delicious. We can't brag enough. We went through and unfortunately they do not have a dining situation. You do have to drive through. We went to this little Park. The girl suggested we sat and ate and we went back and bought 2 lb of the pork and the beef to bring home with us. That's how delicious it was if you're driving through Perry, Florida. If you're going anywhere near that area, make the drive-thru for Perry's BBQ please. It's privately owned and operated. It's an old building. There's no sign out because of the hurricane, but you will never have a better finger licking lip smacking barbecue in your life. Sweet potatoes were good, beans were good, garlic bread was good. Everything was good but the meats were just phenomenal and as a chef I don't say that lightly cuz I am really funny about barbecue cuz everybody wants to make it too heavy on the smoke and with the bad stomach I just can't stand it. Y'all tried Goodman's. Please don't pass it up if you're in Perry's

Entering it kind of reminds you of a farmhouse, I guess. Pretty standard furnishings and decoration for a country diner sort of place. Of course, we were there for breakfast, so the standard diner breakfast was on the menu. The full menu consists of burgers, sandwiches, and a couple of barbecue dishes. If there were more screens mounted on the walls I would call it a sportsbar, but that isn't the case. Our orders were taken, and I had gone for eggs, hashbrowns, and corned beef because it was St Patty's Day. Realistically one of the few times that I have legitimately had food that was appropriate for the holiday. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time for a group of ten, so the kitchen and staff knew what they were doing. The food was fine... nothing to really shout out about, but also not bad. It was what I expected it to be, and that was good enough.

1906 Farmhouse 25405 W Newberry Rd, Newberry, FL 32669…read more ***SWILL ALERT*** Pulling up to the hitchin' post at the 1906 Farmhouse, all seemed well and fine. I don't mind themed restaurants (they can be fun). This place was designed to model the Farmhouse where the ranch hands gathered for meals before and after a long day of riding. I dug it. It gave off a warm, welcoming, one-of-the-family vibe. Kasey was my server for the meal and she was frowning before I asked one question. I placed an order for one Country Fried Steak with sides of Collard Greens and Mac & Cheese, along with some Strawberry Shortcake to round out the meal. I soon saw Cantankerous Kasey begrudgingly returning with my victuals. I don't understand this attitude. Am I supposed to be grateful she deigned to work here? Anyway, if any of you are curious like me, you may have often wondered what it was like to spend a day in jail. To that end, I admit, I got myself hauled off to the County Hoosegow. Wanting to make the most out of my tax dollars, I booked my stay to include lunch. The dry bologna sandwich you receive, along with the juice bag to wash it down, is something you try to forget. As I looked at the slop my trustee, Kasey, placed before me, I began to long for the county jail government issue bologna. The Country Fried Steak was fresh from the freezer and cooked with the precision of Stevie Wonder passing his behind-the-wheel driving test. I've been hit with hockey pucks softer than this garbage. The gravy was made in the Sysco factory and this had to be their bottom-grade slush. It was as tasty as flour and water. Wait. The sides were a step down from the entree, if that is possible. Just look at the pictures and tell me, does anything look appetizing? While I am not one to ever judge a book by its cover, as looks can be deceiving. In this case, they are not, and the adage 'a picture speaks a thousand words' is spot on. The Collard Greens were obviously from an industrial can. Hey, don't get me wrong, all restaurants use a food service, but you don't have to be cheap about it and try to finagle the dining population by using the lowest quality they have to offer. The Mac & Cheese looked more like something a dog regurgitated than actual food. It was dry and pasty on the palate--just the way it is not supposed to be. The Strawberry Shortcake is also food service, not unlike the stuff you got in high school, only worse. Kudos, 1906 Farmhouse, you officially serve Swill sans the fly. At least on this visit. The Big Boy says, "I wouldn't serve this SWILL to a dead dog."
