New to San Angelo and we were looking for a bar to hangout at. This place is not too bad, but the servers are awful. We waited about 30 minutes for the server to even come to us when the place was dead. When we finally got our drinks, the cups smelt like dirty dishwasher. Then we were cut off after one drink because the server thought we had reached our limit when we hadn't even drank prior. It seems like they only serve you here if they know you. Looks pretty scary from the parking lot! Coming in wearily, thinking another dingy small town bar but NO!! The patio is an oasis!! Our bartender was quick to greet us. This bar was recommended to us by a local and we were excited to go as we don't get to get out much. Our first impression was very small parking lot but potentially a lot of fun. We came in and played pool all night and met some nice people. We had a good time with those people. We thought the bar was cool. It seemed to have a little bit of everything for everyone. Though at first I thought they only had one bathroom for women with one stall. Thankfully they have another one outside with a few more stalls. We ordered our drinks and ordered the same drinks every time but my drink was hardly ever the same drink I had been ordering. When I told the waitresses when it was wrong, they fixed it the first time but not without looking and talking to be like I was being ridiculous. The next few times they swore up and down it was still the same drink even though I know the difference in taste and tried to tell them. I knew because one had more sprite in it than the other and was sweeter and I don't care for it to be that sweet. I was never rude to them about it and stopped trying to tell them it was wrong after a time. They took a long time to come around and wait on us yet others around us seemed to be being taken care of faster.Being served shots after shots. We ordered two rounds of shots the whole time we were there and were there most of the night. For some reason we started with one waitress and ended up with another and they both acted the same way about my drink. They eventually said we were cut off and showing "signs of intoxication". I think they just didn't want to wait on us anymore because I expected them to bring me the correct drink I ordered. I was not too intoxicated to not give them a tip or to decide to never come there again for being treated like crap while spending close to 250 between drinks for two people and pool and music. When I got the bill it was proof they at least charged me for the type of drink I didn't order and charged us for more drinks than we ordered in the first place. They had it showing I alone had ordered 16 drinks 8 of the kind I was asking for and 8 of the kind I wasn't. This is not accurate at all as if I had consumed that many I would have been surely been intoxicated as they claim. I wouldn't have been able to walk out the door and I assure you I remember the night and was very coherent leaving the bar. My husband a little less. I did not though, they didn't even wait on us that often for that to even be possible. We will never go again. I want to note that I believe in cutting people off appropriately. I wouldn't blame them if I felt like I was actually showing signs but I really feel like they were bad waitresses who couldn't handle keeping up with their job/ orders or maybe they needed more help but either way don't take it out on your customers. We have been to many bars in our time and never been treated so bad or had such poor service. Hoping this review will be helpful to whoever owns the place. Hoping their are better bars in the area for an occasional date. :/ I would have found a manager or something about our bill but by that point I felt it was pointless since the waitresses attitudes were so ugly and it was close to closing. I love going to fiddlestrings. Its one of the largest, cleanest, nicest bars in town. The wait staff are all so sweet. The pool is awesome. They have waitresses and 2 bars for serving drinks. A+. read more

Such an eclectic crowd. Not sure what I was expecting. I was born and raised in Angelo, but have lived in Austin for the past 18 years now. My parents still live in town, so I often visit. This is definitely not the same bar that it once was. The inside is kind of a small space and the bar is in a hard location in retrospect to the door. Makes it a little hard to enter. The bartenders were friendly and moved quickly and efficiently. There is an indoor bar and an outdoor bar which is convenient. Outside there is giant beer pong, a pool with a volleyball net, washer pits, and probably others that I missed. Lots of seating and areas outside which is great. The waitresses were pretty good about coming around often. Overall not a horrible experience. (PS...the crowd is a little on the young side) read more

This is my second time attending this bar. This time I brought my boyfriend and my dog. We were greeted at the door kindly . They graciously change the TV channel to allow us watch our hockey game on our own screen. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Bad! Service is horrible, seems to be that if you aren't an attractive girl with big cleavage you don't really matter. Just not worth it. The female daytime bartender rocked! We sat outside and she was on the ball. We never waited for a drink. Would have gotten 4/5 stars had it not been for the evening/night waitresses. They are WAY understaffed and also VERY slow. I would constantly wait 20-30 minutes for a drink. So I would have to go inside to the bar (to get our table drinks). Maybe this is ok for San Angelo, but not acceptable anywhere else I've ever lived. When I spend 75-125$ on drinks I expect more. I've come here a handful of times because my best friend loves this place. I honestly can't see why. I'm big on the attitude of the servers, and these folks seem to have a stuck up attitude every time. I'm pretty sure you get faster service if you show up dressed up with big Texas hair, lots of makeup & a purse with rhinestones. I'm a jeans & converse kinda gal. Even on a slow night I felt like we were being ignored as we tried to get the attention of the bartender for more drinks. Service is slow, drinks are overpriced for how weak they are. I like San Angelo bars. No I think I love San Angelo bars. Fiddlestrings has that "it" factor about it. Everyone is different. The drinks are cheap. There's a huge outside patio area with a pool...yes I said with a pool and bar outside! Washer and BBQ pits included. It's just one of those places where you fit in as you walk in. Maybe that's because everyone from age 21 to 41 goes to Fiddlestrings. They have drink specials every weekday night but no worries, you're tab won't be much. I have seen a few live bands here which can make it loud, but it's a sports bar, not one of those sophisticated places where it's a sin to be loud. Don't be surprised if you see a wedding party here either. I've seen several and if that doesn't make it a cool place, I don't what does. read more
