My accounts were FROZEN by a Risk Assessment; they made an error and blocked me in the middle of making a transaction. No FRAUD. I can put $ into my accounts but I may not withdraw any $, buy CDs or use my HSA account. No one will talk to me other than to tell me that they are "working on it". The have messed up my entire account. The workers seem very inexperienced, say the dumbest things and are no help. I finally just hung up, it's been 2 weeks at least. I don't know what to do as my company uses them for 401k & hsa. read more

Michael was there when we arrived and our advisor was running over half hour late. He did not listen to the timeline of a 401 rollover nor ascertain that my son was too young to have a credit rating. After much fumbling about with the computer he finally understood we needed a paper application. He then provided an inaccurate email address and advised me to send my son's social security card scan to a gmail account, which fortunately bounced back. Unprofessional and inept. I will compliment David, the manager for his follow up in trying to resolve the situation. Fidelity is a joke for youth accounts (and probably regular accounts). Will never hold my investments here. Nothing against this particular branch or employees at this location. Just in general - they hold electronic transfers from banks for 10 business days. It's 2025!!! I used to work at a bank and we wouldn't even hold it this long for checks!! Heard of check21??? These are electronic transfers!! Ten business days for electronic transfers with the type of technology out there- that's ludicrous!! read more

Deposited my state payroll check and they placed a 30 day hold on it. I initially called the "Lack of Customer Service" phone number and was told that I need to call back on Monday and they can help me sort it out. Come Monday I called and this time I was told that it is an error made by their Sacramento branch and only they can help fix it. That the state warrant was incorrectly coded as checks rather than state warrant. Per the rep, I will have to call back in 30 minutes so he can call the branch to have it sorted out. So like a naive person, I called back and the rep I got this time around, placed me on hold while the called the branch. 40 minutes later we were still on hold. He suggested that I take time to drive to the branch and he promised he will place notes on the account so the folks at the branch has direction on how to fix the error. Reluctantly I went to the branch and waited for over 30 minutes, before I was told (when I ambushed a staff who was out and about) that it will be another 15 minutes before it is done. Long story short, he came out and explained that they are not a bank etc.and therefore that is the only way they can deposit a state warrant and hence there is nothing he can do for me. I was livid because by now I have wasted 4 hours of my life that I can never get back. On my drive home, I called and tried to file a complaint, the rep was nice and took all my information etc. and said he will file it on my behalf. He called me back about 40 minutes later to apology, stating that since Fidelity has gone through so much fraud lately this is their recourse. To hold ALL DEPOSITS for 30 days. 1) Why was I not told that at time of deposit? I asked before handing the warrants to them and was told there will be no hold. If I was given the correct information I would have deposited it into my account at Schwab instead. 2) Why was I sent on a bloody goose chase? From the long wait on the phone to the drive down to the branch IF it is the policy to place hold on every check deposit? 3) Final insult - They are not able to file a customer complain. I need to actually write it, and physically mail it in. THIS IS THE WORST place to do business. I am done with them, once the hold is released I will never do business with FIDELITY INVESTMENT EVER AGAIN. For anyone reading this, and thinking of using them, my only advice is RUN!!! My husband wanted to consolidate his IRA accounts so made an appointment with a representative at the Sacramento Fidelity office. He was apprehensive about going because he was afraid he would get a hard sell on opening a managed (fee based) account. The representative listened to his concerns, explained all the options clearly, answered both of our questions fully and made recommendations that fit my husband's comfort level. The Fidelity office building is on busy Fair Oaks Blvd but off on the little frontage road paralleling Fair Oaks. There is plenty of parking on the east side of the building. The waiting area was comfortable. There is a water cooler, Keurig machine with coffee and tea pods, and canned sodas to drink while waiting. There were also interesting coffee table books in addition to magazines and newspapers to read while waiting. Now that I've been there and seen how my husband was treated, I should make an appointment for myself and consolidate my IRA and 401k. read more

BEWARE!! Fidelity Investments sent the inheritance claim paperwork to some random person in a different state although they had our correct information when my mother--law died way back in 2008. We never knew there were 2 accounts. Fidelity never contacted us at anytime. When we spoke to the Executor of my mother-in-laws last month, we learned that Fidelity Investments had paid the other siblings back in 2008. Ever since then, we've been trying without success to resolve this problem with Fidelity. First they said they couldn't find any accounts. Then they sent the inheritance paperwork to some unknown person in another state. Then they said the account was empty. Then they said they wouldn't tell us if this stranger was paid. My time with Fidelity is fast approaching 10 years. I converted my 401(k) accounts (from two previous employers) into a Rollover IRA a few years ago. This is my first and only yelp for this branch. The people here are really as good as it gets. Today, late this afternoon, I came in to ask some questions about opening a brokerage account, not because I don't like my other current firm but because I'd like to consolidate. As a general rule, I don't wait in line to see a customer representative at the counter. I walk in, grab a cup of Keurig-brewed dark roast, and then I plant myself in one of the comfy chairs. A few sips later, someone is bound to ask me if I've been helped. Today the friendly and knowledgeable young man, who fielded my questions, was 'Chris'. Navy suit, big smile, and reassuring answers. Worst experience ever. When Covid hit, it was like the wizard of oz. at their Palm Desert Location. Enter, table blocking entry to lobby with a box and iPad to great you. I FaceTimed to an iPad , told to just leave forms and check in a box. Did so and requested a written confirmation with paper or email on what I deposited in box was received. They refused. Later when reconciling my account, learned the paperwork ( form) and check were never posted to account. Called customer service several months later, they could not find it, but after digging abit- found it. Lost check, paperwork was out dated so needed to be re- submitted via mail. Ugh! Went to deliver it again: Location in Palm Desert was closed permanently, as a customer we were never notified. Found out by going to this location and finding a closed sign on the door. Very disappointed in the customer service and lack of follow up. Moving on! read more

I received good customer service from Jeb and Darryl to complete a transaction with a Fidelity Business Partner. Darryl directed me to do some leg work over the phone which helped a lot before I came into the branch. I got precise instructions from the correct department over the phone which Jeb was able to follow. The transaction only took about 15 minutes and did not require a notary because of the handy branch customer verification process. read more

I've been with them for years, during their popular days, but they must have been acquired because their service has deteriorate markedly. Their new platform is horribly un-user-friendly, their system is not updating, and people in the local offices seem unable to get account information on their system. I have been trying to rollover a 403b to a regular brokerage account since last October. Many calls, emails, and stabs at the website later, I visited the office 2 months ago and was told it was done. However, I've since received 2 emails telling me it hasn't been done.
