I hate going to the dentist. I've had so many issues all my life. Providers not listening, providers being too rough. No one offering pain relief even when available. I honestly avoid going to the dentist probably to an unhealthy for my teeth point. But these guys still don't judge me. Just except me back with open arms and top notch care. They are kind and compassionate. They listen to the little things and make adjustments. The entire office exudes a positive happy work place environment. You can hear laughter down halls. The level of care at Fidler is out of this world. I went, cautiously, after avoiding dental care for about a decade. My only experiences before that were fairly traumatic and caused a very high level of anxiety that prevented me from seeking the care that my teeth were demanding. From the moment I emailed them with my timid inquiry until last week when I had my second deep cleaning appointment, the entire staff has been actively engaged in making this an emotionally and physically painless process. My hygienist, Ally, was beyond patient with my questions. She explained every step of her work and routinely checked on my comfort levels. I mentioned during my first appointment that ONE of the numbing shots was painful (maybe 3/10 pain at most). Well, the next time I came in she mentioned that one painful shot and said she had learned a new technique that should prevent it from hurting- and it didn't! An entire round of numbing shots and not one pinch of pain. The fact that she not only remembered my feedback but she actively sought out new information for the benefit of her patient(s) made me feel overwhelmed with gratitude. The staff at Fidler truly respect their patients. They relate to us as humans, and have a full grasp of the scope of human emotions and fears and because of that they can cope with them properly and work around them. If you are where I was a couple of months ago - knowing you NEED dental care but for whatever reason are too anxious or fearful or worried to act on it - please, please reach out to Fidler not the Tooth. Even offering me blankets and pillows, and propping up my overhead-lamp sunglasses to make room for my eyelashes! After 9 years of going to this dental practice, I was treated so poorly I had to leave and write a review. Honestly, they are not aware of how their fast pace and brusque, blunt language impact people. For anyone with challenging dental health situations, be aware that they assume you are not trying. When I asked for additional information to help me understand my overall situation from Dr. Fidler, not the hygienist, it turned into a very uncomfortable experience that was not treated with empathy or kindness. Brittany is still the best. I HATE going to the dentist, as most people do, but she is so pleasant that it becomes a positive experience. She is comforting, sensitive and so sweet. Mostly nice people, but worst run dental office. I had an appointment for a cleaning at 2 pm 9/27 and arrived at 2 pm. I was a new patient so I did have new patient paperwork to fill out that they had emailed to me around 9 the same morning of my appointment. I don't work from home nor in an office job so I can't do paperwork for other things while I'm working. because of this I hadn't done the paperwork before hand. I will take responsibility that coming in 10 minutes early would have been helpful as a new patient, but the paperwork wasn't super extensive and maybe me took me 5 minutes to fill out on a paper form (which I had asked for rather than a tablet to speed things along). The receptionist took this opportunity to tell me a couple times that now the appointment would be starting late because I hadn't filled out the paperwork before hand... that they sent me the morning of. I don't recall exactly what time I was taken back, but I wasn't in the waiting area super long so maybe 2:15 pm?? For the next 75 MINUTES the dental hygenist went through my medical history, took x-rays, took photos of my teeth and I was seen by the dentist. The assistant had told the hygenist over an ear-piece that I was ready for my cleaning earlier on in that 75 minutes but the dentist had shown up first. During those 75 minutes the dentist talked with me extensively about the photos and x-rays, but at this time he never mentioned that this exam portion might *impede* my ability to get a cleaning done that day, which was literally the only reason I came in for the appointment... By the time the hygenist was ready (at 3:30 pm) the assistant informed me that they would only have time to measure my gums that day, and I would have to be rescheduled and COME BACK for my actual cleaning. To say this was upsetting was an understatement. I had had a delay in getting into the dentist at all first due to covid. I then booked my original appointment in March or April of 2021 for July (their first available). I then had to reschedule that appointment due to a job interview for which the first available was end of September. When they told me I would have to come back for a cleaning there was no effort to work me in due to the added inconvenience nor any apology for the hygenist not being ready when she was first called to my room. They offered me their next available time for three months out on the week when I have an international trip planned... The dentist then tried to deescalate the situation and again mentioned that I was "late for my appointment." I corrected him stating factually that I was at the office at 2. He then asked if I was filling out paperwork when I arrived (still trying to put the blame on me for the office's lack of upfront-communication and time management.) I told him that I was, but it probably only took me five minutes to do so, that I had only received the paperwork they sent beforehand that morning and thus didn't think it unreasonable to expect to still be seen for a cleaning when I had in fact arrived on time. He said that they usually send out the paperwork "weeks before" but I went to my email after leaving the building and found no record of this, just the day of email. So I spent an hour and a half in the office doing nothing but x-rays, photos and a dental consult and then was told I'd have to book another 3 months out to get my teeth cleaned because the hygenist wouldn't start the cleaning if she "didn't have enough time." The staff backhandedly blamed me for this outcome at every possible juncture because of not having the paperwork done, when the reality was I had been at the office on time and I hadn't been sent the paperwork before my appointment until the very morning of. I will say in spite of this that staff that I met were all very "nice" but just had no sense of customer service when it really shouldn't have taken the office 90 minutes to prep me for my cleaning appointment. read more

I hadn't been to the dentist in a very long time because of fear and anxiety. I finally sucked it up after Fidler on the Tooth came highly recommended. The first appointment was the exam and x-rays and I saw Vince and Dr. Wang. They were both incredibly kind, communicative, and listened. They also actually read my paperwork, and explained everything that they were going to do and what to expect. While the news of needing 5 fillings wasn't the best, I am feeling much more at ease after my initial visit. Today I had my cleaning with Brittany and she was AMAZING. She was kind, compassionate, and did a great job. She explained each step, why it was needed, and regularly paused to check in on me. As a queer person finding a place where I can feel comfortable and respected and affirmed can be a challenge especially when it comes to medical things. The team at Fiddler on the tooth, has continued to make me feel welcomed, valued and cared for as a patient. Teaching me proper brushing techniques and celebrating when my gums stop bleeding, and laughing with me during nervous fits of laughter with a needle half way in my gums.
