Wonderful coffee combinations. I got the Grey Skies and it was extremely tasty. The food was very good, too. I got the green chile mac-n-cheese. It was such a good twist on the classic. Reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5--the line-to-order setup is atrocious. The line-to-order wraps around the counter and extends to the back of the restaurant where the bathrooms are. It was so busy on our visit that the line wrapped around, extended into the back, and then snaked back around and outside the doors. So it was extremely crowded in a tiny hallway and a bit confusing. I am a regular customer at Fido and while I enjoy the food and the atmosphere, I will say that the customer service has been substandard. While I'm not one to write negative reviews, I feel that today it is warranted due to the service three friends and I received at breakfast. Often good customer service is lacking from an employee because they might be having an off day or maybe another customer was treating them badly. However, today we had a problem with not just one employee, but two. Let me explain... We were first rudely told by the lady behind the counter that requesting an itemized receipt of our bill was an annoyance. This was something we could brush off the shoulder. Later, as we were waiting for our food another waitress yelled at us about moving our buzzer to the other side of the table and when we kindly replied that it wouldn't fit because there was another buzzer in its place, she walked off dismissively. No big deal, she's probably had a bad morning. Next, we receive our meals and notice that our bagel sandwiches are not toasted as they were described on the menu. Normally, I wouldn't complain but this morning I was tired and craving a hot toasted bagel. So I kindly walked up to the server who had taken our orders earlier and asked if there was any possible way I could get my bagel toasted. She replied with "You mean re-toasted?" and I calmly explained that it was not toasted and maybe the kitchen just made a mistake. After telling her this, you would think she would maybe apologize and see what the kitchen could do. However, she looked at me with a sour look and said, "Well if I take it back you know I'm just going to have to get you a whole new bagel?" and I said that was fine. She proceeded to roll her eyes and said that it would be a long wait if I wanted a whole new bagel. I again told her it was fine and I was happy to wait. She was obviously not happy about this. Finally I get my bagel back (which was actually brought by another really sweet waitress who actually had commendable customer service) and at the point I'm just happy to have some food. Meanwhile, my sister has asked for her coffee three times and then when it is finally brought out, the waitress told us that it had been sitting up on the counter for a while (what?!). In conclusion, our experience this morning at Fido was honestly an experience that we wished we never had. It put a bad taste in our mouthes that we hope to never taste again. read more

100% not worth it. 2 hours for average food, an hour of which was standing in a long, boring, crowded line. We got the supposedly "worth the wait" sweet potato french toast which was a glorified sweet potato version of banana bread with whipped cream and syrup, and guess what? Not worth it. We also got the cubano eggs, which were nothing special, and a chai. Even the chai took 20 minutes to get to the table after we had sat down. This is one of the coolest places in Nashville. the location used to be a pet store, hence the name and names of some menu items. They have fabulouscoffee and delicious food. Lived in Nashville my whole life and I have to say this is one of my favorite restaurants. I usually get the meat and three with andouille. Amazing. Great experience. The line was a little long on Saturday morning, but it moved quickly. The food was great - we had the huevos cubano and the sweet potato french toast. The huevos cubano was wondefully seasoned, and the french toast tasted like a dessert. The coffee options were also varied and delicious. Great coffee and food. I had a yogurt parfait which had a yummy granola and fresh fruit. We also had a breakfast bagel sandwhich which was amazing. Chai latte and regular latte were great as well. Fido - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Nashville, Tennessee

This post has nothing to do with the food and all about the service and pet friendly advertising. 1. They provide absolutely no service out side the building. 2. They provide absolutely no service for your pet (water, treats, pet friendly servers). If you're going to advertise you're a pet friendly place, just putting tables outside that you can sit at with your pet DOES NOT COUNT. They don't provide wait service outside, you can't even get a menu. If you bring your pet with you and don't have someone to hold them, you can't even order food. They won't give you a menu or let you order food unless you come into the building and they don't allow pet in the building. I went with 3 other people that had dogs and we all left because we couldn't get service outside. How the hell do you call yourself pet friendly and have absolutely nothing pet friendly about you. Not only will I never visit this place again, I will tell anyone that will listen to avoid it (pet or no pet) at all cost. I would highly recommend going across the street to Double Dogs of Nashville. Not only do they like you having your pets with you, we got served, ate and left before people at Fido that sat down after we had already left. If I could give this place a ZERO star I would. read more

My friend and I got coffee drinks (the bulldog and a vanilla iced latte) and the iced latte was the best we've ever had! The bulldog (coffee with espresso) was very bitter and tasted like it was burnt - not a fan. Ended up throwing it away a few minutes later. i have an admission to make, yelp. i really like this place. and that's coming from a man that hated this place for precisely zero reason... without ever visiting. every time i've been here, i've been pleasantly surprised. every food item i've ordered has been so very, very good. the last time i was here, i got some pancakes. i asked for banana nut, but got the buttermilk ones instead. it was completely ok. you know why, yelp? because the mother fuckers were GOOD. it's killing me thinking of how good they were because they were outstanding. i'd say they were made with cream of wheat, and i rather recall seeing that on the menu. that order of pancakes gives you the option of either doubling the stack (for a total of four dreamcakes. wait, i meant pancakes!) or opting for a side. i was mega hungry (long night previous to this morning, if you must), so i decided to get the double stack and get an order of andouille sausage on the side. it was slicked legthwise, grilled, and delicious. my friend had some sort of eggs benedict that he was well into. we met up with some more friends, he had a salmon bagel that he says he's fully in love with, though i don't remember what his boo had. the time before, i got a steak sandwich that was nothing short of divine. that was my second time eating here, with the local burger being my introduction. that local burger has been haunting me ever since. it was locally sourced beef (go figure), and absolutely incredible. it ranks high on my list of burgers in nashville, tenenssee. and if you pay attention to my reviews, you know i value a good burger more than most. i usually ask what's on a burger before i order it, but i don't even worry about it here. they don't come with tomatoes, which is normally a sacrilege in my world. but i honestly don't even care to modify it. ok, i'm going to leave you all now, as i have a local burger with sweet potato fries directly to my right. yes, that means i'm typing this review at fido. and on a mac. what the hell has become of my life?? eric b read more

I LOVE this place. If you're looking for a place to meet up with friends over a cup of coffee, hang out and do work, or eat delicious (organic, local, or vegan) food, then this is probably the place you should be. In addition to having all of the specialty drinks expected of a coffee shop, they also have some of the best cake in the city, a trendy hipster vibe, and free wi-fi. After picking something delicious off of their menu (I HIGHLY recommend 'the Fideau,' the 'Local Burger,' the sweet potato fries, or any of their breakfast items or specials menu items), you'll order from their very friendly staff, receive an adorable card picturing adoptable dogs, and have a seat in one of their three connected rooms. Your food will be out to you very quickly. Some flavors on the menu may not sound like they go together (Strawberry Balsamic cake, anyone?), but I promise, they will all be so delicious that you'll wish you'd thought of it yourself. read more

Fido has been located in Hillsboro Village since the mid-1990's which was the start of the coffee house boom in Nashville. It is located in the old Jones Pet Shop building for all you people who were here a very long time ago. The name "Fido" is a reference to that history. Fido is a great place to visit if you want a good drink, good but somewhat pricey meal, or just want to hang out with friends or by yourself. I have done all four things. The decor is very nice and interesting with lots of tips of the hat to Jones Pet Store. When you order a meal, they give you a photo of a particular dog to help specify your order from other customers. Fido is mostly a place to hang out for Vandy and Belmont students as well as academic-types. The drinks have always been great. I particularly love their chai. It is absolutely delicious and I have ordered it ever since I ordered it there the very first time. The food is really good too. I have enjoyed their Steak and Hash dish and tried their famous Local Burger which are both delicious. Fido serves food for every meal of the day. It can be a bit noisy in Fido but I have never had a problem losing myself in a good book. If you enjoy people-watching, then Fido is a great place for that too. There is a constant stream of people walking up and down the sidewalk outside as well as coming in and out of the shop. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful and do a good job of keeping customers flowing down the line which can get pretty long at certain times of the day. If you are interested in a cool place to hang out and have a good drink and food, then Fido is certainly a great pick for you. read more

I recently ordered dinner for my boyfriend and I via the app. My boyfriend went to pick up our order and we assumed everything was right since he saw an employee checking the order with receipt in hand. When he got our dinner all the way home, we realized that they had many errors on our order. Our order was missing almost $10 worth of extras and sides. Not wanting to go back, I emailed Fido and asked for credit for future visits. The director of business development emailed me back and apologized and also asked for details regarding my visit to help out with a credit. I responded back to his email and didn't hear back from him. A week later, I forwarded him my order confirmation and reiterated what we were missing from our order. That was two weeks ago and I still haven't heard back. While the food at Fido is pretty good, there are many other places I can go that have better burgers and probably less of a headache. Every city has their meeting places--those modern-day watering holes that everyone gathers in. Fido is one of Nashville's. Fido, not Fido's although everyone I know (including myself) perpetually adds an "s" because it's just easier to pronounce, encapsulates Nashvillian (or is it Nashvillite?) culture. You will find anyone and everyone here. Heck, you might even run into Taylor Swift here (who, by the way, my friend did meet at Fido, and Swift even complimented her on her hair). You'll find the artists, the musicians, the eccentric, the young couples with their cute toddlers and infants, the Vanderbilt professors on their break, the businessmen and women of Nashville, the lazy college students, the over-40 women that still think they're in their prime, and on most days, me. When I go to Fido and I don't run into someone I know or at least recognize someone, I feel the need to meet new people because I almost always recognize someone. I really don't think you could call yourself a true Nashvillian if you've never stepped foot in Fido. And if you're just passing through Nashville, it's definitely worth a visit to get a feel for the city. Fido has a great atmosphere--chill, comfortable, and spacious. There are three different rooms with seating ranging from large tables, booths, bar stool seats. Each room tends to have its own personality as well. Hours are fantastic as well: it's a great place for an early breakfast or late-night studying. On off-hours, the farthest room tends to be quieter and a perfect place for studying. During busy hours (especially around lunch), it can get pretty crowded, however, and sometimes that can mean the line extending out the door or fighting someone else for a good table. But, if you go any other time than lunch time, you'll definitely find a good seat. My only other qualm with the atmosphere is the wifi. Although it is free, I think it only extends to the first two rooms because I always struggle to pick it up when I am in the farthest room. Now, to the food and drinks. The food is great. I personally like their panini sandwiches--and who can go wrong with soft melted brie on a toasted sandwich? The cakes are also pretty AMAZING. I would definitely recommend the Red Velvet Bombe--I don't know what they put in it, but it's like heaven in your mouth. Don't try to eat one alone though, it's too rich and delicious! The specialty drinks are great--a personal fav is the Milkbone: nice, sweet, and light. Great latte art, as well. However, as much as I enjoy their specialty espresso drinks, I am just not a fan of Bongo Java coffee. I rarely ever order their drip coffee. It's just too light and not very flavorful for my taste. They have a pretty wide selection of tea as well and I really enjoy their Chai Latte--the cinnamon is so fresh and delicious, and it pairs well with soy milk for those of us that are unfriendly with lactose. They also offer wine, which I have never tried but am personally intrigued by the fact that they offer wine as well. In my mind, despite not winning my approval for coffee, Bongo Java succeeds in creating welcoming and defining atmospheres. I don't go to Fido because it has the best food or dessert or drinks on the planet (although, they are pretty good and worth it). I go for the atmosphere. And Fido really is one of those places where the community and culture of Nashville flourishes. read more

This place really rubs me the wrong way. I actually can't stand it, and keep promising myself I won't return. (The only reason I have in the past is because I was in a group of friends that wanted to go, and I wasn't going to be a bitch about it.) Where do I start? The staff always acts too cool and busy to be friendly with you. (Except for ONE time) The crowd is too trendy-socialite...and I know, it's part of the area. If that were the only down-side, I wouldn't complain, but it's one of MANY. It's said to be the perfect place to go and sit for hours to visit, read, study, etc. But for one thing, it's usually too noisy to study, and there isn't one seat in the house that I would want to sit in for longer than 30-45 minutes. And then there's the coffee and desserts. I am addicted to hot chai, if a place has good chai, I will go back. I hate their chai. I don't know what they do to it, but it's the worst chai I've ever had. The same goes for any of the coffee drinks I've gotten there. I subbed soy milk in my coffee one time, took one drink, and threw the whole thing away. (see my review on Sam & Zoe's for good soy milk, and everything else) I tried my boyfriend's hot chocolate, same reaction. I'd heard others rave about their vegetarian and vegan friendly menu, and thought I'd give the food a try. The time I tried to order food, they were either out of everything, or didn't have something I could eat. The cakes I've tried tasted store bought, and the cookies and muffins are dry, crumbly, and taste like they've been sitting there for days. One of the cookies I bought one time was so hard I could only eat half of it. This is sort of a side note, but at a recent event in Nashville, I happened to be in a group of people talking to someone, and one person in the group kept cutting me off. Anytime I would mention something, this guy would cut me off, and proceed to talk about HIS idea, place, etc. I mentioned at one point that if you wanted to go get some quick, good, healthy, affordable food, go to sam & zoe's. This guy cut me off again, was very rude, acted like I was completely wrong and said to this guy we were talking to 'oh, that's just a little coffee shop! you should go to fido, they're a major distributor of ours, AND they have good food.' Then it sort of came up that he was apparently (according to him, though he never specified) some VERY important head person of bongo java. That did it for me. To me, there is no comparison between the two coffee shops. They are complete opposites, Fido on the negative end IMHO. Maybe the last part of my review should be somewhere else, or for Bongo Java, or a complaint letter, but when someone goes around acting like that, like they're ALL that, it completely ruins a company name to me. And to top it all off, I think Fido is overpriced. Especially based on the quality of everything I've ever tried. Fido is a cute place in Hillsboro Village. It has a good vibe but the service SUCKS!!!!!!! I simply wanted a grilled cheese and tomato soup but the cashier refused to give it to me because I am above the age of 12. I am 16. He proceeded to tell me that they do not make as much money when they sell kids items to people over 12. Well, they didn't make any money. I walked over to The Grilled Cheeserie down the street who has better service AND better food. I will not recommend Fido to anyone. read more

We went here on a recommendation and the space was nice and the menu had some good looking options. We ordered two salads, and the liberal salad was pretty good with a nice mix of pecans and strawberries. However, the fatoush salad didn't come with the feta cheese, red onions or the parsley as advertised in the menu. It was just a pile of lettuce with a few tomatoes and pita crumbles. When we asked about this, the counter person apologized and added a bit of feta. Almost as lame as the roasted sweet potato fries that were limp and room temperature.
