I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet! We love Sky Blue and often bring our out of town guests to experience their delicious menu. Anything from the burritos to classics we enjoy. Today we had the banana Nutella pancakes and Big Rube - thoroughly delicious. I will say, the service fluctuates and the servers appear extremely overworked and exhausted which makes me sad. Expect a lengthy wait for a table (60 minutes this morning and they quoted 40 minutes), but know you'll enjoy the quaint welcoming dinning space. read more

Sheesh. Sky Blue has been one of our East Nashville staples for years, but our most recent visit left us with a very poor taste in our mouths--not due to the food, food was fine, although probably spat in. We experienced a 45min wait which we were happy to go with as it is a small restaurant, and they usually do their best to accommodate as many people as they can. The difference this time than our previous visits is that we have had a baby since then. Clearly there was a miscommunication when checking in, as they were very demeaning when we asked for a high chair, naming that we claimed we didn't need one. I was not part of that conversation but it sounded like that was assumed rather than asked by the host/manager/dirty blonde white woman named Andie. When we asked for a high chair after being sat next to a table where the party was not taking up the whole table and there happened to be room for one, she proceeded to give us a lot of attitude saying that we said we didn't need one. We then asked our waiter (did not get his name, but he was kind and accommodating), he said he would try to get us some high chairs for the two babies in our party. We could overhear Andie saying to him, "they said they didn't need one but do whatever." Okay, not the nicest, but we were gonna let it slide. Then one of our party was scooting out of the booth after a group had left to go use the bathroom, and Andie walks over and says to her, "there's a party about to sit here." My friend says, "yeah, I'm just getting out to go to the restroom." She just assumed we were going to take up the whole table? Weird. Additionally, we were missing silverware, and when we asked another worker to bring us some, she came back and threw the silverware on the table knocking over bottles. And at the end, Andie had the audacity to ask us how everything was, and I responded that this was the worst service we'd ever received here, and her response was to look at the friend who signed up for a slot and said "sorry for the miscommunication but I was just going off of what he said". At the end of the day, we understood not having room for high chairs but it was all in the tone and attitude in which she responded that left us feeling like we were a burden to be there with our babies. We understand it's a small space, but had she just been kind to begin with, then things would have taken a much different turn. Needless to say, this is not a very family friendly restaurant so I urge young families to find somewhere else to eat. Hopefully management doesn't treat their employees as rudely as Andie treated customers, but I have a feeling that isn't the case. We won't be back. I've been coming to Sky Blue for at least a decade, and it always hits the spot! Expect a wait if you don't get there right when they open because it's very small inside with only a handful of tables. When you arrive, you'll check in with the hostess outside, who will add you to the waitlist, and they'll text you when your table is ready. There are a couple benches around and they also will serve you coffee and nonalcoholic drinks outside, which is great. We were told a 45 minute wait at 9:30 AM on a Sunday, but it ended up being closer to 30. I got em's biscuit bowl and subbed scrambled eggs with over easy and I was kept full for hours! I added this place to my running list of restaurants to try after I stumbled upon it via Google search. I really thought I would love it based off the Google reviews but I should've came to Yelp first lol The service and quaintness of the shop were nice however the food wasn't anything to write home about. It was like a step above a hotel breakfast. The potatoes didn't taste fresh at all and I love potatoes. It seemed like they had been sitting in a warmer or something in the back. Sky Blue is a very cute and compact Breakfast and Lunch place within the historic Edgefield. Unfortunately when we stopped in, we were only looking for coffee drinks and a chance to use the wash room. The folks here were very welcoming and helpful as we finished our orders at the counter. From that viewpoint, the dishes coming out of their kitchen looked really good. So did one of the rainbow t-shirt designs for sale. read more

Such a pleasant spot for breakfast in a very charming East Nashville neighborhood. Street parking is easy. Coffee is yummy. Had the hot chicken biscuit with fresh fruit. I enjoyed it although the sauce was a little more sweet than hot (not for the Nashville hot chicken purists) and the biscuit was a little dry and crumbly. Fruit was mostly berries and so fresh and wonderful. Service was attentive and friendly, welcoming. The dining room is charming and full of historic vibes and eclectic local art. read more

I came to Nashville for my daughters cheerleading competition and when I'm out of town I love to find new places to visit. Sky blue had high ratings on Yelp and they did not disappoint. I caught an Uber over and arrived at this small location that is in a neighborhood across from a school. At first I was a little skeptical but decided to dine anyway. The wait was about 15 minutes but once we got in everything took off. Our server was great and made a great selection with the French toast. I ordered the French toast, a side of home fries and some bacon. The BACON WAS GREAT!!! I really wish I had more that 2 pieces. The French Toast was AMAZING!!! I love the plate they use as it keeps the French toast warm. The French toast was so good I ordered another. Overall this is a great spot that is tucked away in the neighborhood. A local staple in East Nashville, but far off the beaten path, so many people don't realize it is here. You can find street parking not far. And there is almost always a line to get in (only 5 minutes for us this time). Service was on point, although I do see some reviews that say otherwise. I will note that it is a small crew working here, so if you are a Karen, this is not your place to grab breakfast. Place is quaint and has a small town feel to it. Menu has a lot of interesting items and I will definitely get back to try other items. High on my list is the Brie French Toast the guy next to us got. Coffee is excellent and I should have asked the source. Food is very good, although my mind was more interested in the southwest than my mouth was that day. I won't fault the cafe for this, as the food was great, just not what I had thought it would be like. The ATB my girlfriend had was superb. Would I return? Yes, and I already said that. I had a really good, quick breakfast at Sky Blue Cafe. It is a great neighborhood spot that has 10-12 tables inside and lots of small town charm. The first time I tried to go there, there was a large crowd out front waiting for tables - no waiting inside because there isn't enough room. I was very happy that I was able to get a table on my second attempt as it wasn't as crowded. I got a breakfast sandwich on a biscuit and a side of home fries. How much do I love finding a cool neighborhood eatery? It's the best! We were staying at the Russell Hotel and this cozy spot is right down the road! This place checked all the boxes, the ambiance is funky and quirky with fun flannel tablecloths, local art, even gnomes, owls, and kitties. The service was lightning fast, and our service was satisfactory albeit a tad taciturn. We didn't realize you were supposed to wait outside... and a slight comment was issued, but it's all good. A little odd, but hey, who am I to say. It's a very inclusive and welcoming space! And the food is outrageously delicious and priced to spare your wallet from overload! I had a classic breakfast of eggs, sausage, potatoes and rye toast. The rye toast tasted moldy and old so I didn't eat it. The tea was fabulous! A garden earl grey that I ended up purchasing some extra teabags! Hubby had a tower of breakfast favorites, with pancakes, French toast, eggs and bacon. He said the coffee was superb! I'm so glad that we've finally found a great brunch spot to enjoy and eat at! We're currently here on a visit to see Pearl Jam and have tried other breakfast spots but they weren't as good here. We walked in the door and didn't realize that you had to wait outside to check in but you know a place is going to be good when the inside is filled. So we waited around 15 minutes everyone was sweet and we sat down ordered our food immediately. My boyfriend got the syl breakfast ruben and it was so saucy and delicious super flavorful well made I kept taking a bit out of his. My friend got an omelette and hot honey chicken biscuit, the omelette was also flavored nicely paired well with the pico that was on top and super cheesy. I was hungry and it filled me up. I had the Em's bowl, nothing too exciting to report. It came with sausage gravy, potatoes, biscuits, eggs, and cheese. LOTS OF CHEESE. Taste was sort of bland, not much in the way of seasoning. Having waited 10-15 mins to be acknowledged at the stand and another 15 mins for a seat for one, I expected more. Quaint little brunch place in East Nashville. A bit on the small/cozy side, there's maybe 20 tables in the cafe so if you come at a busy time expect to wait for a bit. Got the salmon benny which was quite good (and also quite a lot of food so come hungry!) Their hot chocolate is better than most places (still not quite enough chocolate taste in my opinion but still decent). Definitely recommend the fresh squeezed orange juice though! My husband got the breakfast burrito and had asked for ham, which they forgot to include so they comped my hot chocolate drink instead. The food looked incredible so my family of 5 was excited to dig in. Unfortunately most of it wasn't as flavorful as we would have liked. We got the breakfast burrito with chili, 2 veggie omelets added bacon, yogurt parfait and kids pancake. The burrito was absolutely the best thing. The chili topping was incredible. The omelet left much to be desired, even though it was bursting with veggies, there was hardly and flavor and had to be loaded up with salt and pep. Same as the yogurt parfait, it was a beautiful presentation, but left flavor to be desired. The kids pancake was good and had no complaints. So take it or leave it. I ate the French toast (my go to over pancakes any day). The egg could've used some seasoning. It's quite a bit of food so it's definitely shareable. The breakfast burrito was pretty good. You can never really go wrong when ordering a burrito that includes everything, but this burrito lacked flavor for me. It needed a little something else to make it POP. Was there last week. Got a veggie breakfast bowl. Coffee was good. Food was pretty good, Until! About 8 hours later! Pretty confident this was the culprit as it was all I had to eat that day. Terrible food poisoning. Both me and my daughter were driving the porcelain bus! If you know what I mean. Was sick for 3 days. Not the weight loss program I was looking for, but effective! This is a small corner cafe in Nashville with very busy turnaround, yet relaxed dining environment. We came here around brunch time and waited for half an hour in line to get seated. It was worth the wait! We tried their salmon eggs Benedict, parfait and Tuscan 2.0 (tomato, fried eggs and cheese). Everything was delicious. All the other brunch places I've tried previously only provided you very think salmon pieces, but this place offered a big chunk of the fish! The Tuscan 2.0 was tasty as well. I had one of my best breakfasts here in Nashville. Blue Sky Cafe is small in size but mighty in strength. They accommodated a party of 6 without a problem. Service was excellent. Our waiter went above and beyond to serve us exactly what we wanted including modifications to the entrees. Many of the staff are artist in their own right. Some of their paintings can be seen on the walls of the cafe. My family was all happy when the food came. I enjoyed my southwest omelette with its savory chili, cheese, and sour cream. The components to this omelette all worked well together. The home fries had an exquisite mildly salted crunch to them. Fresh fruit and a moist buttery southern biscuit rounded out the entree. I was craving pancakes, so I ordered them and I wasn't disappointed. They were fluffy, rich, and tasted great! Everyone enjoyed their meal. I returned a few weeks later and placed a to-go order. I ate my food at the picnic table across the street. I had the recommended armadillo sandwich with a side of chili and more crispy potatoes. This veggie sandwich was amazingly filled with good fresh vegetables. The chili was mildly spicy, savory, and hearty, which provided for a very filling meal. Blue Sky Cafe is the place to go. Fortunately, it was a beautiful morning so we took a stroll around the cute neighborhood while we waited on our table. Once we got seated, we loved looking at the charming decor and noticed all the employees working looked happy and were helping each other out. Love to see that! I ordered drip coffee and the Space Captain omelet. Both were delicious and I'd gladly come back to have the same exact meal.
