Spicy shrimp fettuccine ($20) - do not recommend
    Mina H.

This place was pretty disappointing for me in terms of the food, but I've only been to eat here once, so it could have been an "off" day. They seemed to have a lot of regulars, so some people definitely love this restaurant. I would take my review with a grain of salt and try it yourself! One thing that made the dining experience good was Tracy, the waitress. She was fantastic! So very gracious and sweet. Loved her! I initially asked for the spicy shrimp fettuccine ($20). Honestly, this was awful. I don't often send back dishes, but this was not right, and I couldn't eat any of it. The creamy sauce was too heavy on some sort of weird cheese. I suspect a processed cheese like American (you know, like the type that's used in Kraft singles or Velvetta?) was used. I asked about it and it was not confirmed, but that's what it tasted like to me. Not to mention, it was too acidic and sour, I'm not sure where that came from. I felt bad about sending it back, but Tracy was really nice about it anyway. I asked to replace that fettuccine order with the Shrimp Mediterranean Pasta ($20). I did not enjoy this either, unfortunately, but I couldn't send this back too, that would just be too much as we were already late in the evening close to closing time. This was also much too acidic and sour, the canned tomatoes were overwhelming. The tomato was also weirdly sweet, so too much sugar as well trying to compensate for the acidity? They should have leaned heavier on fresh basil working into the red wine. If they had used fresh roasted cherry tomatoes or substituted for sun-dried tomatoes, it would have saved the dish. Unfortunately, they skimped on the shrimp too as there was only five pieces for the entire plate, which was sad because the shrimp was both cooked and seasoned well. For $20, I think we could have gotten more than 5 shrimps, I mean, really? The chicken breast parmesan ($15) was okay. The chicken could have been crispier. I'm sure it was crispy when it came out of the fryer, but it had been sitting in the red sauce of the pasta for too long and it had already lost the crispiness by the time it reached our table. The tomato red sauce was okay, but again, it was a bit too acidic and sour for us. The fried eggplant ($10) was great. It was perfect with marinara sauce. This didn't have the same problem with acidity! We also tried a cup of the seafood gumbo ($7). It had a dark roux, and it was good, but nothing to write home about. Again, give this restaurant a shot for yourself! One of my complaints was the sauces here ran too heavy on the acidity and tasted too sour for me. If you like a more sour dish, this place might be for you!

The good: service was very kind, quick to take our order and attentive. The place is your run of the mill Italian restaurant, decor a little more upscale and less chaotic which is nice. The bad: the food was "meh." The meatballs tasted over -rolled, very mushy texture, and not flavorful. The sauce was basic and forgettable. We shared the stuffed mushrooms and sadly they were also very mid. My friends shrimp alfredo was okay. I don't think they're terrible but also won't be back. In a competitive area like New Orleans, you just gotta be able to do the basics top tier.

Had the breaded chicken as mozz with onion rings and French onion soup..so good! Order the eggplant shrimp and tomato soup to go. It was house soup. Rather bland. I expected eggplant but had more shrimp. I was so tired after Endymion. I was on my way home so hungry and was like let me stop here the chicken poboy is good. I had no cash at the parade. I was in need of food. But I was so tired I could barely eat. So I ate what I could for the rest to go.the bartender Jackie saw how tired I was. I so appreciated that.sometimes all a girl needs is food and understanding.Over all service and food was well I felt at home. I hadn't felt that way since my grandmother died..she was Italian. Spoke it. Unfortunately never taught any of her kids or grandchildren the language....thanks for the food Chef!

I went with my co-worker for lunch time. Old style Italian feel in the inside. Nice vintage atmosphere. Kind of packed, but service was good. I got the lasagna. I was hoping for more flavor and "bite" from the cheeses though. Ingredients were fresh, and I will be back!

Chicken & andouille spicy gumbo (no rice)

Two Tony's, owned and operated by the Montalbano family, has been in business since 1987 and specializes in Creole Italian and fresh Local seafood dishes. Their original location was in the historic French Quarter, where they catered to the locals who lived and worked in the Quarter. The restaurant eventually moved to its second location in Bucktown in 1993 and transformed from a locals restaurant to a "full-service" one that offered expanded seating and catered more to families. In 2011, with new flood control pumps being built near the restaurant, the Montalbano's moved less than a 1/4 mile east to West End. This newest location added seating for approximately 45 additional patrons in the dining room and a private room for parties up to 40 guests. The full-service bar can accommodate 22 people and features a very well-rounded wine list. The menu includes fine Italian dishes, fresh gulf seafood prepared to your specifications, and great soups, salads, and appetizers. On our most recent visit, I had a cup of Chicken and Andouille gumbo (spicy) for an appetizer. It features a very dark Cajun style roux with file and I opted for no rice in an effort to control my carbs. Kudos to the staff for filling my cup even though I skipped the rice. For my entrée, I got the Seafood salad, which consisted of lump crabmeat, boiled Gulf shrimp, mixed field greens, red onions, tomato, egg & house made vinaigrette. The salad was very filling, the chunks of crabmeat were big and plentiful and the house made dressing was excellent. My wife hit a home run when she ordered the Veal Montalbano, made from paneed veal topped with mozzarella cheese with a creole mushroom meuniere sauce. This veal was fork tender and the serving size was more then generous. (So glad she gave me a full medallion for sampling). I highly recommend this dish. Our server was good to go and I was glad to see they were spacing the tables in order to keep the patrons socially distanced. We had a great time here and will definitely be back.

I have lived in NOLA for 22 years and somehow never made it here until yesterday. What a mistake that was! The menu is huge, just about any Italian dish you could think of is on it. We started with the onion rings which may have been the best I have ever had. Crispy, not greasy at all, and so fresh tasting. The sauce that came with them was so delicious I wanted to eat it with a spoon! I had the plain fettuccine Alfredo as an entree, but there was nothing plain about it. Flavorful and rich, pasta perfectly Al dente. I did have to add a lot of pepper to it, but that is a personal preference, and they provide a pepper grinder at the table. My friend had his favorite which is the shrimp and crawfish pasta. The martinis we had were also great. Too full for dessert, but I hope to try it when I return!

    Meatballs

The food was so fresh and delicious. Meatballs were huge and the marinara was very yummy. Hubby loved the spicy shrimp fettuccine. Said it has just the right amount of spice. Haven't been here in a very long time but definitely will be back soon. Regina was our server and she was fantastic. Sanitizer was readily available and cleaning was definitely in my place. Masks policy being followed.

    Mushroom and artichoke, eh
    Justin M.

Well that's Two no's for me! Won't be two visits either. Wanted to see if their spaghetti is better than my fav place in Metarie and most def not even close. Be prepared to add seasoning to it and the meatballs were just bad, mushy and bready and lack flavor. The noodles were done fine. The eggplant parm was just ok as well. The fried artichoke hearts were ok but i think it be better with a different sauce. The mushrooms were decent but little fishy which was odd. Service was slow.

The West End is a New Orleans neighborhood just south of Lake Pontchartrain. Seafood and boating are big influences here, and I saw quite a few suburban looking single-family houses and some condominium complexes as we drove around. No doubt, Two Tony's is a favorite of the nearby residents. It most definitely has a "hometown feel", the bar and lounge are very welcoming, and the food is both very good and very fairly priced. I was visiting the local chapter of a professional organization I belong to and attended their monthly dinner meeting at Two Tony's. They did a wonderful job feeding our party of 30. We had a group choice of seven meals (!) and the dinners were cooked to order. The choices were Chicken Parmesan, Eggplant Parmesan, Manicotti, Shrimp Fettucine, Grilled Chicken Salad, Spaghetti and Meatballs, and a Catfish Poboy. I went for the Poboy (fried thin-cut catfish in seasoned corn flour breading - $8.95) "fully dressed" which I learned means with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo) for a mere $0.75 surcharge. It was an enormous sandwich on what seemed like half a loaf of Italian bread with plenty of fish fillets and the fully dressed add-ons. It was excellent! The bread, the fillets, the dressings -stellar. It was nice seeing a different kind of New Orleans restaurant -a place the locals enjoy and where tourists (except for us) were pretty scarce.

We had reservations on a Saturday night and were seated almost immediately. As we passed the bar I noticed they had a huge bourbon selection which is always cool. I ordered a "Well She Starts Monday" which is a cocktail made with Buffalo Trace, Cynar liqueur, and Fig Syrup. I was not a fan of this one, so I ordered an Old Fashioned for my second drink, and it was a little better. I got a Burrata for an appetizer which seemed like a caprese salad served with crispy bread triangles. This was really good. For an entree, I got Beef Wellington which until then I had never had. Mansplained, this is a steak cooked medium rare inside of a puff pastry with 2 different sauces on it. Phenomenally good! The atmosphere is really dark with low lighting, dark cherry wood everywhere. The music was bad and loud. If it was one or the other it would have been fine, but this was like if someone gave Yoko Ono glowsticks and said start and EDM band. The Husky is meant for a younger crowd. The food was 5 stars; the atmosphere and experience were probably more like 3 stars.
