Visiting family for the holidays and a relative was raving about the chicken sandwich here so we decided to give it a try. There's a decent sized parking lot here and the interior and outside grounds are very well kept. We chose to sit outside, plenty of seating with shade for most. Starting off with shrimp toast and heirloom tomatoes was a good start to our lunch experience. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my wife got the fresh pasta. We were blown away by both dishes. Juicy chicken with peppers on ciabatta bread and fries to write home about. The pasta was in pesto that seemed freshly made and the grilled chicken thighs we added was fantastic. Thoroughly impressed with the food here but only second to our waiter as far as the total experience. It was a bearded young gentleman, I didn't catch his name but he took care of us and was very attentive. Wow. This restaurant is great! I ordered the Chicken Cutlet Sandwich and my husband ordered the Smash Burger. The chicken cutlet is huge! I saved half for later. The chicken was fried crispy, juicy and had an olive tapenade spread - incredibly good! And this place has some of the best fries I've ever had - seasoned to perfection. Dinner at Garrisons was amazing! *The scallops were an extremely flavorful and unique dish. I was surprised by the chickpeas and how everything went so well together. However, not being a fan of special sauces, I wasn't a fan of the aioli. *The pornstar martini was a deliciously refreshing and exotic blend of vanilla and passion fruit. It was pretty strong also, I could barely finish it. Loved my experience here and its cozy ambience, the staff were all so nice and friendly. we were looking for a special place to enjoy Mother's day and online reviews recommended Garrison so we made a reservation. We arrived a bit early and the restaurant was a bit confused as to the number of people in our reservation. they started the poor customer service which continued throughout the time. overall customer service and timing was poor but food quality and taste was good. we got seated and ordered the cheese and bread as a starter. The bread was really good while the cheese was alright. We then ordered the pancakes, the veggie omelette, the shrimp omelette, brussels sprouts, side potatoes, and a side of toast and biscuit. The brussels sprouts were really good while the potatoes were decent. The veggie omelette was good while the shrimp omelette had really small shrimps. the biscuit tasted frozen and the pancakes were good but were small and more Japanese-style. overall, the food had good flavor but the portion size was a bit small and the customer service was not good read more

We're were greeted and seated quickly. The waitress seemed a bit new or perhaps overwhelmed with too many tables, so the manager gave her a hand. At least I assume he was the manager or perhaps owner. The restaurant was full but it wasn't too noisy which sometimes can be an issue in smaller intimate spaces. The menu was a bit electric and had its own twist to New Orleans cuisine. Our food came quickly. The pancakes looked thick and heavy but they were light and fluffy. I went to the Garrison for the first time on a Wednesday night. Pulled up and there was a good-sized parking lot with additional parking across the street. We sat inside, but the outdoor area was spacious and has good vibes. The inside of the restaurant had great vibes, with all kinds of paintings and pictures on the wall that gave it a cool, artsy feel. The ambiance was romantic but still trendy. The food was delicious - we started with the crab gnocchi and shrimp toast, then I had the pasta bolognese for my entree. The shrimp toast was definitely my favorite dish of the night.. not counting dessert, because the chocolate mousse was honestly one of the best desserts I've ever had. Pretty space, food decent- terrible service.. Ran out of Diet Coke & iced tea. Waiter was an inexperienced child. They 'auctioned' off the food, meaning there was no record of who ordered what. Inevitably the wrong dishes were passed to wrong people. When I addressed the crap service w/ highly arrogant & unpolished owner/manager his response "don't you know what you ordered?". How embarrassing for a fine dining establishment in such a restaurant heavy town to act like a jerk & imbecile. Never spending another $ in there. I came here for brunch nearly a year ago and then more recently, I came here for happy Hour. I was little more impressed with the HH then the brunch. I do think they probably stepped their game up for brunch from what I have read. This place is a gorgeous space and used to be someone's home. I love that we have something like this in Metairie because New Orleans has a bunch of places that are homes turned restaurants and its charming. I love the choice of color on the walls, those beautiful sea blues everywhere. The things I did not enjoy about the brunch was the odd times for the mimosas, in fact they ran out when got there, our brunch was for 1pm. The shrimp and grits were the oddest shrimp and grits I have ever eaten. I guess because it was a grit and not grits... very different. On to happy hour, it is only at the bar, which has a few high-top tables and a few seats at the bar. Its Wed - Fri till 630. I had the chicken liver mousse and the French fries. I've been a few times over now for both dinner and brunch so I'm fully comfortable giving these 5 stars. Firstly, the restaurant is super cute but I always sit on the patio, which is spacious and has a tv in every separate little part. They have humongous fans, which not only cool you down but blow away skeeters & flies. The service is always stellar. I've received great recommendations each time and they did not disappoint. I accidentally went at happy hour the first time & you can't beat $9 cocktails that are not watered down & are tasty. The first one I tried was the Alligatorade - tequila, midori, & lime. It was quite tasty. I think I also had a Penicillin that was good too. The server advised to try the burrata &, MAN, am I glad I listened. I got it twice since then lol. It's burrata with thin shaved cantaloupe, candied jalapeños, hot honey, & mint. It doesn't come with bread but I always ask for crostinis & they oblige. It is so delicious. The crab gnocchi? Also, a hit. They give you a healthy heap of crab meat too. So flavorful, perfectly cooked gnocchi. The braised short ribs are tender and rich and yummy. Perfect whipped potatoes to boot. I don't remember the name of the dessert I had but it was one of the best I've ever eaten & I'm not a dessert gal. It was puff pastry with house made peanut butter & blackberry jam. I'm not even big on peanut butter but I was all in on this. Perfectly layered and balanced and not too sweet. The first time I went for brunch, the server suggested the chicken cutlet sandwich. I was hesitant because I'm not big on sandwiches because I don't eat a lot of bread. But, baby, I am so glad I tried it. It was delicious! Perfectly seasoned cutlets, lemony arugula, briny olives, and the perfectly acidic pickled peppers *chef's kiss*. All this was on ciabatta btw. The last time I went for brunch, I got the burger and it hit the spot. Perfectly cooked and seasoned and the fries were great. I've been tossing around the number of stars I should assign Garrison, and I couldn't decide for a bit. Four or five? I landed on five for the following reasons. This being a fairly new spot, I was impressed with the smooth service we received. There weren't any hiccups and our server was a such a pro that I felt as if I was at a long established New Orleans gem. She was extremely helpful and her suggestions were spot on. She was attentive and professional, with a strong side of genuine kindness. The food was all solid with the exception of the duck salad. Although the flavor of the duck was nice, the rest of the dish felt like nothing. It was as if the intent was just to serve a small bit of tasty duck, and then the chef decided that there should be some presentation, so they placed it on some filler. I think a few slices of duck on a beautiful, small plate would've been nice, and at a lower price point. The focaccia bread service was good. Now for my burger - it was delicious. It was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. I would have appreciated a side of fries or fancy onion rings, so maybe in time this will change. Aside from my burger looking very lonely on the plate, it was a win. I had the king cake cocktail with my meal and I am blown away. It was a perfect interpretation. My hat is off to whomever conceived this unique drink. I've had my share of king cake cocktails over the years, and this was by far my absolute favorite. Y'all, it was sweet but a little bold, and the cinnamon flavor was exactly enough. I wanted a second one, but am a lightweight, so had to limit myself on this particular night. We had been to Garrison's for a drink before, but, this was our first time eating. We were sharing plates. We got the fries (generous portion), chicken cutlet sandwich and fried cauliflower. The cauliflower was the most surprisingly delicious version we've ever eaten! Their fries are thick cut and seasoned with a bit of pepper in the mix, which we enjoyed. Loved the dip for them. The chicken cutlet sandwich was very good, a bit on the bready side for me, so, I took one piece of cutlet off to eat alone and it was lemony wonderful. I wanted to enjoy my visit to Garrison, but the experience fell short in several areas. The water had a strong chlorine smell, which was off-putting. We were seated and left without menus for about 10 minutes, and calling the restaurant beforehand was difficult since the phone was never answered. Our table wasn't fully set when we sat down. We had to ask for napkins. When the food arrived, it was served with improper silverware, and we had to wait for the correct utensils while the food got cold. We visit the New Orleans area a few times a year and I usually rely on a local friend to make suggestions for fantastic restaurants that I might otherwise miss. I am so glad that he made us aware of Garrison! It was well worth the drive from the French Quarter to dine at this fabulous, local owned restaurant. Frist off, the building is gorgeous. The decorations are very classy and it is clear that someone paid attention to all the details. From the well placed picture groupings to the plates used for serving, it is apparent everything was intentional. The outside area is fabulous and I would have loved to join the party going on outside, except my husband was wearing an Ole Miss shirt and it was apparent it was an LSU group mourning that day's loss to Ole Miss! But, what a fabulous spot to enjoy a ballgame, and the weather was perfect. My husband ordered the featured margarita and said it was terrific, with a unique flavor and not too sweet. We had the fried oysters as an appetizer and they were cooked perfectly, with a light, crispy batter and served piping hot! I enjoyed them very much with my glass of Pinot Grigio. My husband ordered the filet as his main course. It was served sliced with roasted potatoes and creamed spinach. The filet was well seasoned, with enough to enhance the flavor and not overpower it. It was cooked to order at a perfect medium-rare. Both of the sides complimented the tenderness and flavor of the filet. They were so busy that it took a little long on the glass of Cabernet to join us at the table to go with the steak, but we could understand that. Our waitress did a fantastic job of taking care of us in spite of how busy they were. I ordered the scallops and the roasted mushrooms as a side. The scallops were an absolute knock out! They were seared with a crispness on them, without being overcooked and rubbery. I love scallops that are cooked well, but hate nothing more to get overcooked scallops that are chewy and have all the flavor cooked out of them. The chick pea mix they were served over gave a wonderful base without trying to out do the scallops. A perfect pairing. I also loved the aioli and believe there were tiny potatoes also in the mix. I practically licked the bowl. The mushrooms were not your average white button mushrooms, but were a hearty and earthy delight that exploded with flavor when roasted. This is another reason why I was OK with the Cabernet coming out a little slow. I was able to steal a few drinks of it from my husband to go with the mushrooms and the flavors together were outstanding. For those saying that the portions were small, I thought them to be reasonable for a high end restaurant. There is obviously a focus on quality over quantity. There was a very loud group next to us celebrating a birthday, so we were grateful that the builder included acoustical panels in the ceiling to help absorb the sound. Without it our dinner would not have been as enjoyable. You absolutely cannot go wrong here. I look forward to having brunch here when we return! read more

I arrived to celebrate Mother's Day with my mom and was shocked to find out my reservation I booked on Thursday for Mother's Day at 12:30pm was not in their system. Manager acted confused and said the reservations were blocked out and that she personally blocked them out the week prior. She could not explain how I was able to reserve 12:30. She had no answers. Just that I am not in their system If the spots were all blocked out and booked, then what is the explanation for me being able to get in there and make a reservation fir 12:30 on Mother's Day? She blamed the mishap on Resy. Just stared at me with nothing much to say. Very stern and unapologetic. When asked if I could at least wait for a table, she noted they were fully booked all day. I requested a gift certificate or something! for THEIR systems mishap in their connection between their booking website and Resy. She responded she could not even give me a GC! My gosh! I would have been fine with $5 off or a free dessert. It's not my fault their booking system screwed up. So so mad. And I'm not one to get upset over little things or make a scene. But when I got outside I spoke to the guests waiting to get in and explained what just happened. Just letting them know how the manager was rude and very cold. No apologies what so ever. No empathy. The day of (last Sunday) we arrived to no table set up. No flowers, gift, placecards and were told all they had was a high top at the bar area. Very disappointing to have gone PERSONALLY The day before and spoke to the manager and no sorry. I excused myself to tell Heather please bring me the gift but keep the flowers and placecards as my guests wouldn't know what they missed out on. She brought the gift and flowers which at that time had to be sandwiched in between our appetizers VERY DISAPPOINTED. I'm not complaining about the food as it was good and appetizers were amazing. The salad was fresh and drinks definitely hit the spot. The visit was just hands down horrible with service. My party had multiple orders for drinks put in but they had a excuse to put the food order in. The party sat at 7:45 and it was 9:00 by the time we got to order food. We have visited Garrisons a couple of times and the food is pretty good. First visit we tried the ribeye and the bolognese. Steak was tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. The bolognese was creamy and rich. Delicious but definitely enough for a couple of meals. On our 2nd visit we tried the porkbelly with cabbage and the grill pork chop with grit cake. The pork belly was tender and quite tasty. We both would have preferred a little char on it. The pork chop was a fail unfortunately overcooked, tough, and dry. However the grit cake served with the chop was amazing. They were very understanding and removed the chop from the bill. Dont forget to try the French 75 with cognac. read more

We passed Garrison's while driving down Metairie Rd and were immediately drawn in by the charming atmosphere--even just from the car window. When we started searching for a cute, delicious spot for Father's Day brunch, we knew right away we wanted to give it a try. I called about a week in advance to make a reservation, and the customer service was fantastic from the start. When we arrived about 10 minutes early, our table was already ready, and the staff was incredibly kind and accommodating--especially with our 1-year-old and his high chair. Definitely a family-friendly spot! They had a special menu for the holiday, and we were very pleased with both the timing and quality of our meal. We never felt rushed, but as soon as we were finished and ready to go, our server was quick and attentive in getting us our checks. My party of 3 had reservations on a Saturday evening. I was shocked to see that there was valet parking. It was backed up and created sort of a traffic jam. Personally, I don't think valet is needed here. The parking lot is large so just let people park and things will flow a lot smoother. Once seated, the server quickly brought us water but we didn't see him again for 20 - 30 minutes. I must say that I expected a better cocktail list for a restaurant with the word Cocktails in it. Once we finally placed our order, it took a while to get our food. The chicken sandwich was decent and had some nice flavors. The Brussel sprouts were overcooked and hard to chew. One of the guests had a very long hair in her Brussel sprouts. The scallops and bolognese were both meh. The accompaniments with the scallops were weird and the dish didn't mesh well. After we finished eating, we asked the server for the check and it took another 30 minutes for us to get it.
