Ordered a side of grilled jalapeños & was served sliced in a bowl, not the usual grilled whole. Sent them back. Second time they were right. By this time my food was getting cold. Chips were not hot. When offered more I said yes, they were the same. Cold & greasy. The Salas has changed. It used to be spicy & thin constancy. This was thick & tasted like basic out of the jar Salas. We stopped in for a quick bite during our travels, and we were greeting with the warm smells of authentic Mexican food. Just as we were seated, our chips and salsa were right ahead of us. The menu had a wide variety of items to offer. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and they were eager to be of service. Everything we ordered and ate was delicious except the side salad on the chicken platter, that should have been served on a separate plate due to the platter was hot and it made the salad warm. January 26, 2023 Went here for my Birthday with my parents and brother and we had a great experience. We were seated right away. Warm Chips and a bowl of Salsa were on the table immediately, then we got started with some refreshing Margaritas. We also got a bowl of their "Hot" Salsa which wasn't too spicy but did the job for me. I can always tell a good Mexican restaurant by the quality of their Mole so for my entree I went for the Pollo Mole, which was great. The chicken chunks were simmered to perfection and the sauce was incredible, rich and full of flavor. I substituted the Refried Beans for a small House Salad which was crisp and fresh. The only thing really disappointing was the Rice.....rather flavorless and with the usual carrots and peas as filler. Beautiful restaurant! Great food! Large portions! Awesome service! Good prices! DO NOT ORDER THE MOLE!!! I had the chicken mole enchiladas and the mole was as thin as tea, no kidding. I've never had mole so watery. I couldn't tell if my enchiladas even had any mole on it as it was like they took a tablespoon of their watery mole and pored it on the enchiladas, which the tortillas just soaked up like it was water. I asked one of the staff if their wife or mother made mole and he said his mother does. My plate was the enchilada (chicken, plentiful but a tad dry) and chili relleno combination plate (5). Very flavorful, smothered in a green sauce, slightly cream sauce. Nice spice although fairly mild. Loved the whole pinto beans that came with it and subbed a mixed green salad for the rice. Salad was on the separate smaller plate and pretty basic although fresh and crispy, no dressing. Being from NM, I rarely go to Mexican restaurants outside of NM. But, I thought I'd give it a go. The chili was ok. Not hot. At all. The fajitas were ok. Way more veggies than meat, but tasted ok. The salsa was not hot and had ALOT of cilantro. Which I don't really like, but know some people do. The guacamole had a lot of cilantro as well. I also made a note that I wanted shrimp as my protein on my taco salad and they called me to let me know it would be an up charge which I thought was nice and I agreed. I received my order and my biggest pet peeve was that the taco shell wasn't recently fried. It was cold to the touch and I've had many taco salads via delivery services and received them still warm so I know it's possible. The shrimp were undercooked and I was incredibly confused as to why there were carrots and celery in the salad? We found this place while in town for the night and looking for a restaurant where we could bring our dog along after a long day in the car. They have an outdoor patio with about 6 tables and we were able to bring in our pup to join us for dinner. One caveat: after calling and confirming that we could bring our dog, we were told upon arrival that they have to get the consent of other customers who are dining on the patio. We got the OK, but I would have been upset if we got turned away after calling ahead first. Anyway, on to the dining. The restaurant was very slow (Sunday night), so we were seated right away and had the proper amount of attention from the waitstaff. I ordered the mole enchiladas and my wife had the carne asada tacos. Although not something we'd go out of our way for, the food was good and arrived very quickly. I eat here at least once a week with the girls from the office. I enjoy the enchilada/chili relleno lunch special, which comes with beans and rice. The relleno is egg-battered instead of fried. I often prefer a fried relleno, but this is delicious. My husband loves the chicken mole enchiladas with whole beans on the side. I've also had the tacos, Fiesta enchilada, tamales, and chicken flautas. All yummy. Try the Mexican Pizza, on the appetizer menu, which is huge meal on it's own! Beef or chicken is good. The salsa and cabbage salsa sre tasty. Oh! And try the queso...deeeeelicious! The restaurant is roomy, clean, and well-lit. The timing of food coming out is great, which is why we often come for our hour work lunch. The prices good, I think, and the lunch portion big. There is a great lunch menu, and the dinner menu is pricier but also bigger servings. They also offer a daily lunch special for $5, Monday through Friday. There is a great kids menu, which has a variety of kid-friendly options. The main reason I come here is for the management. Ezekiel and Alex, who manage the restaurant, are kind and friendly. They help their service staff and also stop to shake hands with the patrons. They are superb and I feel like I've come to their house for dinner...that's how awesome they are. I really wanted to like this place... really, I did. Maybe we came at an "off" time or day for this town (Saturday night 7:00 pm)? Restaurant was pretty empty and we were seated immediately and brought cold, stale chips, salsa that was made with VERY VERY over-ripe tomatoes and some shredded cabbage that was dry and missing pickling juice. That was gratis, so okay... I can't really complain. But the overpriced entrees we ordered were mediocre, at best. For dessert we split a flan, but it was a very odd, heavily thick and chunky consistency and my teenagers wouldn't touch it after one bite. On the positive side... our server was very sweet and attentive, and we didn't have to wait very long at all for drinks or for our entrees. We ate here twice as we travelled from California to Colorado Springs. My wife and I had a combination plate first time and then the taco salad. The portions on each were generous providing good value for the money. As far as taste, the taco salad had an excellent spice in the dressing which made the contents very tasty. The combination plate was okay but not great. But their salsa was excellent and spicy so I just added it over my black beans and enchilada. The service was very good. We were seated promptly and within minutes had water and chips and salsa. The margaritas were also generous and you could actually taste the Tequila instead of just the mix.
