Food is ok, portion size ok, but at almost $12 for a burrito and fountain soda I was kinda hoping for more than OK. They put beans and rice in the burrito, which I like (I find this is common in CA but not so much in UT/NV/AZ), but they also add lettuce as filler, which I don't like (rarely see that anywhere else). Maybe this place is exclusively good for tacos, but the carnitas isn't crisped/fried, just slow-cooked the night before and left in the ol' Stoino tray for quick and easy serving. Once again OK but not great. It's the fastest/cheapest convenience stop to the bus transfer center if you got an hour to wait between buses tho. read more

This place is legit. I have been 3 times now and the tacos have been spot on every single time. It is a no frills family run spot with some seating if you'd like to stay and eat. You order at a walk up counter and food is ready pretty quickly. I am a fan of the carnitas, barbacoa, chicken, shredded beef and asada. Prices are very reasonable. amazing customer service and atmosphere but one thing I find stupid. as you know about 90% of Mexican restaurants have queso but what I find stupid was that they don't have queso which I find ridiculous but they do have Nachos and high k guess makes up for it... somewhat anyway. anyway I got 3 soft tacos, ground beef, and shredded cheese and lettuce which I guess I didnt speak up enough for them to hear. But this is authentic Mexican cuisine which I'm not used to, they cooked the ground beef in my taco twice so it tasted like a burger and the tortilla was a corn tortilla. And they wasn't much cheese on my taco but overall not that bad and really good! I recommend to go. read more

There is always a line between noon and 1p, which I find to be a great sign of what they are serving. A sign above the counter is your menu as you order at the cash register. I've had four items over two different visits. I've had their taco salad, taco, tamale, and burrito. All items have great flavor and are prepared as ordered. The taco salad is more of a chips and dip with layers of refried beans, cheese and some lettuce. It's a pretty messy dish served in a paper tray. My tamale was soft and wonderful. I do love good tamales and these tamales are great. On my second visit, I had a taco and a burrito. The taco comes open faced on a small corn tortilla. Almost bite size, not a full size taco as one would expect. My burrito was great, much larger in size to my taco, which was full of flavor and ingredients dripping out of the tin foil wrapper. Their green salsa or hot sauce in the clear plastic squeeze bottle adds just the right amount of heat to each item. I'm not sure if it is pre-made or if they make it from scratch, none-the-less, it's good. While in line, I was chatting with a woman who told me that they have really grown over the years. They started out with the kitchen and one outside window with outdoor seating, then they added the main indoor dining area and then the second dining area later to what they have currently. All of these additions show growth and their food keeps bringing customers back. The interior is not fancy, but Taqueria Guadalara is affordable and really good. read more

Really good tacos (and more) served in a clean, attractive restaurant. The tacos are not large, but loaded with fillings. We tried barbacoa, chicken, adovada and pastor. I liked them all. Big hit was the shrimp tostada special. Loaded with nicely cooked shrimp in big chunks. The tortilla was nicely fried and crisp. I loved it and hope it is often a special. Everything I saw on other people's plates looked great too. Burritos are very popular and will be on my list for next time. Caveats? Well, I didn't think it was as cheap as other folks did, though it certainly not pricey. But, I could spend a good bit here (probably because I liked the food too much). Only one house salsa. It was green and it was good. But I am a condiment hound and would have liked to have a few others to choose from. Good place for a quick meal. Not very good. Barbacoa was decent, adobaba was bad, chile rellenos were fine but had NO SAUCE! And the chile rellenos came on a bed of lettuce for some reason so they just stuck to the bottom of the chiles. Refried beans were bad and the rice had no flavor. The tacos were very good. I had a grilled chicken, a carnitas and a carne asada with cilantro, onion and lime. The carnitas was my favorite-- very authentic. The guacamole on the other hand was a total disappointment. It's just watery pico de gallo with a few (very few) chunks of avocado. Newsflash: guacamole should be *mostly* avocado, especially for $4.50 for a small side. If I hadn't taken my order to go, I would've asked that they add avocado to it or take it off my bill. When I'm craving real tacos, I head here. The carnitas tacos are so good that I've never actually tried anything else. They load the tacos with meat, and the onions and cilantro are very fresh. They provide plenty of lime, and the green Chile sauce that goes on the tacos is bright, spicy, and delicious. Service is great and very fast. I'm only dropping it to four stars instead of five because, the last time I was there, the carnitas was a bit dry, as if it was yesterday's rewarmed. Great tacos!! Probably the best in grand Junction. Very authentic. The hot sauce is good, but often the bottles are dirty or sticky since they get passed from table to table. I hope they are at least wiping them down. The meats are great, La Lengua is my favorite and each taco is only $2. You'll need to get 3-5 tacos to fill up since they are small. Inexpensive and mouth-watering tacos. Its always busy here, not overly so, but enough that you can tell the food is good! They have a semi-open kitchen where you can watch your food being made. Fresh. Fresh. FRESH!! I recommend the Tamales, and the Tacos, my favorite is the barbacoa. These are authentic traditional Mexican tacos, small and served on corn tortillas with fresh queso and cilantro--so don't come expecting Del Taco fare. They have many different soft drinks including Mexican Coke and Jarritos. The prices are better than reasonable, its a small place so I don't think they have much overhead. read more

I ordered Pork Chops but they said they were out. Therefore, I ordered the Carne Asada Take Out. The menu says it comes with rice, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, pico de gallo, and tortillas. What I got: a few pieces of burnt meat, some rice and refried beans and no lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole and pico de gallo. Whom ever is rating this restaurant above a Two has never eaten authentic Mexican food a day in their lives. I had the Carne Asada burrito. Which was a carne and rice burrito in the sense that carne means meat and there was meat in the form of hamburger and gristle with well flavored rice. Carne Asada is not hamburger it is a type of steak. The burrito was folded by what must have been a two year old but, the tortilla itself was nice. The ambiance was aggressive and hateful. Its 2.50 for a soda but on the soda machines a sign says no more than 1 refill, really a fountain soda cost about 25 cents with a takeout cup. There are other low class and are you kidding me signs all over the 10 square feet you walk into. First time buyer never returner. read more

I ordered the shredded beef burrito smothered in green sauce...yum! The meat had good seasoning and was flavorful without the green sauce, the green sauce just made it better.
