We went to Fife & Drum after the Turning Blue ceremony. When we arrived, we learned there was a set menu of burgers, chicken strips or salad bar. Disappointing, but we carry on. Then we discover it's a buffet of those three options. My soldier said it was better than the DEFAC, so I guess that's all that really matters. read more

I met my husband here for lunch during a tour with his new recruit class; as soon as we approached the hostess station we witnessed her lecturing a group of recruits about how much servers earn and how tips and taxes work and she told them they must tip at least 25%. Right away that didn't sit well with me specially since the way she was speaking to them didn't seem very polite. Mind you these were young men attending basic training at Fort Benning. She took one look at my husband who was in uniform and said "you can go right on in; drill instructors sit at the bar". Ummm ok; what if we wanted a window seat or something? Anyway we're not ones to protest or complain so we found seats at the bar. The service immediately was not good; the server took 10 minutes to take our drinks order and another 10 minutes to bring them out (just two sweet teas). When she returned we ordered the hummus to start. 10 minutes later she returned to let us know they were out of hummus. So we asked for the chick pea fritters instead. She walked away before we can order our entrees. Mind you it's been been like 30 minutes of just sitting around waiting and observing her seemingly annoyed with the customers and staff. They weren't very busy and there were plenty of other servers and food runners so I'm not sure where all the stress was coming from. After about 15 minutes our appetizers came out and we ordered our entrees. I had the salmon sandwich and my husband ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. The chick pea fritters aka falafel were good but they were served with plain yogurt out of a container. Not the usual tahini sauce I've usually had them served with. My salmon sandwich was less than mediocre. Some bites were extremely salty and others were bland. It also needed more aioli and less capers perhaps. My husband said his sandwich didn't impress or disappoint. The cucumber salad and orzo salad were bland and less then mediocre. The food was just not good. Another thing we noticed was the one of the bartenders was eating her lunch at the bar (finger foods with her hands) and serving people between bites. Very unprofessional and kind of gross. I've worked as both a bartender and server in the past and that's been a no no everywhere I've worked. After what seemed like almost 2 hours later. We finally got our check and noticed my husbands meal had been comped. Not sure why though because we didn't complain nor were we rude. So maybe it's because he's a drill instructor with the tour or because they knew their service was that bad. Nonetheless we paid and tipped according to what the bill would have been before the discount. I certainly hope the new recruits weren't given this bad of service and expected to tip over 20%. They're young men who don't make much money and who deserve better treatment and service. I hope a restaurant on an army installation can hire better staff to show our service men and women a little more respect in the future. read more

The National Infantry Museum has been open for almost 6 months on the regular. However every time I go to the museum the restaurant is closed or only open for Soldiers on a tour. The menu on the yelp is outdated. They only serve hamburgers and chicken tenders. Don't waste your time trying to get lunch here. Just find something else. It's sad to see a wonder museum be brought down due to a piss poor "restaurant". read more

Not a very good experience. we were told there was a 30 minute wait. So we waited. When we returned we were told they did not have a party of 8 ready. We decided to split the group into two. When we walked in there were 12 empty tables...? The server took or order. It took 10 minutes for drinks to get to the table and an additional 5 for alcoholic beverages. Food took around 30 minutes and it was nothing to brag about. It was very apparent that the were understaffed and not ready to take care of their guests. read more

After walking through the museum we stopped for a quick bite and little reminiscing before heading back to Atlanta. Promptly seated by the windows over looking the Vietnam memorial wall replica. Our waiter was very nice and made sure to keep our drinks refilled. The 4 of us that ate ordered different sandwiches; buffalo chicken, buttermilk fried chicken, turkey & brie, and then 1 chicken strips platter. For me the turkey and Brie sandwich with the fresh spinach and cranberry mustard was very good. The side of cucumber salad was perfect accompaniment; good mix of cucumber, onion, vinegar, and dill - wished I'd ordered more. For a restaurant in a building that it isn't the primary reason to go the food was all around very good and not overly priced. read more

We ate at the restaurant after a trip to the museum. The food was really good, especially the Benning Burger. At first we started to leave because a large group was coming in. We were afraid of the wait time. All went well and we were in and out in a reasonable time. Service was good considering the crowd. The Chili Cheese Fries were huge! They were a meal in them selves. So so very disappointed. They apparently changed the menu past Tuesday. Not happy about it. The old menu had some good stuff and tasted good, portion was great and fresh and plump and oh so yummy. The new menu, everything sounds good until the plates come out and it's a different story. They had a good thing going and idk why they changed. I don't think they will get occurring customers anymore. Perhaps, new visitors now and then but I don't see them keeping customers with new menu and services. My co-workers and I (frequent eaters there) decided to take a visit today, the things were missing out of the menu and that was a first disappointment. So I had ordered chicken fingers and fries (what can go wrong with that?) and my co worker had ordered wings (they used to have two flavored ones which is not a lot but it worked and they were delicious and very meaty. Let me start off with the service, with the new menu, idk if they changed the management and the staff too but the server/service sucked and she had no table manners. She was polite, kinda, but reaching over the table and people's food that was not very nice and sliding things off the table. No no. Order took forever. We've never had that issues here before even when it was jammed packed, wth lines of boot campers waiting outside the door, never had issues with taking forever. Besides we ordered chicken fingers and wings. Not some 13 course meal. Food, seriously?! I've had chicken fingers there before, it looked NOTHING liked this. I could've had better and bigger strips eating off of frozen bag. My co-workers chicken wings.... Where's the meat? We've had ordered various things off the menu and never seen anything as to what we'd seen today. Chicken fingers had no taste to it. I literally had to dunk it in ketchup and honey mustard to get some taste. Bring the old menu, the service and the management (if that changed, too). We were there this past weekend visiting the museum, which we thought was awesome. Came to the restaurant to get lunch... Service was ok, food average. The main reason for writing this review is to express my shock and horror listening to the hostess (Jessica) lecturing to the recruits about how to behave in a restaurant, she was handing them paper menus - she was talking down to them so much - like I wouldn't do to anyone, let alone to these young men who deserve our respect and admiration - do not ball up the menus, do not eat them, do not throw them. Don't change seating in the restaurant since that will mix up the food order. How to pay, How much to tip since the wait staff makes only $2 an hour and how they work so hard!! Excuse me! Seems like these recruits have signed up to protect you and defend our wonderful country, leaving homes and loved ones, to ultimately put their lives on the line, and to hear this lecture was just humiliating that people can be so insulting. I wanted to tape this and put it on you tube... Others on our dining table also couldn't believe how this hostess had such contempt in her voice. I was disgusted for days. Is this how it is? This is an army base and I thought this place of all places should be extremely respectful towards our troops! It disturbed me that these young men were standing there taking this abuse like they were accustomed to it. I'm an immigrant and I am thankful every day for this nation and so grateful I can live here. I respect and salute every soldier. read more

Christy did an amazing job as our waitress while I was visiting the NIM on family day to pick up my cousin. The fish tacos were very well made and the fries were the optimum level of crispiness. Not to mention Yuengling on tap. Can't go wrong, would highly recommend. read more

Service was below average. We love the NIM; however, we took in lunch after a graduation and exploring the museum. Took this restaurant over 30 minutes to seat us on a very slow day. Then, after ordering it took us over 45 minutes to get our food. It was luke warm at best. Our waitress tried to serve our food, but the manager refused to let her serve our food for some reason. The manager of this restaurant has some issues and until she's gone; don't bother. The food was average too. read more

Kind of confused about the reviews here since we had an excellent experience. My son was graduating from OSUT at Ft. Benning and we had gone through the museum (which is amazing, BTW) that morning. It was noon and we were worried about just walking in and being seated since there were 7 of us. Luckily they had a couple of large tables set up just outside the entrance overlooking the main floor of the museum. One was already occupied by a family and we were immediately seated by the friendly hostess at the other. Our server was Christine and she was fabulous! Super friendly and very attentive. One person in our party had some health/dietary restrictions and our server answered her questions, checked with the chef when she didn't know the answer and made sure to accommodate her needs. Our food came out quickly and everyone enjoyed their meals, from wings to burgers. The Ceasar salad was fresh, the seasoned fries were very tasty, and I really enjoyed the pulled pork. Our server congratulated our son on his graduation, thanked him for his service, and gave him a free dessert. If we ever make it back to Ft. Benning, Ga., we would definitely eat at Fife and Drum at the NIM again! read more

Ambiance is cool, chill, relax. There is a tremendous shortage on waitstaff, only 3 servers on a Friday- (Basic Training graduation day at a national infantry museum?) The bistro is equipped with a full bar and child friendly atmosphere. The bar is separate from the eating area in a romantic yet modern-themed, dimly lit area. All food is prepared by chefs, it's a dining experience with style, and for that, I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the Special of the day, Flank steak sandwich atop the aromatic, crunchy & well presented tomato & basil ciabatta bread complimented by seasonal arugula. Finishing touches to the sandwich were accompanied by sauteed portobello mushrooms with caramelized onions melted in with swiss cheese. The final touch included a hint of spice in a basil vinaigrette sauce that really set things off! The sandwhich came with a side of crinkle cut fries which were you average expectation of fried fare, except these guys had seasoning added on. Not a great thing, but not terrible either. The kids had a Mac & Cheese dish with a side of fries- I think it was Kraft, because it certainly wasn't homemade. The order included 3 slices of granny smith apples, minus the caramel dip. For the price it cost me to feed the 3 of us, I will be back again. My meal was 9.95, & with the kids order, I paid less than 15$ for a great experience! Check them out sometime- there was plenty on the dessert menu, but I was beyond full from the sandwich. Some of the dessert offered was buttermilk pie, cheesecake, fried donuts, and ricotta pie. It's not horrible for a restaurant in a museum. I've been to a few, and some are just out right bad. This wasn't a 5 star meal but it was pretty good. Most of my family ordered the burger. Cheese burger to be precise. It was pretty good ... if you mess up a burger we are in big trouble. The fries were actually really good, I kept stealing my sisters, since I didn't get any with my dish. I had gotten the coleslaw which was A-Ok. I got the flank steak burger which was pretty good. A bit messy and the juice from the steak makes the bread a bit soft, so I ended up finished just the steak. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but if I was visiting the museum, which I highly recommend, and you are hungry, stop in for a quick bite to eat and enjoy your day at the museum. read more

We go here all the time and get the wings, french fries and occasionally the BLT. The staff has always been super friendly to us. The restaurant is super clean! You will have your days when the place is really busy when the soldiers graduate or have family day. Other then that it's a relaxing atmosphere. I would highly recommend the Doug's Sweet Heat wings. read more

I'd give this place no stars if I could. We went well before closing but they had set almost all their staff home except one waitress and a trainee in the kitchen (we found this out at the end of the meal). They were "out" of sweet tea for the day. The food took forever even though we were the only new customers to walk in. My mom ordered orzo salad but when they brought the food out they brought some other side without even asking what she wanted instead, when asked she said they were "out" of that too. The food that was supposed to come out hot came out ice cold. I ordered macaroni and cheese for my one year old figuring that a nice restaurant would have real macaroni and cheese, nope it was kraft macaroni I could have bought for 99 cents and it was ice cold. It took forever for the waitress to come back and check on us a again at which point we just gave up and asked for the check. She didn't put in our restaurants.com gift card correctly so we were overcharged. There wasn't even a manager to talk to. The food was disgusting, service terrible. I will not be returning ever. Don't waste your time or money there. read more

No. No. No. If you had a spectacular time at the national infantry museum like I did, dont ruin it with a meal here. I thought it would be good since the museum that it's located in is amazing but alas, it is not. I got the fish tacos which were just ok but they had enough napa cabbage on it for double the amount of tacos given. I didnt even know napa cabbage went in fish tacos! My bf got the cheeseburger and chili cheese fries which were decent but def not worth about $9 & $7 respectively. Overall just really overpriced for an average quality meal in an otherwise amazing establishment. read more

I MAX theater is on site with a few showings. There is a bar ... Although I didn't stop there. All in all good expenditure as a means to support the museum. read more

The waitress was kind and friendly and I liked the side of pasta, but the Thai nachos tasted like peanut butter on nachos (and I love Thai) and the spinach nachos tasted over warmed. I was left underwhelmed. read more

This place doesn't have great reviews which is also why I did want to give credit where it's due. My family and I came here right after my little brother graduated from the Army at Ft. Benning. We knew he wanted to go there, so the day before we called to make "reservations," which is really more of a call ahead for them to try and get us in if possible. However, when we arrived an hour earlier than we had anticipated the hostess let us know it'd only be 10 minutes, which was wonderful! Our waitress greeted us almost immediately and got the Thai Nachos going for us as an appetizer. They were delicious! But, they are very small for 1) being nachos and 2) sharing with anyone, but delicious nonetheless. We all ordered some sort of entrees. I had the salmon sandwich which was cooked very well and was good. I would only recommend they put more capers and sauce on there. My mom got the cold turkey sandwich with brie. Very yummy. The burgers my brother and dad got were average. They only give you one slice of bacon for the whole burger. SO, the reason I am giving this restaurant 5 stars instead of 3 or 4 is because of Adrian. He was the food runner or expo of some sort. He was delivering food to tables one after the other so I could only assume. He was very friendly and nice. He was outgoing, personable and had a poppin' personality! He refilled drinks at our table and all the tables around us too! So he was like support staff for everyone. Hire more people like him and I promise your ratings with continue to go up. Keep up the good work! read more

First time eating here even though we are local. Was a pleasant surprise to learn the restaurant also serves adult beverages from an attached bar. Had a nice flame broiled burger with fresh toasted wheat bun. Menu is mostly burgers and sandwiches. Attentive server and reasonable wait time for the burgers. I'd eat lunch here again. read more

Service in this place was close to ZERO. It is a shame as the Infantry Museum where the restaurant is located was 1st class. -Getting seated took forever. -Getting food took forever. -Getting bill settled took forever & a day! (all this wait was with not that many customers!) To top this off, I left my credit card there by mistake and when I called, the person said they could shred it up but could not mail it to me (out of town) as the girl said "it was against the law to mail a credit card". I never heard of this law - I'm thinking they were just too lazy to drop it in the mail. I had to cancel card & reassign a bunch of re-occurring payments to the new card (my fault for leaving the card to begin with). Anyway, I plan to go back to the museum but NEVER to this restaurant. read more

Listen to this!! Our son went there during his basic training with some of his fellow soldiers while at Benning. Now keep in mind this restaurant is on Ft Benning. The place was busy and the soldiers (in uniform) were greeted rudely with "we're really busy to have seven of you here" and "you realize the normal tip here is 25%". Basically terribly rude. His ticket as well as most of the others were around $21. He tipped $5. Checked his bank two days later and on his and four other tickets they totaled out $35!!!!! Infantry museum restaurant on an infantry base screwing over soldiers?!? Wow! Maybe a bad employee but unbelievable. I would avoid based on principle and I hope the managers see this. read more

My family and I went to visit the infantry museum and decided to have lunch. The hostess was nowhere to be found so I guess a manager sat us. Our waitress was polite but as the lunch went on she seemed to lose interest in serving us. Both my children had the kids chicken fingers, my husband had a grilled chicken Caesar salad, and I got a blt. We waited for like 20 mins to get our food and I could see our food sitting in the kitchen for 10 mins. My husband said his salad was ok and my kids were seemingly satisfied. I on the other hand was not impressed. They took the easiest thing in the world to make and messed it up. There was no mayo and the bun was burnt. The waitress seemed annoyed when I asked for mayo and brought me one pack which might have been ok if it wasn't so dry and she seemed more annoyed when I asked for another. I ate about half and then quit. The meal was definitely not worth $50 some odd dollars we spent. We will not be going back. read more

We thought we'd save time by coming here since we were passing through the area and wanted to go to the museum. Server was friendly but food took forever. We got 3 burgers And a sandwich. The restaurant had maybe 3 tables occupied (bad sign of course). I could see in the kitchen and cooks weren't in any hurry at all. Food was very overpriced for what you get. It was edible, but nothing special and had very little flavor. Definitely took away from our very good experience touring the museum. read more

I had a cheeseburger, it was wonderful nothing fancy just cooked well. The fries were crispy the garnish was fresh and the burger was very juicy. I'd recommend it to anyone who wanted a burger done right. My wife had the fish tacos, awesome fresh catfish fried crispy topped with a crunchy cabbage mixture tossed with a zingy ginger sauce served in two warm grilled flour tortillas that was great, but when she squeezed the fresh lime juice on top it went to a hole other level of goodness .. Bravo fife and drum for doing something simple right!!! read more
