The hike to the wooden gazebo was just right for us (not too hard for us); maybe next time we'll hike to the bottom of the falls. If you are looking for peaceful, quiet, romantic, serene, this is for you. We made a fire in the shared area outside, poured a glass of wine and watched while younger couples played cornhole, etc. It was our anniversary so I ordered chocolate covered strawberries, cheese tray and champagne for the room. We knew there were very few restaurant options in the area so I brought some containers of good soup to microwave and enjoy in the screened porch (our cottage had one). If you want to feel like you've gone on an exotic trip without the airports, baggage claim, and headaches, this is the place for you. We were there in late August but I bet fall is gorgeous with leaves, and earlier in the summer you could "live" at the pool with floating lounge chairs and trees to offer late afternoon shade. No time limit is placed on you and instructions are clear. The loss of the star is strictly for the carpeting in the bedrooms/guest rooms. There's nothing historic about the carpet that was used so if there is an anticipated renovation restoration in the future, management might consider replacing Carpet with some type of flooring or have an annual deep cleaning schedule to keep the musty smell away.

Bathroom was clean, but other than a tiny glass shelf over the sink, no place to put your toiletries. Your daily hotel room charge includes a gourmet 3-course dinner, buffet breakfast, and buffet lunch. From the dinner menu, I ordered the lobster en croute soup, the roasted halibut, and chocolate cake. Everything was delicious. Alcohol and espresso coffee drinks are not included. A beer was $11 and a single espresso $6. The buffets were lavish, but too much food, especially since breakfast and lunch were served just four hours apart. Our room for one night for two with the three meals, plus one 8 oz. carafe of wine, one beer, and one espresso with dinner cost a whopping $1,700 with the fees and taxes. We had a pleasant time, but that was exorbitant. My wife wanted to check this place out, no reason to return.

That's when the misinformation and dishonesty started. Despite the emergency and the fact that we did not cancel, we simply checked out early, the staff refused to process a refund for the final unused night without "manager approval." The excuse? A mysterious "no cancellation policy" they suddenly hid behind -- which makes no sense because we weren't canceling the stay, we were leaving due to an emergency. Instead of showing even basic human decency, they treated us like an inconvenience. They continued to argue that because I "didn't book directly with them," they couldn't help -- even though I booked directly through the official website. They just happen to use a third-party reservation platform, and apparently that gives them an excuse to hold your money hostage. This is deceptive at best, predatory at worst. And honestly, the room wasn't even worth fighting over. The Inn itself is essentially a collection of temporary modular buildings disguised as a boutique hotel. The property is poorly maintained, the beds were uncomfortable, and the overall experience did not match the price tag -- which was $255 per night. For that rate, I expected quality, hospitality, or at least professionalism. Instead, what we got was subpar accommodations and staff who were cold, dismissive, and completely lacking compassion or customer service. Bottom line: This place cares more about squeezing every dollar from guests than providing a safe, comfortable, or humane experience. If you need flexibility, basic respect, or even the slightest sense of hospitality, look elsewhere. There are far better options in the area -- don't waste your time or money here.
