The Litchfield Inn was the perfect place for a short stay while I was intown to try the Arethusa al tavolo restaurant nearby. The hotel has very nice architecture and the suite I booked was perfect for my husband and I and our dogs. The amenities are great. We had a whirlpool tub to relax in and plenty of space to kickback and enjoy the electric fireplace. The complimentary breakfast was better than average. I definitely took advantage of the omelet station. The diversity of breakfast options was appreciated as well. The staff were friendly and even offered treats for our dogs. I'd definitely come back. Thank you!

Stayed here on a recent business trip. Surrounding area is quite magical in appearance during this time of the year. Nothing overly spectacular but it kept me warm. Bathroom needs an upgrade to a modern layout. Overall, you're gonna need a car if you plan to do any shopping. Which is also great for exploring the area. I wish I had more time for a scenic drive on this trip though.

I had a lovely stay at the Litchfield Inn. I visited a little over a week ago for my birthday and enjoyed every moment. The front desk worker Chantel was friendly and checked me in quickly. I stayed in the Bridal Suite (let's call it the queen suite lol) and it was beautiful. The gold accents throughout the room and bathroom were tastefully appointed. By far my favorite part of the room was the waterfall shower. The complimentary breakfast was nice with a made to order omelet station each morning. The property is also gorgeous and I definitely recommend spending time on the patio with a good book. I have included a few photos. Videos are available on my Instagram @whollyalaina (Travel Highlight). Go ahead and book your stay - you won't regret it :)

WOW! I wanted to go on a little getaway with my husband to somewhere with a luxurious bathtub. So I googled away and this is how we ended up here. We choose the Cloud Nine room because the had a tub I could live in. Check in was smooth. It was very quiet. We went during the week so I only saw 2-3 other guests during our stay. So many details: the door knockers on each bespoke room, the nice bath accessories like bath salts and bubble bath and cookies when you arrive. Our room had a lovely seating area in front of an electric fireplace that we used to play a board game at. Each corner you turned in the hotel had another hidden treasure with lovely seating areas, fireplaces, books and more. Another huge perk is the complimentary breakfast. Both mornings I had a omelet where you choose all of your add'in's and a staff member makes for you on the spot. We were also treated to bacon, sausage, waffles, pancakes (with warm maple syrup) and many other pastries and juices. The breakfast alone would've cost at least $20 per person if you were to go out to eat. I can't wait to return and try out another one of their bespoke rooms. What a New England gem.

I stumbled along this place online and we were so happy I did! The innkeeper was very gracious and gave great recommendations on local restaurants and activities. It was September/October so we decided we wanted to take a "leaf peeping" drive and so we followed a map and some road signs for magnificent views of the New England fall foliage. We even went over a few covered bridges, that was a first for us! We did wine tastings at local nearby wineries, including Hopkins, which was our favorite. We bought some souvenir wine glasses and a bottle (or three) of wine and enjoyed it at Lake Waramaug -- the most beautiful autumn setting -- not far from home base at Constitution Oak. Bunnell Farm was nearby and they have a great corn maze. You can also stop for fresh produce, pickles and preserves at Freund Farm along the Leaf Peeping route. This B&B is in a great area with lots of local attractions nearby, including historic Litchfield. We stayed in a room upstairs and it was huge! There were 3 beds so we both had our own bed and then some. The bathroom was in the hallway but we were the only guests so it didn't matter. There was a nice dining room with pastries and coffee waiting for us in the morning and a cozy sitting room to unwind.

We enjoyed the rehearsal dinner on the porch of the building next to the large silo. It was right before sunset, so we got to enjoy the gorgeous view of the land, trees, and lake while the August sun went down. There was a lovely breeze and we enjoyed our meal under twinkling string lights. There were tons of beautiful flowers blooming around the grounds, and we enjoyed lawn games on the rolling green grass. The next day, for the ceremony, we were located down by the lake. The ceremony took place on a lawn in front of a beautiful old tree, facing the water. Afterwards, we made our way into the old barn and enjoyed cocktail hour and the reception. The space was well designed and the whole experience was magical; candles and simple draperies. A beautiful breeze flowed through the venue as the rumble of thunder echoed in the distance. Despite the thunderstorm that passed through, we were safe and dry inside the barn. All in all, one of the most beautiful and magical wedding venues I've seen.

This time, I decided to treat myself and rent a car and stay with Mary. What a stellar experience! The house itself is breathtaking, built in 1798 and still retains a great deal of the original structure, including farmhouse ceiling beams, molding, and staircases. The bathroom has a ceramic claw foot tub! On the first floor there is an informal sitting room, a larger living room with a fireplace, and an open layout kitchen nook and dining room with a full dining room table set for breakfast every morning. Mary is up early and offers you coffee, eggs, toast, bacon, fruit, orange juice, whatever you can ask for, she is happy to prepare. During my stay I had delicious blueberry muffins! The house is large, airy and just plain cozy with lots of pillows, furniture, and blankets, but the grounds and gardens were just as delightful and picturesque. There is a large L shaped barn with two additional apartments and a game room, outdoor furniture, a hammock, and plenty of manicured lawn just for taking a stroll. I stayed in the Yellow Room and it was HUGE. I was able to unpack comfortably, spread out in the large bed, plug in my electronics, open some of the several windows, and enjoy the crisp fresh air and invigorating cross-breeze. All this, and more, as a mega added bonus, this bed and breakfast is DOG FRIENDLY, and, Mary does not charge an additional daily fee per pet. She also does not have any breed or weight restrictions. True easygoing country hospitality. My 60 pound mixed-breed rescue pup loved running around in the grass and exploring all the ferns, trees, and wild brush. In terms of payment, Mary accepts credit card, cash, or check, and her rates are incredibly affordable, especially for the area. She is also responsive and super helpful over email and will answer any questions you have prior to booking a room with her. Mary also grew up in the area before moving away and then moving back. She has amazing stories about the town of Goshen and all the farm land. It was one of the most relaxing weekends I've had in a while, and I can't wait to go back.
