    Restaurant week menu

So disappointed. Be careful with restaurant week ! Went for our first visit . When we were seated we were handed the regular menu. I shared we were there for restaurant week where that menu was also brought over. We were the only people seated in this section of the restaurant. I ordered the seafood special and my husband requested the schnitzel. Note, he said schnitzel! We started with appetizers, I had the crab cake my husband had the melon and prosciutto. Now the entree arrived and then dessert of crepes with ice cream and chocolate sauce. All on the restaurant week menu by the way. Meal was delicious until the bill arrived. I paid without looking ( my bad ) until I realized the total of 131 dollars . When I realized ( after paying ) that there was an error in cost ( three course meal for 40 dollars ) should have been 80 dollars plus three cocktails. My first response was wow, cocktails must be very expensive which they actually were very reasonable, I asked the waiter to come back. He said my husband said weinerschitzel not jaegersniitzel ! Seriously. We were very vocal about the restaurant week and quite obvious with the appetizer and dessert chosen from the menu . Although the food was very good we left with a very bad taste and a much larger bill than expected. So, lesson learned, check that bill before paying during restaurant week ! PS: the waiter was argumentative when approached and was oh ok , I'll take the appetizer off , walked away and started playing on the computer for 5 mins with no communication, we simply stood up and left. Ridiculous

The food, the ambiance, the service are all perfect. During this most recent visit and also in the past, I have ordered the Wiener schnitzel. I love it and will probably order it again next time I go. My husband ordered the Bratwurst, as an appetizer, and the seafood saute, as a main dish. He had also ordered these the last time we were there. He likes them so much, why try anything else? The pre-dinner cocktails we had - Barr Hill tonic for me and Aperol Spritz for my husband - were very refreshing. Every time we go to this restaurant for dinner, we have sat outside overlooking Lake Waramaug. What a view! Our server was very competent. We never felt rushed and we truly enjoyed every minute of our meal. We went on Saturday evening and the restaurant was packed; however, the staff was able to manage it well and they were very welcoming. We are looking forward to our next meal here.

We just had the most delicious lunch! Love driving up this way for one of the best foliage in Ct. We called to make a reservation and while it took a while for us to get seated just because of the group in front of us, it was worth it! The very nice lady with the long, silver hair was able to accommodate our request and found a table in the sun for us. She was able to bring our lunch fast since we didn't had a lot of time and it was perfect. You have to try the fresh made garlic bread , Caesar salad and French onion soup. It doesn't get better than this! The interior of the restaurant was beautifully decorated for fall and very busy! Great ambiance! Will definitely return!

What a cute little restaurant nestled under an old fashioned inn. The views of Lake Waramaug are great. If it is rainy then you can retreat inside and enjoy the air conditioning. Portions are generous and service is top notch. I'm a huge fan of fried foods and the wienersnitzel hit the spot. I was craving some warm German potato salad but the fried potato pancake did the job in a pinch.

We re back seven months later. We're sitting outside under the porch, but ask to be seated in the sun! Not a problem. Things are decidedly better. Quinn comes right over to ask if we're being served. So he hops right to it! We order the Lohr Cabernet and have had a 1/2 bottle of Veuve Cliquot Champagne. Both are great! Perfect. Ready to order. First appetizers neon melon and prosciutto, pate with red onions, hard boiled egg, cole slaw etc. and the delicious escargot All just wonderful!! For entrees we've ordered. Weiner schnitzel, chicken cordon blue, roasted duck with vegetables and Jager schnitzel with red cabbage and potatoes All is just wonderful. Really good! It's the end of the meal and it's getting chilly. So we pass on the dessert. Just a couple of espressos will be fine

Beef stroganoff with spaetzle and veggies.

The restaurant has beautiful views of Lake Waramaug. The interior is cozy and rustic, but a bit dated. I had a beef stroganoff with spaetzle and veggies. It was delicious! The beef was amazingly tender. They could have been a bit more generous with the spaetzle, but it was homemade and tasty. The bread was warm and crusty...perfect! The food came out to the table fast and piping hot! The staff was ok. All were teens and they needed a bit more polish and professionalism.

Our party of four spent over $800 celebrating my mother's birthday. A few hours after the meal, my brother became seriously ill, and because I had also sampled his chicken dish and later experienced nausea myself, we were concerned the illness may have been related to the meal. When we contacted the restaurant to share our concerns, the conversations with management were disappointing. Joanne spoke separately with several members of our family and asked whether my brother had gone to the hospital, undergone testing, or had proof of illness. When I asked whether the restaurant maintained food safety documentation, I felt the question was viewed as accusatory rather than as part of a reasonable concern following our visit. Overall, the interaction lacked the empathy and reassurance we had hoped for. No refund, credit, or acknowledgment was offered. As longtime customers who have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and milestones here over the years, the response was surprising. Beyond the health concern, the overall dining experience felt noticeably less positive than in past visits. The bread exterior was very hard, and we noticed other nearby tables eating only the soft interior. The vegetables served with the scallops were tough, the pasta was dry, and most of the dishes (except for the pea soup) lacked flavor. The deserts were lackluster, though the goat cheese cheesecake was delicious. The cheese board appetizer was presented without explanation of the cheeses or accompaniments. Crumbs were not cleared between courses. While our server was friendly, we were repeatedly asked whether we had finished dessert, which made the evening feel somewhat rushed during a birthday celebration. The server also spent time discussing personal matters during service, which distracted from the dining experience. We had to find someone to get our coats otherwise we would've walked out without them. The ambiance at Community Table remains beautiful, which makes the experience especially unfortunate after so many positive visits over the years. Unfortunately, after this experience, our family will likely celebrate future special occasions at other restaurants in Litchfield County that we feel provide a stronger overall dining experience.

We came here because it was highly recommended and the ambience was great. In our first visit, our food took forever to arrive and service was very slow. I ordered the Reuben and when I went to pick it up, there was a large hole in the other side of the bread and the whole thing just fell apart. . The pastrami was very dry and just not very good. Aside from that my wife's meal was very good and we had a beverage and enjoyed the ambiance. This time we went and felt that we had lucked out because there was no one in the place. Our first mistake was, we sat at a high top in the bar, but it was too close to the door, so it was very cold. Every time the door opened the cold air with flow in. I put that on us for choosing a poor seat. The waitress promptly came over and took our drink order and said she would be right back to take our food order as we were very hungry. We waited and waited and it took a while for her to arrive. It looked like she forgot about us and quickly stopped by the table after walking past And asked if we were ready and took our order without writing it down. About 10 minutes later someone else came over and said I'm trying to confirm your order because it was not written down and make sure that we had ordered was ordered properly. The place had hardly anyone in it and not all the tables were taken so we expected our food to be received rather quickly however, after about a half an hour, we started seeing the tables that came in after us were receiving their orders and we still had not arrived. We both had ordered burgers which didn't seem that complicated. After about 15 more minutes, and since we'd been there, almost an hour we still had not received our food. My wife finally went up to the bar and mentioned something to someone there and she said she would go check on the kitchen. She went into the kitchen and immediately came out with our food. Strange? So we basically waited almost an hour for our food and it appeared to have been ready in the back and just sitting there. When we first tasted our food, it was not warm at all. The fries were cold and soggy, and my both of our burgers were warm not hot. This convinced me our order was there and never picked up. At first we thought about sending it back but then after waiting almost an hour, we decided just to eat it and leave. I feel bad having to leave a bad review but it is what it is and that's what happened. I would understand if the restaurant was overly crowded but like I said there was many open tables so I'm not understanding what was the issue. They were running food out, but these runners seemed a bit confused. After two tries, I'm not sure we'll try it again because we like the other place in town up the street just as much. We traveled almost an hour just to go here. There are places that are closer also much better and actually in town.
