Looking at the past posts I find it hard to believe that there are so many negative reviews but I guess some of that depends on the individual you are connected to via the company. I can only comment on my personal experience with the company. My wife and I had Alvin as our DJ for our wedding recently and he exceeded our expectations. We wanted an eclectic mix of songs to make sure that everyone was included in our festivities. Alvin was great about incorporating these ideas into the evening and took a lot of moving parts into consideration when we where planning the wedding. The staff at the main office has always been very helpful and Megan, who we met with before agreeing to use FIG, had a much more comprehensive and intimate interviewing process than other DJ companies. The other music companies we interviewed with seemed more interested in their technology and their employees experience, which is important, and I get it. However, the evening and the presentation is more about our wants and needs and how the company can cater and compliment our relationship. An exact reason why I would endorse FIG for any event you need musical accompaniment to. The only negative would be that at times it was slightly difficult to get a hold of Alvin but usually within 1-2 days he would respond with a professional and informed answer. I must reiterate that we did not use their photography and used someone completely different, whether that would have changed our mindset I do not know. However, I would highly advise sitting down with them to see if they adhere to your wants and needs like they did with us. read more

Let me begin by saying that I am a wedding planner in Chicago and was determined to assemble only the very best team for our wedding day. We instantly hired Megan Taylor from Fig after much experience with Megan and the rest of the Fig crew. You absolutely cannot go wrong. I was so hesitant to book a wedding videographer, especially because many I had spoken to were "artsy" and insisted on sticking to their vision, refusing to even consider the few things I was hoping to have (like short interviews with our grandparents). The team at Fig Media couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating, and as soon as I spoke to them all my reluctance to spend the money on a videographer was gone. The day of, they were everywhere but somehow nowhere - I hardly noticed their presence. But it was apparent that they took our notes and incorporated them into a truly beautiful account of the day that was just the right amount of artsy (I loved the "trailer" they put together for us) and just the right amount of getting all the major moments down for posterity. The video was delivered in a timely manner (which I hear is not always the case) and the team even made a couple post-production edits, which made the videos just perfect. I watch the trailer on our anniversary every year and am still so happy they convinced me that a videographer would be a wise investment! read more

Last night was one of those parties of a lifetime! Thank you Fig Media (and our DJ Alvin Black III) for an amazing experience. From our first phone call to Fig Media and our discussions with Brent to our face to face meeting with Alvin we were really impressed with the professionalism of Fig Media. Alvin traveled all the way to Iowa to DJ our wedding and was so great throughout the entire thing (even when somehow the hotel didn't have his reservation). Definitely not high maintenance or pushy. But it was Alvin's magic at the party that really blew us away! All night (and this morning after the wedding) we heard people rave about the DJ. The music flowed, he read the crowd at every turn, honored requests, paid attention to our wishes and was very flexible. People danced until midnight and as the place was closing down the crowd yelled "One more song Alvin, one more song!" They (and we) loved him! If you are looking for a DJ who isn't corny and believes that music, not fog machines and gimmicks are what make a party great then Fig and Alvin are the way to go! read more

My husband and I used Fig for our photography in our wedding 3 weeks ago, and we just received the pictures. AMAZING! Wow. Fig was slightly more expensive than other options, but honestly, worth every single penny. We had more than 1,000 pictures, most of which were fantastic, for our 8 hour contract with Billy, who also brought his assistant Andrew. Both Billy and Andrew were organized and responsive throughout the planning process. I cannot say enough good things about the results. The pictures were beautiful and really told the story of the day. Our package included digital copies and rights to the prints (2 big pluses that you don't always get w/ wedding pics), and 2 graphically designed photography books. We can't wait to get the books. We worked with Megan in the contractual process and she was willing to negotiate a good deal. We also booked them in the height of the recession so that might have helped a little :-) But we couldn't be happier and I highly recommend working with Billy! PS - In reference to the very weird cult references in some of the reviews below.....those links def do not look reliable and frankly, the whole cult thing seems a little far fetched for a media company. Plus, the person saying that Fig is a cult happens to note that she is a photographer in her tag line (perhaps competition or a poor business relationship in the past?). So that makes me *wonder* about the validity of those remarks. read more

Brian Carey at Fig Media was such a pleasure to work with. He was always so professional, and throughout the night my wedding party and guests would comment that we had such an amazing photographer! He came up with a lot of creative shots and locations to frame our wedding photos. As a result, the photo album was more than we could have asked for. He can do both "photo-journalistic" and "artsy"...it really depends on what you as a couple are looking for and how you pick your favorite photos. Alvin Black III was a fantastic DJ for our wedding. Our initial meeting with him was great, he had a really good grasp of what kind of sequencing of events would work best for the reception, as well as how to lay out the musical feast. And on the night itself, he did not disappoint. Really nice job of getting us through the various ceremonial elements and speeches, splendid command of the room when required (without having to be loud and obnoxious), and music that thoroughly satisfied our crowd of Colombians, Brits, and plenty in between. A guest described it as "like 80's night at the Tombs [our college bar]", and that was exactly what we were going for. After contacting a couple different DJ services for our wedding, we decided to go with Fig. It was the best choice we could have made. We got paired with Brent, who made the whole process so much fun. His enthusiasm is incredibly infectious, and he was totally on board with our type of music: mostly a mix of oldies, 80s hits, and some select recent songs. Brent helped keep things moving smoothly, we had no technical issues of any kind, and he got all our songs played and then some. Two months after our wedding, people are still raving about the music. We got married May 19th, 2018 at the Morton Arboretum and the icing on the cake (no pun intended) was DJ Brent Rolland...the BEST! Wow! I can't tell anyone how happy and lucky I am to have had these guys for my wedding this past weekend. We hired Fig Media and Drew Gee as our wedding DJ this May. Drew went beyond our expectations! He and his assistant really did a great job. Everything went perfectly! We were so pleased with all the song selections. He really listened to everything we wanted from singer/songwriter songs during dinner, to music to get everyone dancing during the reception. Everyone was dancing the entire reception from our little nephews to our 87 year old Grandma. We received so many compliments about the dj and the music! Everyone was saying they had the most fun, they never heard good song after good song before. Even our photographer who has been to many weddings, told us this was the best music she heard. Cannot express how great our experience with Fig has been. Every time I spoke with anyone they were always friendly and willing to help. The DJ for my wedding was Drew and we couldn't have asked for anyone better then him. Whenever someone talks about our wedding they always tell us how great the music was. My wife and I recently got married and had DJ Brian from Fig as our wedding DJ. He was absolutely fantastic, and over and over went above and beyond the call of duty, from meeting with us twice before the wedding, to even coming to our rehearsal to meet our folks before the big day. My wife and I have pretty picky tastes (we're not big Gaga fans, for example) and Brian really listened to what we did want and didn't want to hear. We had numerous people coming up to us during and after the night telling us how great the music was. We used Fig for their DJ services after seeing them DJ one of our best friends' weddings. They did a great job there, so we thought it was an easy decision. My wife set up an appointment with the owners of the company - and they met with us for an hour and discussed everything we wanted for our wedding day. My wife gave me complete creative control on the music for our wedding (big leap of faith) but Fig completely came through. After giving them our top 10 - 15 songs we wanted to hear, as well as some groups we liked to listen to, Fig suggested that Alvin Black (a.k.a. AB III) would be the right DJ for us. They were spot on! I met Alvin at a Starbucks and it was obviously he knew what he was doing. From that point on, Alvin was always accessible and on the day of our wedding, Alvin knocked it out of the park. Alvin knows when to take charge, keep things on schedule, and also when to sit back and help the party take on a life of its own with his music selections. Both my wife and I recommend Fig and Alvin Black. He was terrific at knowing the types of music to play during dinner, the early hours when all ages are trying to get involved, and late night when the younger crown is ready to get after it. We used Fig for both the photography and DJ for our wedding on 3/3/2012. We were impressed by both! Tim, our main photographer, was amazing! He is laid back which really helped to put everyone (especially my husband and I!) at ease. He was efficient and productive; we made it to five Chicago locations and still made it to our cocktail hour on time. Tim was with my bridesmaids and me before the ceremony and he handled being with eight, likely loud and somewhat nervous females in stride. When we found out that my father didn't have a tie with his tux he offered to let him wear his bowtie. It was a seriously sweet gesture! Brian, the secondary photographer was also incredibly great to work with. He and Tim made a great team! Brian was with the guys before the wedding ceremony and he was patient and flexible with them (they weren't ready when he arrived). We met with Tim prior to the wedding to walk through the wedding day timeline. He was detailed and honest about what he thought would work and what might not. Both Brian and Tim were very knowledgeable about places in the city that would make great spots for wedding photos and we definitely appreciated their input! We went into our wedding day confident that our photos would be amazing. Brent was our DJ and he was professional, thorough, and best of all, is great at his job! We just loved working with him. The dance floor was seriously packed all night long thanks to Brent's playlist, he felt out the crowd and went with what kept people moving. Our reception space had less than ideal acoustics which we were initially worried about, however, you would have never known being there. Brent did a great job getting everything set up and the music and speeches sounded wonderful! I do not believe that all of the songs on our 'must play' list were actually played which disappointed me when I thought about it the next day, but I honestly had so much fun dancing I didn't even notice at the reception. We met with Brent prior to the wedding and walked through the wedding day timeline. He took thorough notes and even helped us pick a cake cutting song! Overall we were incredibly impressed with Brent and our work with Fig Media and would highly recommend them to anyone needing a DJ! Overall, working with Fig Media was a pleasure and their professionalism really made us feel like we made the right choice. We loved using FIG as our DJ and photographer for our St. Paddy's Day wedding! They were easy to get in contact with during the planning and really understood what we were going for. Luckily, that all changed when I spoke with Brent from Fig. He was able to clearly understand our vision for our wedding, was on board with music selections, and was able to meet our price point! We were assigned to work with Alvin, who ended up doing a fantastic job throughout the night. He was able to provide music for our outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour, and then seamlessly move the music inside for the dinner/reception. Overall, the music was PERFECT! Hafeez did the music for our wedding in April 2012. He was perfect!!! We had very specific requests for the 3 sections of the wedding (ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner/party) and he nailed it!! He did a wonderful job listening to the vibe we wanted and was careful about not playing songs we didn't want. I recently booked Fig Media as the DJ's for my nonprofit's annual event after seeing them at another fundraiser. The whole staff was great. Megan helped me to find a DJ who fit our event and budget. Our DJ Brent was wonderful. So nice, friendly, and helpful. He even indulged my requests for a couple overplayed songs that I knew our guests would want to hear. All of our guests raved about the "vibe' of the night and how it felt "cool, not like a normal fundraiser." We had a fabulous experience working with Fig Media for our wedding. After searching and searching for a photography studio that we liked, we settled on Fig! Why? Well we knew of a few friends who had their weddings photographed by Fig, as well as friends who also used their DJ services... and after visiting their site and seeing some of their work - we decided we would make an appointment. After meeting with Megan, sharing with her what we were looking for and looking at some of their books - we said yes and signed an agreement. Soon there after we met with our photographer, Brian, and discussed some ideas and wrote down notes for must have photographs.
