I've tried a couple of times in the past to get into martial arts through group classes at various gyms and it wasn't enjoyable. Simon is really great with my 11 year old as well as really honing in the fighting techniques to maximize your potential for impact and strength. But after my partner and I crawled off our couches and looked into the mirror, we were horrified to see what pandemic survival really did to us. Then, thank god, Matt and Lorenzo came into our lives. These two have shown us what CRISPY really means. It's that prime state of physicality, the beautiful syncing of body and mind. I've been involved with some form of martial arts since I was 12. Started out with boxing in my buddy's backyard, then I became a Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor, then I went through an Executive Protection Course in Israel and trained Krav Maga, and then I got fat and old and I kind of gave up on training. Well, I've started back up again with Matt and his crew and the quality of training is invaluable. He tailors his training sessions with what I have in mind and he's accommodated my knee injury that I'm currently rehabbing. He's more than willing to listen to my stupid questions and provides answers to said stupid questions in a manner that I've never encountered before. Hands down, this is the best training I've ever received and you simply cannot go wrong with Matt and his crew. And the appeal is across the board from novice to expert (I don't consider myself an expert, but I know I'm not a novice). Along with personal one-on-one training sessions, I've done a group training session with my friend who has zero fight experience and she absolutely loves it, too. She loved it so much that we're purchasing a package so we can continue to train together on weekends. Quality instruction isn't cheap, but this is definitely one of those things where "ya get what ya paid for" directly applies. Can you go some place else and take a cardio style kickboxing class for cheaper? Sure. Of course you can...but you're gonna spend more time doing drills that tire you out than you're going to spend on actual practical application for the fight game. I have no plans to enter the cage or the ring, but I like to train as if I were and Matt and his crew will make you think you'll some day be ready to get into the ring and do battle. Would I recommend this to other people? Abso-fuckin-lutely. Do yourself a favor and give Matt and his crew a shot. The only way you're going to regret doing a training session is if you cheese-dick it and you don't put forth the effort and strive to be a better fighter. read more
