While the food was great, as recommended by our tour guides, our experience with the waiter here was terrible and unacceptable. I'm not sure if he was in a bad mood or was racist, but he treated us very badly (stay tuned). It all started while we were in line waiting to be seated. We told him that we had 6-8 people, and that we were willing to split our group into two in order to make HIS job easier. However, he immediately and condescendingly told us to wait, while smirking in the rudest way you can imagine. However, we let it go. We tried to talk to him again a couple minutes later (we had finalized on 8 people). Before we could even talk to him, he smiled at us in that condescending way again. This was the beginning of a steep decline in customer service. The other waiters here were much more friendly and the way our waiter interacted with other guests was *much, much* nicer (we saw him interact with 4 or 5 more parties). So we split our party into half to make his job easier so he could seat us quicker and he wouldn't have to deal with seating a big party. Both of our groups' experiences ordering food mirrored the extremely rude and condescending attitude we received beforehand. Group 1 (4 people) : To preface, we were told by people walking out of the restaurant to order 1 dish for 2 people. So, when we were ordering for 4 people, we ordered 2 potato salads and 2 weinerschnitzels. Our waiter almost immediately responded with an extremely dismissive and rude look and said "Thats it?" It appeared that he rolled his eyes. To give him the benefit of the doubt, he may not have; but given his overall rude as shit attitude, I wouldn't be surprised. We then asked, "How long may this take?" To which he responded "Twenty or Fifteen minutes" It was loud, and we couldn't hear: he could have been saying 50, so we asked him if he said 50 or 15, to which he rolled his eyes and walked away. Group 2: they also received judgement for the amount of food they ordered. He commented that that wouldnt be enough--not in a friendly way, but in an extremely condescending way. He also got extremely upset over the fact that we had an empty water bottle outside. I would assume that one could say "could you please put that away as we dont allow that?" Instead he grumpily scolds "Put that water away!" When we clarified if we could take it outside, he turned around in middle of our sentence and walked away. I could go on forever about how rude he was and how bad he made us feel. We, at every level, gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was a nice person who was having a bad day. But for every extremely crappy interaction we had with him, we observed an extremely pleasant interaction with a non person of color (to name other possibilities, it could perhaps be locals vs. tourists, or those who pay more vs who pay less). Additionally, the other waiters were somewhat more decent to us. If the goal of this restaurant is to make people feel attacked, as outsiders, and like they don't belong, this restaurant has effortlessly accomplished this goal. Thank you for ruining your great food with the shittiest customer service I have ever seen in my entire life. I am never one to complain online, but this experience pushed me over the edge. Thank you! We dont want Herr Valdo's job to be affected, but the company should certainly invest in the time it would take to train waiters how to politely interact with their customers. read more
