Came here for a team dinner and loved the decor and the logo of the place. The staff were very friendly. 4/5 Beef ragot - meat was so tender and well flavored. Came with a spetzel but could've used more cheese 5/5 Schnapps - reminded me of apres ski but without the fruit There was a guy playing the piano for pie entertainment which gave it a nice vibe. Would def recommend.

I came here for lunch and enjoyed the stuffed artichoke, fried oyster mushrooms, and tafelspitz (boiled beef). Their version of tafelspitz had fried breadcrumbs on top of the beef and was served with an herbed bread pudding. I liked their take on it. While I enjoyed my lunch, I thought the prices were quite high for what I got (1 star off). The total came out to around €65, which included a bottle of water for €7.50. The wooden booths were uncomfortable. Not only were they hard to sit on, they were difficult to get in and out of if you were dining with a group. The wooden booths did add to the old Austrian gastropub charm though. Service was kind of hit-or-miss (1 star off). Our waiter started out nice, but became increasingly absent throughout the meal. At the end of the meal, we asked for split checks and he became visibly annoyed. He split the check randomly and unevenly (?) and we had to ask him to split it properly. This of course irritated him more. I didn't think our request was unreasonable. We could not have been the first group to ask for split checks.

One of our favorite meals in our entire 2 week trip through Eastern Europe! We stumbled upon this place after a small intimate Mozart concert that was at a monastery nearby. We saw the Michelin plaque in the window and decided to give it a shot--and we're SO glad we did! We walked in around 9 pm and were greeted by a friendly man who asked if we like live piano? Uhhh-of course! So he walked us to this cozy, intimate back room full of these adorable candlelit wooden booths where there was a live piano player and the rest is history! Of course, we ordered the schnitzel and potato salad with some Viennese beers. One of the best schnitzel we tried in Vienna! The servers are all dressed in traditional dirndls and lederhosen, which was a very cute touch. Such an incredible restaurant, it feels like you've stepped back in time. So glad we stumbled upon this place!!!!

Really good bread but be wary as we didn't order it and thought it was complimentary.

An enjoyable experience of good food and ambience, minus additional charges which I wasn't aware of. One less star for that. Be wary if served bread without ordering, and water is not free (more for American readers).

This restaurant was amazing! The service was great, everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable about the different wines of the region and helped provide recommendations. You can tell they really care about making sure their guests have a great experience. The interior was classic and cozy. I ordered the pork schnitzel and it was one of the best I had during my whole trip to Austria. The potato salad that comes on the side was also amazing! Still dreaming of this meal. Hopefully I can come back sometime.

Upscale neighbor restaurant without the upscale price! What an incredible find as we were strolling through the streets of Vienna. I must say that Zum weißen Rauchfangkehrer delivered on authentic Austrian flavor. Plus the portions were very generous! I recommend that you come hungry. The service was great! The venue/atmosphere was cozy and warm. I recommend you give them a try.

A Michelin Star restaurant that features unique Austrian fare with excellent service, our waiter worked at Daniel in NYC! The food is farm to table and you can taste the difference. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! A must try when you are in Vienna

Quaint Austrian restaurant with traditional dishes on a side cobbled street. Choose the piano room. Servers were polite and formal Austrian country dress. Carpaccio was delicious and the pork neck was the best choice. One of us had schnitzel and it was veal so very succulent. This place makes one want to sit in the warmth of Vienna forever. Recommend!

    The white chimney sweep

If you're looking for local fare with good atmosphere then the white chimney sweep is for you. Recommended by our hotel concierge, a short walk took us to this little treasure. We absolutely loved the traditional service costumes worn by the staff. We were warmly greeted and seated. The menu had traditional dishes, we tried 3, which we shared. Of the three we could not choose one we preferred. Nice touch, roasted pumpkin seeds and toothpicks, followed by 4 types of bread. Meal portions were adequate. We are not big meat eaters so our assessment of the rich veal was moderate. I would recommend based on the location and good atmosphere, the food was rich but ok.

    Smoked fish appetizer.

Wonderful meal and service in Vienna! Weeks later and the veal patties (highly recommend) are still top of mind! Beautiful interior and incredible wine selection! Go hungry and thirsty! Make a res for the piano room!

Well that was a heavenly night out…read more Our first restaurant meal in Vienna, so it had to be Wiener schnitzel. Perfect veal pieces with a perfectly golden, bubbled crumb, as large as our plate. Heaven. Potato salad - perfect; a little on the sweeter side. No mayo here, as it should be. Also, we were craving veg, so ordered the rucola salad. This being Austria, it was covered in ham and a sharp cheese. I'm not complaining The room had a simple, cozy cellar bar feel. It was a tad warm inside. Friendly service. Although I tried my best with German they also spoke excellent English. Drinks wise - hubby enjoyed the lager beer and I loved the Weiss gespritzt. At €3,90 a glass, I was happy! They were busy so recommend booking. Fantastic meal, highly recommend!

We ordered the Wiener Schnitzel, prepared in the traditional Viennese style, and it was amazing! The schnitzel was perfectly cooked and paired beautifully with their potato salad, which was also really good. We also tried the Tafelspitz, served with a flavorful beef broth and vegetables. It was hearty, fresh, and packed with flavor. Their house beer on tap was refreshing and went perfectly with the meal. But the real showstopper was dessert--the famous Kaiserschmarrn with apricot. These fluffy, shredded pancakes were absolutely divine, and the apricot added just the right amount of sweetness. Easily one of the highlights of the meal! Service was impeccable, and everything tasted fresh. I highly recommend making a reservation, especially because this is a small restaurant and it clearly has a strong following among locals. The atmosphere is lovely, with a neighborhood, non-touristy vibe that makes the experience feel authentically Viennese. If you're looking for delicious traditional Viennese specialties without the tourist-trap feel, definitely put Gasthaus Pöschl on your list!

This place was packed…read morewhen we arrived, as expected since it is one of the most well-known schnitzel spots in Vienna. I was worried this place was over-hyped and more of a place you have to "check off the list" than somewhere you want to eat because of the food. If you have any doubts like I did, forget about them because this was actually the best schnitzel we had on our trip! Their potato salad and tomato salads, also amazing! I had a reservation at 11:30am and there was already an insane line just to get in. Then once they opened the doors other groups of people completely ignore the line outside and just start rushing in. They're in absolutely no rush to seat you so don't have any hope that they'll let you in early. Once you're seated the service is pretty fast. The schnitzel is quite large and good for sharing. I had the original schnitzel with pork. It was thin and crispy but under seasoned in my opinion. The potato salad was the star for me I could have had one all to myself. It was creamy, a little sweet, and tangy. I also tried the soup with clear beef broth and sliced pancakes. Nothing memorable but a nice clean soup if you're in the mood.

We had a dinner reservation on an early September Sunday and were able to eat outside in the expansive garden area, which was prettily designed with lots of lighting and greenery. Our server was really nice, though it took a little while for her to come by initially. The pumpkin soup was a showstopper: creamy, nutty, and mildly sweet. I would order this again and again. The pierogis were also very good, doughy and yet airy, with a pillowy potato filling and served with caramelized onions and sour cream. The wine list, which even included a slew of natural and pet nat options, is the best I've seen in Austria so far. I love pet nats but haven't seen many Austrian offerings of the style, either in the country or abroad. Here, I tried a delicious Gelber Muskateller pet nat and also had a Zweigelt.

We chose the pork - delicious. Perfect potato salad, not too sweet. Goulash was yummy but a bit much in the main size. I should have ordered the small. The pork schnitzel was the standout - dlavorful, thin, golden. The goulash lacked some of the flavour and complexity of other goulashes I've had in the past in Austria and Hungary. Service was friendly. I tried my German but all the waiters spoke great English, and the menu had English translations at the back. Booking is recommended, you can book easily from their website. Pork Schnitzel + goulash + mixed salad + 1 beer + 1 Bellini was €50ish. Recommend the courtyard in good weather!
