This place hosts lots of activities, especially graduation parties, weddings to name a few. The parking lot is very accommodating and hall is huge.

Note: I left home at 12:30 pm....n should've left earlier...the event started at 10:00 am....so parking was full...although there were lots of side streets to park...non the less i noticed a bunch of people leaving ...walking near I side street...luckily I was blessed to have them leave right where we were searching!!..... There were med to long lines at the food booths...all of them looked yummy...I wanted seafood ....so there was the Kealoha Seafood booth....my choice was "Da Best" Ahi Katsu n Poke plate(ahi was fresh).....also chose a smaller plate " Shrimp Tempura and Noodles" gotta tell you...it was Blazing Ono...I'll be following them on Instagram so I can have those plates again!! *the cashier was awesome too! Such a great venue for parties, dances, events, etc. However I'm not to sure about the catering part, seems a bit complicated. I've been here several times, and haven't really gotten a chance to check in and write a review until now! Located right in the heart of Waipahu, the Filipino Community Center truly shows the community of Waipahu (at least most of it). A lot of events have taken place here, from college events, to high school performances. I personally feel like the decor could use a more lively aspect to it, however despite it being a community center, its decor brings us to some sort of spanish influenced town. The parking can be a little tricky for some people, since right behind it is another parking lot for YMCA. The FILCOM has two levels, the top floor is some offices and two ballrooms, that can be cut down the middle to separate them. They have a huge patio with tables along the sides, a small fountain, and in the center is a stage. Of all the times i've been here I have yet to be disappointed with the venue in its self. However I would wish for it to have more life to it, more color please!!!

    Courtyard. Pretty and scenic.

Wow! Impressive venue. I've passed this place dozens of times but last night was the first time I attended an event. First off, there was ample free parking for our group of over 300 people. I live in town and hate having to pay for parking in Waikiki for big parties. Also, there is a lot less traffic out here so it is easy to get to. This was for a late "holiday" party because we did not book timely enough to have one before January 1st. The courtyard was a welcoming entrance and set the mood for our event. The staff was attentive and had our food set out on time and was quick to remove used plates and glasses. The bathrooms were impeccably clean. This is a dull review, but that is the point. We booked a party and everything went off without a hitch. We'll be back here again!

It's sad to see a bunch of 1-star reviews from anonymous profiles based off of 1 terrible party experience, so I feel compelled to share my positive experience. We celebrated my goddaughter's 1st birthday this past weekend, and this venue pulled out all the stops for her celebration. The venue owners did all the decorations and did a spectacular job! As soon as I walked into the venue, I was transported to Hello Kitty land (which was the theme for her party lol) They set up all the tables and chairs with linens that matched the party theme colors. And the dessert table set-up was all taken care of, all we (my best friend, her family and the rest of us party decorating committee) had to do was set up the centerpieces and party favors. It definitely took a lot of stress off of us and we were able to relax before the party started. The venue itself is very well maintained and aesthetically appealing with clean & well-stocked restrooms. Parking is a little tight but I believe overflow parking was available near the plaza with Nanding's bakery. They even had parking attendants working that night and ample signage that lead guests where to park. I was told that they offered à la carte services, such as the Photo Booth, so this business is a real one-stop shop. Overall we had an amazing time and the night went by so fast but so smoothly. The best part was we didn't have to stay behind to clean up, the staff at Kabayan took care of all of that!

We managed to use (20) 72x30" tables to fit 12-13 chairs on each long table. It was nice. It didn't feel crowded. There was still a lot of room in the back and in the front. Pros: -fenced outdoor courtyard (great for the kids, no bounce castles though) -full kitchen -parking -AC Cons: -you're responsible for cleaning up after your event If you're contemplating where to have your event, the question really is how much you're willing to spend. This place will be more budget friendly than having your event at a hotel of course. You just have to weigh your options.

We attended a graduation party for a family member on 6/01/24 from 5PM to 8PM. It was our first time visiting this facility. As previous yelpers have mentioned, it is best to use your GPS to get there. It is off the freeway but in the Royal Kunia subdivision, past the Wal-Mart on Kunia Rd. Once you exit Kunia Rd, it can be tricky since the street signs are hard to read so GPS is your best bet. It is easy to find & you can't miss the building once you're on the street it's on since it is on the corner. There is a park next to it and across the street is an empty lot on one side & a golf course on the other side. The parking lot was good-sized as well of plenty of street parking. Even though it was next to a huge park, the venue is surrounded by a white fence for privacy. The facility itself is a beautiful venue to hold a celebration - nice surroundings, modern building, a/c, clean bathrooms by the entrance, & kitchen facility. The manager, Michelle, was also very nice, assisting guests & answering any questions they had. The tables & chairs were set up to seat about a 100 people. There were probably about 80 but the room itself was comfortable enough to not feel over-crowded plus they had a live band up front & a small area for dancing. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience at this venue.

Over 35 years…read more That's the amount of time it took for me to come to Hawaii Okinawa Center (HOC). Opened in June 1990, HOC was built in recognition of the Okinawan immigrants to Hawaii. Born and raised in Hawaii, there is a strong Okinawan community celebrating many events. Although some may think of the distance to this venue, it's a little over 25 mins from town. I recently came to HOC to celebrate a relative's wedding. I was quite impressed with this venue as it's quite spacious with multiple entrances. Although 35 years have passed the interior was simple but bright for this joyous occasion. Food, drinks and entertainment were all arranged by the families so you get to select the theme and create the atmosphere you wish. It was a casual wedding reception that was able to facilitate about 400 people. It was a Hawaiian themed menu where the buffet line was controlled by the steward who escorted attendees by tables. Venue was large enough to have multiple stations providing food, dessert, drinks and entertainment. I initially was planning to partake in the photo booth but the lines were too long so I ended up passing. So why not 5-stars? The venue could have been updated more for a more modern vibe. Also, the parking lot cannot accommodate large scale events so regardless we arrived before the event, many of us had to seek street parking and then walk over. Overall, I found HOC a fairly decent venue for a get together. I wouldn't hesitate to RSVP to another event at this spot. The drive over from town is tolerable and once again, a great facility to bring people together for an occasion.

Tis the season for graduation parties......falalalala...lalalala…read more..... I attended yet another graduation party this past weekend at this venue. The Hawaii Okinawan Center is located in Waipio Gentry and is easily found by either traveling on Kam Highway or the H-2 Freeway. However, I would probably recommend a route via Kam Hwy for convenience reasons. The party I attended was in the Legacy II ballroom, of which the entrance faces the parking lot. I later discovered that the Legacy Ballroom is actually 1 huge ballroom, and it was divided into 2 separate areas on this evening as another party was taking place in the other half. Incidentally, the side where the other party was taking place was larger and had a stage as well. Although the portion of the ballroom where our party was held was much smaller, I liked the high ceilings so there was the illusion that the room was slightly big and grand. I believe there were about 18 tables (seating for 10) set up for the party, but since this section was smaller, there wasn't much room to have more tables set up if the need arose. Food and drinks were provided by A Catering Experience, which (from what I was told later that evening) is the catering division if Zippy's. The food served to guests at the party included Chinese chicken salad, assorted fruits, rice, noodles, fried chicken, roast pork, mahimahi, and adobo (which most of us thought it was sweet and sour pork). Besides water, fruit punch (very watery!), coffee, and tea was also provided. Lastly, the banquet staff was very gracious, polite, and kind. I was very impressed with the attentiveness of the staff that night, and their quality service contributed to a wonderful evening spent with friends and family. PARKING: FREE parking available in the HI Okinawa Center lot. First come first serve. Bottom Line: Clean venue. FREE and ample parking.
