Flores de Mayo Filipino Fiesta... A celebration of culture is held at the Filipino Community Center a place that I've never been and happy to have a chance to see the festivities and events that embrace the Filipino culture that with scheduled conflict I almost can never make it though this year as I did have the time off took full advantage of the situation and what a fun filled day it was. In the lot and down the street is filled with food trucks and various vendors offering all types of foods from halo halo to a full plate lunch has my taste buds going into overdrive and didn't know where to begin. I did ended up starting with items from the Filipino Street Food tent as the event was just getting started so much so that some of the items weren't ready yet so it was the Hot Dog and Longanisa as I dove into my yummy meaty choices was hearty bite of deliciousness I moved out to the street and got the Halo Halo from the Halo Halo Place and got their "The Halo Halo" as it was voted the best Halo Halo topped with a scoop of ube ice cream is a light and refreshing treat and see why it's the favorite. To then Corn Onoz Hawaii with their Cheeto Z as it's coated with the vibrant and full of kick Flamin Hot Cheetos with Mahalo as their finishing sauce on top was too cute and creative :) along with entertainment it was indeed a festive event that I'm so glad to have experienced. Five stars. Had a Christmas party here in the main hall. The parking lot was spacious and free parking. The interior courtyard area was nice and clean. The main hall was very nice and huge! The overall facility was superb. The food was catered out, I believe, so it'll be separate from this review. It was excellent anyway though. Service and ambiance was epic too! read more

A wonderful time at the Filipino Community Center Spring Event .......on Saturday May7, 2023!! Amazing Food trucks and tents....various crafters....informational booths....games....songs, entertainment..and the highlight was a beautiful sunny day filled with families enjoying themselves!!!..... Note: I left home at 12:30 pm....n should've left earlier...the event started at 10:00 am....so parking was full...although there were lots of side streets to park...non the less i noticed a bunch of people leaving ...walking near I side street...luckily I was blessed to have them leave right where we were searching!!..... There were med to long lines at the food booths...all of them looked yummy...I wanted seafood ....so there was the Kealoha Seafood booth....my choice was "Da Best" Ahi Katsu n Poke plate(ahi was fresh).....also chose a smaller plate " Shrimp Tempura and Noodles" gotta tell you...it was Blazing Ono...I'll be following them on Instagram so I can have those plates again!! *the cashier was awesome too! We also checked out the new Kaiser Permanente Health Mobile....awesome staff! Beautiful brand new Health Mobile!! Aloha Kaiser Permanente!! Such a great venue for parties, dances, events, etc. However I'm not to sure about the catering part, seems a bit complicated. I've been here several times, and haven't really gotten a chance to check in and write a review until now! Located right in the heart of Waipahu, the Filipino Community Center truly shows the community of Waipahu (at least most of it). A lot of events have taken place here, from college events, to high school performances. I personally feel like the decor could use a more lively aspect to it, however despite it being a community center, its decor brings us to some sort of spanish influenced town. The parking can be a little tricky for some people, since right behind it is another parking lot for YMCA. The FILCOM has two levels, the top floor is some offices and two ballrooms, that can be cut down the middle to separate them. They have a huge patio with tables along the sides, a small fountain, and in the center is a stage. Of all the times i've been here I have yet to be disappointed with the venue in its self. However I would wish for it to have more life to it, more color please!!! read more

Wow! Impressive venue. I've passed this place dozens of times but last night was the first time I attended an event. First off, there was ample free parking for our group of over 300 people. I live in town and hate having to pay for parking in Waikiki for big parties. Also, there is a lot less traffic out here so it is easy to get to. This was for a late "holiday" party because we did not book timely enough to have one before January 1st. The courtyard was a welcoming entrance and set the mood for our event. The staff was attentive and had our food set out on time and was quick to remove used plates and glasses. The bathrooms were impeccably clean. This is a dull review, but that is the point. We booked a party and everything went off without a hitch. We'll be back here again! read more

The day I had to attend class for my current workplace I originally thought it was going to be held at the Waipahu Civic Center until I called my manager and she informed me that the class was held at the Filipino Community Center. I walked it from the Waipahu Civic Center to the Filipino Community Center. When I arrived at the FilCom Center all I seen were offices on the ground floor and the elevator going to the second floor. I was not informed what room number the class will be in so I called my manager again and she said "When you enter the villa from the parking lot the conference room will be the first room on your left hand side. You will see all the employees in their uniforms.". I'm getting my exercise done for the day...I had to walk all the way around until I see the parking lot. I enter the villa for the first time and noticed how spacious and beautiful with the water fountain near by. I seen tables and chairs along the left and right side of the villa. There was the vending machines for snacks and drinks for individuals who want to purchase. I noticed that the second level also had the conference rooms and the restrooms for the men and women. I walked into the assigned conference room for the class and noticed how spacious the conference room is and beautiful rugs. There were several rows of chairs set up for the employees to sit down plus the projector and overhead screen. I quickly scanned the room to see my fellow co-workers and spotted one of the corporate office employees so I can sign in for class. Employees who showed up for class had to listen to the changes of the benefits that the company has to offer. Medical benefits, dental benefits, 401k investments, life insurance, as well as the number of sick leaves and vacation time an employee is allowed to take during the calendar year. After getting all the information of changes to the benefits then it was class time. The class was on how to recognize harassment whether it be verbal or sexual. There was a test on the harassment with 10 questions. Individuals who pass with 80% or better are allowed to continue working for the company. Those who fail would have to retake the class and pass the test. The company now has zero tolerance on harassment in the workplace. The Filipino Community Center conference rooms are not only a place to hold meetings but it is also a place where individuals can hold first birthday parties, retirement parties, wedding receptions, as well as get togethers for the holidays. So if you have an upcoming event that's in the works the Filipino Community Center will be the right place for you depending on how many individuals are attending the event. read more

This is a good, decent sized hall. you may throw parties here or events to your liking. the hall can fit around 300 people i believe or something around that number lol they have AC and it is carpeted. very neat & well put together. parking is right outside the building and they also have an extra space outside of the area also where there's extra tables and stuff to hang around. Filipino Community Center We had a VFW in Chicago where I used to grow up. Super fond memories- like when there was a Santa before the malls even started having Santa, and since it was cold they would give free hot cocoa and big peppermint sticks and it was really a community neighborhood gathering place for not only Christmas but for even weddings for those on a really tight budget and a normal watering hole. Why do I bring this up? The Filipino Community Center fills that same void missing from corporate American culture. Where do you have the most memories from? Where do you have the most fond memories from? Is it from the mall cell phone shops or is it from a community meeting hall where some of the most earliest events took place that you can remember being a part of the community with? Weddings, birthdays, holidays..... those are the best kind of memoires where you have a sense of place and belonging - IMHO. I've had different meetings from grant writing workshops, to non-profit meetings to Church conferences to yes- big baby keiki birthday parties at the Filipino Community Center. People enjoy having great food, folks and fun and that place has an abundance of those for different events. It is far enough out of Honolulu but close enough for almost anyone on island to be able to attend an event. Parking and location are easy enough to get. It really is a good location for a central meeting place here on Oahu. And the facilities are nice. read more

Ugh, just when it had to be a party for my sister EVERYTHING goes bad & NOT on schedule! With all the other functions my Fam. & I have been to, they were splendid...so why were things ruined? I wanted everything to be perfect for my sister! It was her Debut & Graduation Party! No Manager of the facility was around at all, no help whatsoever!!! It was frustrating, hella' frustrating! I mean, with all the questions we had of things that went wrong, no help was given!!! Like why? You know nothing about this damn place & you 'MANAGE' it? Pathetic. NEVER AGAIN are we having a party here, nor will I recommend it to anyone, even though they still to choose to do so. Such a waste of time & hella' money. I'm glad my sister had her fun though, I mean it was her party & she didn't have to worry about a thing, just to go w/ whatever flowed through schedule. My Mom & I were stressed from beginning to end! We're even STILL disappointed til' this day. My sister's party was help on Aug. 01, 2010. Mhm. read more

Textbook example of planning for the community. The design, location and the functions at this event hall all reflect what the community needs. I have been here for several community events over the holidays, and each time, I felt as welcomed as being in a friend's home yet elevated by the elegance of the venue. Many of the details, including designing for the slight slope of the hill, suggest that it was a collaborative effort that examined every detail, from the open courtyard to the numerous stalls in the bathrooms. read more

If you want everything to go right at your party, the Filcom is the venue. We celebrated my mom's 80th last week with almost 200 guests. The food was presented so elegantly and tasted amazing. The prime rib was cooked to perfection. My Executive Chef brother even gave his stamp of approval. David Webb of Creations in Catering made sure everything was perfect and accommodated all of our needs. "Tuloy po kayo!" The Filipino community center is Oahus premier Filipino American gathering place. During the day time, this is a very welcoming place. If you are just cruising around Waipahu and want to go to a place to chill and hang out or perhaps look at some nice architecture, this is the spot. The FilCom is primarily know for people to book the facilities that it had here where to hold just about any type of event. The most common booked facility is the ballroom of course. I have been coming to this venue ever since 2004 when I started involved in the Filipino community. I have come here with multiple identities; as an organizer, guest, visitor, perfomer, etc. The FilCom courtyard area is really nice but it can get really hot and bright during a sunny day so make sure to watch out for that. There are a number of table and seating areas surrounding the courtyard. If you ever need to find out whatever is happening in the Filipino community, this is the place. Sometimes I feel that not too many local Filipino Americans take advantage of this place. Anyways, the staff here are wonderful and they are sure to answer any question that you may have whether it's wanting to book a facility for an event or finding out what's the next big event at the FilCom. Aside from your typical private events like birthdays and weddings, the FilCom does host their own events organized from different community members like Ballroom dancing, Zumba, citizenship classes, computer classes, and many more. read more

I came here for an MMA event and it was good. There is enough space, some chairs (you have to come early or be VIP or else you have to stand). There are good bathrooms and security. Unfortunately you have to eat outside and no alcohol. Parking is small, but you can park in the ymca and shopping center north of the center for mma events (other events and hours maybe not). You can pretty much park on the street and walk there since it's by a residential area. I'll definitely be back for the next mma event. Don't think about causing trouble here because there are plenty of bored cops outside. read more

Definitely wouldn't want to rent from them anymore or recommend them to anyone. Rates keep going up monthly and they don't set it up. They make you set up the room. Found a much better venue that is bigger and cheaper and the people running things are honest and are there to help. read more

It was a very expensive rental and not worth it. The venue wasn't ready when we had arrived to the venue so we were sweating before AC was finally turned on. Bathrooms were locked. Place wasn't clean as well. They charge so much but they don't do anything. It wasn't set up and they had us break things down. Then they try to charge you for extra stuff. Deposit also took long to be returned. Won't be renting this place ever again or recommending it to anyone anytime soon. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more
