Today's visit was because of the MAKAHIKI festival which my sons Cornwall and Hula Halal had performed for today. Aside of the activities for the MAKAHIKI festival, the performance was awesome. Being that they did a lot on their own by themselves for the first time they did well. HOWEVER, to hold an event & to utilize these facilities, you must have MILITARY CONNECTIONS. OF COURSE, Public access is available to civilians, but with LIMITED ACCESS to the beachfront & shores ONLY. Civilians are NOT ALLOWED to use or rent the facilities. I asked the CITY & COUNTY and they said this place IS NOT on their list & as far as for the STATE, they said they have no rental information on these facilities. So... that means... it's through MILITARY OFFICIALS ONLY! To be honest, I'm SURE military will say it's because this is "PEARL HARBOR", where their military is located, they have to take precautions to whom has access to the area. WHICH FOR ME, KINDA SUCKS because this place WAS once where my kupunas (older aunts & uncles) used swim & look for oyesters for food & pearls for jewelry/decorations, WAAY before the HARBOR was built for the military and now... a grandniece of theirs, a KANAKA, has LIMITED access to the area. As a civilian... we're FORBIDDEN from using "THEIR FACILITY". Doesn't really seem fair, doesn't it?! But that's the so called RULES. let's hope in due time there is a way to allow civilians the use of this area WITHOUT military connections. Anywho, if you have a chance to rent this spot, GO FOR IT!!!! And be sure to TAKE CARE OF THE PLACE TOO! Just because military has the say over this area, doesn't mean we should destroy or ruin the property itself. It is still OUR AINA! And Regardless if your ARE KANAKA OR NOT, just treat this place as if it was YOUR OWN HOME. And if you MISTREAT it and say that's how you'd treat your own home, then I can only imagine how embarrassed your parents must feel to have raised such a sloppy individual. POOR THING, YOU... SAD... Rehearsal and day of wedding I had Kat helping me. She was a breath of fresh air, intuitive and kept people on a schedule. She helped me feel calm and that everything was in order. Day of the wedding we also had Kim helping and she brought a great energy and made sure I had a drink in my hand at all times. Also the male servers were very kind and proactive. (I wish I knew their names.) I appreciate how nice and accommodating the staff was to my dog Chili. He loved being apart of our special day I'm very happy he was able to be there. The food was insane, the drinks were tasty, and the atmosphere was incredible. It smelled so amazing and we had great weather. There's not a bad spot on the property to take photographs. I can't wait to see my photos I took behind the pond in the greenery. I'm very glad I picked this venue for my wedding. The staff did us a solid and boxed up some food for my husband and I and we ate it right after we left. That was really cool of them. The catered food on the wedding day was better than the food we had at the restaurant when we tried out the place before the wedding. Multiple guests praised how delicious the food was, and I tried them myself on the day of, and I can confirm they are delicious. Morgan and team on the day of orchestrated the timeline very well. The ceremony venue was gorgeous in April. It mattered because every photo taken looked beautiful.

The Japanese company owned chapel is kept in immaculate condition as well as the property grounds surrounding it. The company can accommodate smaller groups for the reception portion as well, but because of our larger head count we opted to hold the reception at a hotel in Waikiki. It was a bit of a drive for everyone to commute to and from Waikiki for the reception, but otherwise overall it was a great option and we would definitely do it again if we could.

We were grateful to have our immediate family members with us with the people restriction and Moana was graciously able to fly over to Kaua'i for us so we could follow through with our special day. She listened to all my asks and respectfully listened to my family's wishes as well and blended everything so effortlessly. Moana can do it all, just tell her what your wants are and she'll do whatever she can to make your special day come true, mind you during our wedding day, she was pregnant with her third child, bless her and all her sons. She is easy to get ahold of, understanding of our needs, and helpful with other referrals as well. Friendly and incredibly sweet! We also hired AE Love You Events to include a local dance performance at our reception. My guests and I loved every moment! Talented musicians and dancers who made the evening all the more special. My husband and I are from two different countries and we love to travel. It was amazing for us and our guests to include elements of the Hawaiian culture during our wedding ceremony so we could further appreciate our surroundings. Great place for a party…read more This is a spacious and beautiful location on the AF side of the base. The facility has a full fridge and working deep sink. There are a couple or outlets if you want to bring a radio or rice cooker ;) And you can't have rice without having some kind of meat. There's two stationary grills on property. The trash is taken out by management when you turn the keys back in and pick up your deposit. I believe the deposit is $250. There are bathrooms in the back. No porta potties thank God. No real flying creatures to stanch your food and plenty of fresh air. You will get the occasional roar of a plane engine since the runway is close by and sometimes you see a naval ship just off the coast heading out or doing maneuvers. Overall five stars. The scenery is beautiful and he can't beat the price. M

Foster Point Peninsula on Hickam AFB is the absolute worst place for a picnic lunch! Please don't…read morego there. It is so ugly! It is surrounded on three sides by pristine azure waters... YUCK! You can see the skyline of Honolulu and the silhouette of Diamond Head... so horrific! Nearby sail boats gently rock to small waves on the aforementioned pristine azure waters... you do not want to see this! There is no comfortable place to sit and eat. There are only maybe a dozen clean tables from which to choose: some in the shade, some in the sun, and some are under a pavilion to use in the unlikely event it rains during your picnic... Don't take the chance! Today during lunch (well, for the first few minutes) I had to share the peninsula with one other picnicker. Sure he was like 40 yards away, but you shouldn't have to put up with this! And the wind! Today it was so blustery that it threatened to blow my napkin off the table... not once, but TWICE! Oh and it is so noisy... did I mention the sail boats and the waves? Well, they're not silent, ya know! They make this monotonous "lap-lap-lap" sound that might drive you crazy! And you'd be dining only a couple miles from the airport. So as you watch the lumbering jets lift off gracefully into the sky, you can actually hear them. .. It's horrendous! It so far out of the way! It takes minutes and minutes (maybe as many as five) to drive out there from the base proper.... Don't waste your valuable time! So in short, take my advice: Do not put up with ugliness, then uncomfortable conditions, the noisiness, and the long long ride out to Foster Point Peninsula for a picnic lunch! It's just not worth it. But if you do, you'll likely see me there enjoying my picnic lunch; and if you do, feel free to wave. But try to keep your 40 yards separation! ;-)

This is a dear former colleague of mine where I saved the date. When I formally received the invitation I saw the venue and asked myself "Where is that?" Oahu Veterans Center (OVC) is a conveniently located venue in the Salt Lake area which has 2 large halls to host gatherings. They are adjacent to ample parking where it was super crowded that day but the grounds were marked to facilitate overflow of cars for those who arrived later. It was my first time here at OVC where I found the venue spacious, clean and the grounds well kept. I initially went to the wrong party as I didn't know there are several halls here. While standing in line I realized it was for a high school graduation party which clearly wasn't the event I was invited to. I made my way to the other hall where I saw a large banner with my friend's name. There's a kitchen that's adjoining to the hall. Food that evening was catered by Guieb Cafe. Our meal was buffet style where the kitchen sure came in handy with food being replenished periodically throughout the event. It was warm outside that day but the venue has decent air conditioning where we sat down in comfort throughout the event during dinner, slide show and hula performances. Overall, a great first time at OVC where I'd be game for a return visit. This is definitely a venue I'd consider if I wanted to host an event.

This one is located in the salt lake area and the name is Oahu Veterans Center the other off sand island is the Disabled Veterans Center. We were surprised when we got there it has a park and large parking area. The hall is air conditioned and the hall was clean with large restrooms located outside of the hall. They brought in their own food and pupu and they had shave ice, pop corn, cotton candy, pork hash and full bar! Restroom was clean and handicap accessible.
