    Fit for a King Pizza
    Isaac J.

One of the top pizza places in san diego ! I actually prefer this location the best out of all of them in San Diego. This location has been established since the 1950's and still hasnt disappointed ! The atmosphere is very Italian like. It has the traditional red and white checker tablecloth on the tables. Theres also a bunch of bottles hanging from the ceiling which show peoples names and families as well. I love how their pizza is slapped with cheese on top of all the toppings. Very cheesy pizza and they do not skip out on the toppings. I ordered the fit for a king pizza . It comes with Cheese, Sausage, Mushroom, Pepperoni, Black Olive, Bell Pepper & Onion. All the ingredients taste fresh ! The tomato sauce is very fresh ! Its sweet but also has that nice tangy tomato taste. The antipasta salad was also very refreshing. The cheese and salami combo in addition with the salad is very good ! The service was exceptional and our server was very attentive. Will definitely be coming back here !

I only went for the pizza. The pizza is thick and not floppy. It is delicious! Best pizza in town. I had pizza for breakfast the next day and lunch. We also ordered a side salad & they brought warm bread with it that was delicious too. The service was friendly. There was plenty of parking and the restaurant seemed pretty full for a Wednesday evening. It was definitely a family restaurant. Everyone was there with their family. I'm definitely going back for the PIZZA!!!

A long time family favorite place, decided to just get some pizza and pasta on our movie night at home. Definitely comfort food, filling but flavorful.

on this "half and half" was 6 and 10 slices instead of 8 and 8

The parking was plentiful unlike going to downtown or Hillcrest, or North Park, or Convoy. We went early enough where we didn't have to deal with a crowded restaurant. We started off with our obligatory Old Fashioneds which were delicious. Wifey then got a Oaxacan Old Fashioned which was also delicious. As far as food we started with their calamari which also included some shrimp and a nice cocktail sauce. The calamari and shrimp were very nicely fried and had very nice flavor. For our mains I got the carbonara and wife got lasagna. Both dishes were cooked very well and were yummy. We had a great time tonight at Garbatella and will definitely return.

My wife had the Lobster Ravioli , and I had the Spaghetti Bolognese. Both dishes were absolute garbage. Chef Boyardee out of a can would taste much better than the Spaghetti Bolognese. I'm gonna refrain from commenting on the Lobster Ravioli dish. I motioned to my server to come to the table since she wasn't paying very little attention to our table the whole meal. When she finally came to the table, I handed her my dish and I told her this is terrible and she looked at me with a deer in the headlights stare. I said take it off the bill and she left. Didn't even ask me if I cared for something else or talk to a manager or whatever like good customer service would do. Do not dine in here. There are way better places.

We have found ourselves very irritable at lunchtime in our office because we have been ordering the same old lunches for years...one of us for 24 years! We sent one of the owners of the company I work for out on a mission to find new lunch spots. This is how we found Dolci! We ordered 6 different items to share so that we could try several items. Grande Lasagna Bolognese, Americana Pizza, Italian Fest Panini, Fettuccine Cartoccio, Dolci Chicken Mac & Cheese and Penne Michealangelo. Every single item was so delicious. The flavors were rich and the portions were generous! It gave the feeling of FINALLY being satisfied with lunch which we have not had in a very long time! We all agreed we needed a nap after lunch because we stuffed ourselves in the most gluttonous manner! The only problem is that we were so stuffed no one wanted to get back to work! We are very pleased with the quality of ingredients, the order being ready on time and even after driving 15-20 minutes back to the office the food was still hot! Thank you Dolci! We look forward to ordering again with you in the very near future!

Opening the door we were greeted with the old school charm of a restaurant that has been around for over 50 years. Our server was delightful and very fast. In fact the entire staff had a warm energetic family feel. And, happily we beat the rush giving us the ability to hear each other and take our time enjoying the meal. Dad and I started with the chicken tortellini soup which was a little too salty for us. Tortellini was slightly overcooked making it flowery and missing meat or cheese. Mom's house salad was ok. She did comment on being disappointed in the oil served with it. Our appetizer was shrimp scampi. This was good, full of flavor. Shrimp was slightly overcooked giving it a semi rubbery edge. On to the entrees. They were huge! I had lasagna. I think when you see it delivered in a sea of sauce you need to be a bit wary. The sauce was spicy, as it should be. Noodles were thick and prominent . Sadly that left little to no room for my favorite part - cheese and meat which were limited. Dad gave the manicotti a try which was ok. Mom had eggplant parmesan, one of her favs. Her sauce was a little bit tart. Eggplant was a nice moist and tender slice with just the right amount of cheese. She loved how the strands of spaghetti wrapped around her fork so she could dip it into the sauce without a spoon. Yup, she really liked the Pasta. Overall she felt it was a nice Italian meal. Very popular spot as it filled up before 6pm and a party of 30 was expected! You can see it's a neighborhood

We got the fresh homemade bread, polpettine, insalate venere, linguine, and lasagna. The herb infused dip for the bread was delicious, and the bread came warm wrapped in a towel. The polpettine was my favorite appetizer, the meat was so tender and delicious and paired perfectly with the whipped ricotta. I appreciated the olives and onions in the dish as well, and the sauce was great with the bread. Our server was extremely kind and offered to split the salad for us. My boyfriend loved the salad and loved the pairing of the greens, goat cheese, and walnuts together. He got the lasagna for the main and noted that there were about 12 layers beautifully stacked upon one another. My linguine was delicious and packed with seafood which was cooked perfectly. The texture of the linguine was delicious and seemed home made. Overall the food and service were excellent. I'm so glad I found a gem near my home and will be back to try more of the menu.

At first glance, it appeared I didn't get double pepperoni but after eating a piece or two there was some meat presumably pepperoni underneath all the cheese. I wasn't sure because it was bland like salami, definitely not spicy like you'd expect pepperoni to be and it definitely wasn't the small round pieces that were on top. What I'm saying is the pizza was bland I even had to add some salt to give it flavor. Very little flavor came from the pepperoni. This sucked because that's exactly why I ordered DOUBLE pepperoni. The other issue I had was they mixed the mushrooms in with the cheese rather than on top. As a result, the moisture from the shrooms made the pizza soggy. If they put the shrooms on top it would've been a different story The staff were nice but not very attentive. Those who walked past me assumed someone else helped me when in fact nobody was helping me so I basically got ignored. Someone finally asked if I've been helped and took my order. After waiting for 30 minutes my pizza was done and put out under the warmer as I stood there. There was nobody around and it literally took over 5 minutes or so for someone to walk by and I stopped them to ask if I can have my pizza, right there, on the pick up counter. He tried to find someone and that someone finally came out and gave me my food. The place was clean and nice looking overall. Plenty of indoor seating plus patio seating. The night I came there was a concert going on in the park right next to the place which made parking next to impossible so keep that in mind. YMMV. To close, I'm still looking for a place to call my home for pizza. Maybe I should be trying dedicated pizza joints rather than at Italian restaurants
