I think this place deserves more attention! Ok, so my husband and I recently moved over to Spring Valley/ Casa de Oro area. While out for work we stopped here just out of curiosity. We've always seen it and it looks like no big deal on the outside and once inside same thing. Simple, clean and functional! HOWEVER, the food and the service were some of the best I've had in a while. The server we had was hilarious and incredibly helpful and attentive. And I know this will sound outrageous to some but they are serving up some of the best pizza in town. Like seriously! The crispy and crunchy crust, the toppings and cheese perfectly balanced. I absolutely love their Chicken Pesto pizza! 100/10! I will say this place is easy to miss and incredibly unsuspecting but it has easily become one of our favorites for a pizza night or some comfort pasta dish. Nothing fancy just plain and simple delicious food. Give it a try! You just might like it! read more

I was so stoked on the quality of the food until the woman working in here did this to my food... she had maroon hair blue eyes lots of makeup perhaps the owner? I asked her for a to go box since I only ate half of my lasagna plate. She took the liberty to box it herself and while she was doing so I asked her to please include the two spats of wrapped butter she had given me with the bread. She gave me a strange look and hucked them in the bag at least I thought she had. She actually hucked them INSIDE of the box where my lasagna was! How disgusting to throw the wrapped butter on top of my lasagna. Disrespectful and mean. While she hucked it I remember her glaring at me with a cruel look on her face but I brushed it off and cut her slack. Wow. Quaint little place. Not what you would expect with the photos on the site. Whoever there photographer was, did a wonderful job. My Chef and I came out for Italian food and found this location which was very close to our location for the restaurant with a different flavor of flare. Both dishes were full of flavors w/ the place of the meal correct. Thank you, for the meal. Went here with the family, Id never been here. We were welcomed when we arrived and told to sit where we liked. We chose our table and were given menus. We all decided what to order. The waitress was really nice got us our beverages and took our order. The pizza came out in great timing. The toppings are on the bottom and cheeses are on top. Very authentic, and full of flavor. We all really enjoyed the food, its got good seating and its clean and welcoming. I definitely recommend this place. Prices are fair for what you recieve and parking in the back. This is a true neighborhood gem with amazing food! As you walk up, you can smell the roasting garlic and fresh bread. Inside is casual, lots of tables for any size party. We were greeted right away with menus and water, and ordered a carafe of Chianti while we looked over the menu. We decided on stuffed shells with spinach and penne with meat sauce and meatballs. Their red sauce is excellent and really makes the dishes shine. The stuffed shells were loaded with spinach and ricotta, topped with more sauce and a perfectly browned layer of cheese. Absolutely delicious. The meatballs were tender, flavorful, and of course tasted great with that sauce. The meal also came with a basket of their fresh bread, crusty on the outside and fluffy inside. We haven't tried the pizza yet, but judging from the aroma, it must be fantastic. If you are in the neighborhood, be sure to check this place out. I highly recommend it. read more

Went here on a Friday night and was surprised to see how busy it was. There were a mix of crowds ordering their food to go and most tables were occupied. My husband and I are glad to see customers supporting Gaetanos. Been here several times before and this establishment definitely deserves a review. Menu has a wide selection of Italian dishes from pizza, antipasti, cacciatore, calzones, and many more. They also serve cold delicious beers on tap and a wine selection is also available. We decided to order chicken cacciatore which comes with a side of pasta and our favorite, gnocchi alla giuseppe. They also bring bring hot bread to your table. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. The interior of the restaurant is clean, casual and relaxing. Plenty of parking available and it's never been an issue in all the times we have been here. Support this joint if you happen to be in the area. It's worth a try especially gnocchi alla giuseppe. I have been eating this pizza for over 30 years. The ambiance inside is authentic. The smell when you walk in is memorable filled with cooking dough, and cheese. It is our families favorite pizza hands down. The AntiPasti is always on point. The pizza has been a 10 out of 10 as long as I can remember. We tried this restaurant several times. The food is good, but the service and staff is not great. We showed up with a party of 7 and one of the servers huffed and said she wouldn't wait in us. Another time I called to ask about being there when they opened with my flag football team, and I was told they would not accommodate our group because they don't have enough space for 16 people and that we would take up too much room. I asked what would happen if we showed up and took our chances without a reservation and I was told they would not accommodate us. A great place to take care of one's Italian food cravings. The pizza is great and I like the crust just the way it is. We ordered the pizza with shrimp and I can't recall the name of the exact dish, it was delicious and passed my date's taste taste. I ordered the vodka penne pasta with sausage on the side. Service was great! Food was amazing! Good pricing. But what really truly impressed me was the family friendly atmosphere. We braved a night out with two 2 year olds and one 4 year old.... One of the children started losing it, so my sister promptly ushered her outside to quiet her. Called in to order an uncooked lasagna party tray, the lady on the other end was rude and seemed highly annoyed; I should have just hung up and went elsewhere, but this place was recommended by family. The day of pick up, I walked in, (first time here BTW) I get my order after being interrogated whether it was a pick up order or a catering order ‍ No instructions on how to cook it, I start asking those questions, what temp should this be cooked at? How long should I cook this? Etc She has the dumbest look on her face, I'm like 350, 400??! She's goes "uh huh " sure, like I'm answering my own questions here ‍‍‍ I walked out midway. Please, Please work on the customer service here. If you can't work on your attitude, just work in the back where you don't have to deal with customers, you clearly hate your job here! Best eggplant parmigiana anywhere. Stuffed shells were good as was the shrimp scampi. Combo torpedo needs help. It tasted fine but (as an Italian who knows how to make a damn good torpedo sandwich) , they just threw big chunks of lettuce on it to where you couldn't even close the bread to pick the sandwich up. I ordered a medium pizza, on one.side it was mushrooms (under the cheese), and fresh basil and ricotta cheese on top, the other side was pepperoni and sausage. I was told everything is under the cheese, but when I got it home I found that the mushrooms were on top and very large. My wife tried it even though she said it was not correct and said it was tasteless and soggy. I called the restaurant and after the person spoke to what I assumed was the person who made it I was told it was correct and I said it was not and again was told it was. I will never visit this place again. And this is the 2nd bad review, so shame on me for giving them another try. read more

Was concerned that many pizzas had burnt crust looking at reviews, mine was no different. Make sure to ask them not to burn pizza. Place is not very large and smaller than I imagined. We got a half pepperoni & jalapeno and half just cheese pizza. Nice tasting pizza and jalapenos had quite a kick but not much pepperoni. Crust was thin. This place is hit or miss. I go here because it is close to my house and most of the time the food is pretty good. The problem is the service. I once called in an order and was put on hold for 15 minutes so I hung up and called again. They took my order and when I got there 20 minutes later they didn't have my order. I'm not sure why I gave this place a 4 star in the past because out of all of San Diego I think this place has the best pizza. I've tried a lot of pizza places and this one is my favorite. Obviously I like other spots as well but nothing beats this place when it comes to pizza. I like other things as well like their antipasto salad and my wife loves their Sicilian eggplant. Ultimately I've been coming to this place since I was a kid (Over 30 years). I've lived all over San Diego and tried lots of pizza places, if you haven't tried this one then you simply haven't had the best pizza in San Diego. They recently remodeled the place so the atmosphere is nicer than it was but I don't come here for the ambiance- although it's pleasant. This place has gone down hill. They remodeled the building and it's a poor setup. I live close and called in my order for pick-up, one large pepperoni and sausage pizza. I showed up right on time to pick up my order and per the usual, the entry was crammed with customers standing around. No discernible order line, no pick up area, it's a mess. I waited 25 minutes past my pick up time to even get to the register. The staff seemed like they had no idea what was going on. A girl took an order and then disappeared to make a salad. This was a frustrating ordeal and I told myself "never again" the last time. When I FINALLY got my pizza, it had 2 1/2" of crust before the cheese and toppings started. Ridiculous. Heard about this place from someone and decided to check it out. Atmosphere is nothing to rave about, but the service was good and the food even better. We went for lunch and ordered both a pizza and a pasta selection (they have a daily special) and agreed we'd return for either. The crust on the pesto pizza was perfect; crunchy, light and chewy, and the sauce on the stuffed shells was nicely seasoned.
