The tacos are insane they're filled generously and smell amazing but looking at them I'm definitely going to have to save one, I eat the steak first and was in heaven. It's seasoned perfectly and in my head I'm seeing colors explode like from Ratatouille and I finish the whole thing but then I just can't leave Miss Gyro looking all dressed up and what the heck..Hands down the best Greek food of my life. My first and favorite Greek in Chicagoland from now on! My only regret is not getting the chicken, rice and hummus. I cannot wait to visit in person, even my 2yo was a fan! We were craving some Mediterranean food and decided to go to Fill A Pita for a quick lunch! They have 2 locations - Downers Grove and Bolingbrook - with slightly different menus. We went to the Downers Grove location and had a great experience! The service was great and I was in and out within minutes. There's ample seating inside! You can also order to-go on the phone or in the restaurant! We got a chicken shawarma bowl and the kufta kabob plate. The bowl I created came with yellow rice (you can get red spicy rice instead), hummus, tabouli salad, tomatoes, red onions, lots of garlic sauce, and red/fire sauce on the side. The plate came with yellow rice, kabobs, grilled tomato and onion, house salad, and hummus. We also got pitas with both entrees, making for the perfect meal! Both of the entrees can be completely customized with types of rice, toppings, and sauces. The meats were both very flavorful, tender, and juicy. The kabobs were grilled to perfection! I would love to try the chicken kabobs next time! Their garlic sauce is AMAZING! Would highly recommend getting some extra on the side because you will use it! I even had left overs for the next day! This is my first time trying Fill A Pita and I'm so excited to go back and try some of the other items on their menu!! I loved that they made my falafel fresh - and the place was not busy so appreciated it more that it wasn't leftover. I think that goes a long way. I've gone twice and enjoyed the falafel and chicken pitas. The toppings are always fresh and tastes delicious. There's a handful of tables inside to eat and the service is always quick. I went in today to buy two bowls for the happy hour special. No where on the sign does it say that you are limited ingredients you can add. This is false advertising as the sign says any bowl. So I added ingredients according to what's included in your bowl. After this was added I was told I was being charged for the extra ingredient (hummus) as they weren't included in the promotion and you could select only two toppings. Besides the fact that it's not advertised this way, at the minimum the restrictions should have been made clear at the time of selection. This bait and switch with the extra charge is not acceptable. I also went to the website to contact a manager and the contact form is broken. That's one way to avoid feedback. read more

I really like the food here but in the last 6-8 months their prices have increased astronomically and the food portions have significantly decreased. I understand the pandemic put strains on every restaurant but these guys are the most extreme I've seen yet and, unfortunately, this makes me think twice about returning. If you look at old menu pictures: Gyros over rice $8.99. NOW $15.99. That's a 78% increase!! Chicken shawarma platter $10.99. NOW $15.99. That's a 64% increase!! Along with the price increase, the food portions are pretty sad. They've started to include "filler" they've never added before just to take up room in the container so they give much less food. They've added a salad and some hummus to the entrees and the actual food you want has decreased by at least a 1/4 of the serving...at least! It's really disappointing cause like I said, the food is really good. In particular, their baba ghanouj is really good. I haven't personally had many issues with the service other than what some other helpers have mentioned regarding missing sauces. I've learned to double check the order before leaving just to make sure everything is right. It does seem like every time I go in there now, there's a new cashier. But again, this seems like a pandemic issue across all restaurants. In the era of Covid-19, this is a great casual eatery to pick up some food to go. They do have a bunch of dine-in tables and when I went, they had 2 tables, very much socially distanced, that were available for sit down dining. Right now, the vast majority of orders are for pick up or delivery. Service was friendly and prompt, and employees wore masks. I appreciated that they had a bottle of hand sanitizer by the cashier desk. I enjoyed all the dishes I ordered, which included the kufta (beef and lamb) and combination shawarma (beef and chicken) plates. Next time, I would ask for extra tahini sauce because I felt like the dishes really needed some extra moisture- the meat and rice can come across as dry without additional sauce. I used up all the tahini sauce and found myself wanted at least double of what they gave me. Getting a side salad is also a good idea to balance out all the carbs and meat. read more

A friend and I stopped here for takeout lunch today and enjoyed it very much. We both had large, filling bowls of chicken shwarma, rice and hummus. Very good food. I have a super sensitive stomach and this place always digests well for me. Staff is very friendly but a bit quiet.

I don't want to say all bad the food was pretty good have been here a few times and the food was much better in the past. I just want to add they are very sneaky they don't tell you about up charges and they have a big sign on the widow that says there bowls are 9.99 and Sandwiches 7.99 happy hour time. So no where in the sign does it say only two toppings. I mean what makes it a bowl other then the toppings. They don't tell you until it's too late and you're being charged full price. I asked and what I should have done was have them make it over again with the correct number of toppings but I paid and explained they should take the sign down and tell people diring the hours. The guy working there is rude. Tells me he doesn't give anything for free so sad I didn't ask for anything for free. read more

I think it's time to accept I don't really like this place. The taste and value of the food does not match the price. I go maybe every few months but portions have declined and the price doubled. Nice staff but there's just too many options out there. Not sure if they even gave the correct order. I asked for Gyro over rice expecting just that. I've ordered take out from this location a number of times over the past 4+ years. In the past I tended to order a platter, I've seen the shrinkage of the portions over the years along with the price increases. Though the tastes were always good. Last weekend I decided to try their gyros wrap for a quick bite on the go. I noticed some changes, they were not busy but acted like they had a lot of orders and prepared my wrap so quickly. Once I took a bite I noticed that the wrap was barely warm, not what I expected. Gyros meat needs to be hot to very warm to make the sandwich work. I didn't like that they used diced tomatoes vs sliced tomatoes, the amount of meat was little. They use a panini press to warm the sandwich but they acted like they were so busy the wrap barely received grill marks. Eating on the run didn't allow me to take a photo. I have to say this experience was below the 3 stars I gave. I probably will not take a chance at this location again for sometime, there are many Mediterranean choices in the area now. I hope they make the changes needed to get back to where they were before. I would take a pass here for the foreseeable future. read more

I will give a score of zero for customer orientation. You get more quantity in a rice bowl from any other Mediterranean chain such as pita inn and naf naf. They also give a pita bread. This place is a tiny bit hard to find since it's tucked back. We had to turn around on 75th because we drove right past it but missed it. It's between Chili's and El Burrito. We got a shawarma combo platter and a veggie platter. Everything was very good, and the pricing was very reasonable. The shawarma meats (beef and chicken) were somewhat on the dry side, but the rice was nice and moist. They included both tahini sauce and garlic sauce, which was nice. Even the red onions tasted surprisingly fresh. A platter should be enough for two people. The platter includes pita bread as well. The hummus, baba ghanoush, and falafel from the veggie platter were all tasty. The falafel were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I don't like grape leaves, so I didn't try any and can't comment on them, but the platter includes three of them. Would go again. I would love to try the kufta kabob. read more
