Grandview Municipal Pool - Dog night at the pool!

Went once and spent 40 mins using the app to get day passes at the front because that is the only…read moreway to purchase the pass. Legit that was INSANE! I saw a bunch of others out there struggling too. Based on reviews, this has been an issue for years. They could at least have a sign up or a note on their website that you should use a desktop version of the app. The tech for the mobile version must be mediocre or something because using it on the phone takes 30-40 mins legit. Tried going back another time because after we finally could go in, we had a great time. Friendly families everywhere and the pool itself was nice. This time, I bought tickets ahead of time so we would not have the long wait at the entry. Pop up storms were forecast- we were cool to be in and out of the pool, and it's hard to know sometimes what the weather is doing in other parts of the city. Well, we got there with the tickets paid for this time, and it was a weather delay so we couldn't get in the water for 90 minutes at the time we left, and the delay was continued because the day ended up stormy (not originally forecast). We ended up not getting to swim. They said that since the pool was technically open, I wouldn't receive a refund. I was like, I mean the reason we are here is for the water and that part is closed. No. No refund or call back from the Parks and Rec department. I normally don't write long saga negative reviews, but it seemed like since you obviously have to buy tickets ahead of time bc of that process, they should at least have a notice on the page before you pay that the water is closed for a weather delay before you spend money that day. Total waste of $31.

I have loved this pool for years and long before the fantastic renovations. The entire staff team…read moreis so friendly and the pool areas are clean and comfortable. The snack bar is great for cheap treats and the pool has a slide, 3 diving boards, a walk-in main pool, lap pools...there's just so much room! Our fave part are the grassy areas with huge permanent shade umbrellas. I took off one star for a couple reasons: one, the grassy areas get really wet/muddy. It's worth it for the shade, but it can be a mess if you lay towels in the grass. The other reason is that they allow a lot of water toys in the pools. I've lost count how many times I've been hit with people throwing toys/balls and have been squirted in the face with super soakers. Honestly, I wish throwing balls wasn't allowed at all.

It is a fast pool that is home to The Ohio State Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams, and The Ohio State Artistic Swim team. McCorkle is frequently used for swim and diving meets. My goal is to jump off the 10-meter platform one. I love swimming at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion so much when getting an opportunity to swim at a meet or gathering.

The McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion is exactly what it sounds like: the aquatic facility of the Ohio…read moreState University. So what's so great about some pools, anyways? Well, okay, not much. The pools are pools, mostly, except... there's this one pool. I call it the "Fun Pool" but I doubt that's an official title. But it is a pool. And it is fun. It is filled with built-in pool toys, like a whirlpool tub (spin!) and a series of chain-pull showerheads (splash!). It's a fun way to cool down from a hard workout over at the RPAC, or just a fun way to swim if you don't want to do laps in the "real" pools. McCorkle also houses saunas- a great combination is to hit the sauna, then hit the pool, then hit the sauna, repeat. I don't know if you're supposed to do this- it's probably unsanitary in some fashion and it's probably unhealthy to so drastically alter your core temperature or whatever blah blah. I love it. So yeah, you could say McCorkle is just a pool facility- and you might as well, if it keeps you from crowding up my fun pool! But really, if you are a student at OSU and you aren't using this place (and the adjacent RPAC) then you are really missing out on some of the better things our fees have paid for in recent years.

I started a project in late 2015 with Landfare . As time went on, it became increasingly apparent…read moreto me that they were incapable of performing the work they contracted to do at an acceptable level of quality. It was an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience. Their attention to detail and attention to quality was very missing and they ended up doing their work again... and again... and again. Some work to this day they have never completed satisfactorily. Notable items: * They had to lay the patio 4 times. Even on the 4th time it wasn't right. They told me the sub was too hard to work with and they would remedy themselves. Zach said he'd be back in a month. Never heard from him again until I followed up. * A project (and I quote) that was supposed to take 8-10 weeks spilled into nearly 1 year and 8 months before I simply told them I was giving up on them. * A pool bottom that wasn't poured properly and isn't smooth. * A fence that wasn't built properly. The masons on the job then were so abusive to it that it needed to be rebuilt anyway. * It took many multiple attempts to lay pavers so that they were level. * Using sub-par materials and installation techniques on a different patio that then started to cave in and wash out in the joints. * Improper install of irrigation such that it leaked and took months to get remedied. I am told it was the mason who cut a line. * John the owner is generally unresponsive unless he wants to collect money, sell you something, or you finally go absolutely nuts on him. * Most (maybe all?) limestone steps were laid with an improper grade so that they collected water and poured back towards the house. * Improper drain installs that had to be redone. * Much, much more. Landfare consistently failed to maintain quality throughout the project and I had to take them to task repeatedly. To be blunt, they would do work, call it complete, walk away, and then I would have to call them out on their mistakes. They were not proactive in any sense. I don't derive pleasure from having to take a contractor to task. They should be able to internally keep themselves accountable and produce a result for the client. Long story short, find someone else. Plenty more details at www.landfare.ltd where I exhaustively discuss this project.
