Worth the stop! The outside is not the most appealing but once you step out back with the great view, you'll understand. The crab cakes/balls are worth the stop alone. The crab balls are just smaller versions of the crab cakes. We ordered the basket with redfish, shrimp, and crab cake as well as shrimp tacos. It comes with fries and slaw. A definite dive bar with decent food. There is a back deck with a great view of the water. Order at the window, they give you an electric device which buzzes when the food is ready. No table service. Austin was hilarious! Great little place on the marsh. This place is intimidatingly divey when you pull up (if you're not used to dive bars). Don't be scared...come on in! This rating is only for the Friday karaoke night. We came here after dinner and just had generic drinks-mainly cheap beer. But we got to sing our hearts out all night, some of the locals joined us and taught us how to shag (it's a casual swing-type club dance, not sexy at all), and we probably chased a lot of the other bar patrons away. I think we were highly enthusiastic singers (we sure weren't any good) because the karaoke master told us where he'd be Sat night so we could come liven up his next party. Rita behind the bar reluctantly joined me for half a song that we both love and it was a blast. We pretty much closed the place down and they didn't even kick us out. This was really a five star meal. I took off a star because the flies were bad on the deck and there were too many people smoking. We visited on a Tuesday which was crab night. They apparently only offer o e item per night there is no menu. So, we ordered the crabs which turned out to be a twist on a low country boil. Crab legs, corn and sausage plus a twice baked potato. Yumm. If you don't like garlic you might not want to visit on a different night. The food was great so don't be put off by the exterior. Walk through the bar and sit on the deck. This my kind of place, looks like a dive on the outside and on the inside yeah, it still looks divey. But, the bar has plenty of seats for its size and it has a huge deck out back. It's a small bar with a small kitchen so I'm not sure why people expect this place to be food centric. The beer is ice cold and you can get a cheeseburger, beef hot dogs, couple of different po boys, tacos, and an ouster/shrimp basket. I've had most of it and for the price/view/chill setting it's awesome. They do a brunch on Sunday that I've had twice now, they change it every Sunday, and both times it was damn good. In my opinion the service is excellent, the bartenders don't have time for bullshit and if you insist on asking stupid questions well, the response is probably going to match, just how I like it. Even when they're busy like Sunday brunch they're very attentive and get people their drinks with a quickness. I moved here about 3 weeks ago and I didn't even start reviewing restaurants until I came here, and I started because I was having bad experiences at a lot of places. First time being in Beaufort and I love me a dive bar...the service was ok but the back deck was a cool spot to hangout. On a slow Monday night around dinner time we ordered our food and it took close to 45 minutes for some tacos and a shrimp po boy. The tacos were barely tacos...it had a piece of fried breaded fish with no slaw or anything to it, it legitimately looked as if a kid threw a fish stick on a tortilla and called it good enough. The po boy however was really good, slaw was great and amazing flavor. If you do come here be prepared to wait longer than you should and don't get the tacos read more

When we pulled up and went inside it looks like a small karaoke bar with a pool table. It is very small and they don't allow children. They have a great bar and an outside patio. The menu is limited but what they have is great. I ordered the 2 basket with fried shrimp and fried oysters. They were fried perfect and came with fries . Our friends had the wings and tacos. The wings were great but the tacos were very basic . The tacos were 3 fried shrimp rolled in a cold tortilla. It came with a little cup of cilantro and onion. It did have some kind of sauce which did spruce it up a bit. It's right on the water so a beautiful view. They have people come and sing every now and then as well. All in all we had a great time with friends. Ooo the food does shut down at 8 but the place stays open pretty late. read more

Make no mistake, this is a dive bar with a surprising deck. The bar is old, dark, and often filled with locals. The beer is cold and the food surprisingly good. Been meaning to stop in as we live nearby, and appreciate a good local hole in the wall for a quick meal and good drinks. We went on a Wednesday afternoon, so the place was quite empty. Though the sun shone bright, it was a bit chilly to sit outside so we bellied up to the bar. Everyone there was pretty much a local and many (all guys) were busy volleying for a position to update the female bartender on their latest endeavors. She was good at lending an ear but still accommodating us in a timely manner. We opted to split the burger, which had a solid reputation. As we waited for our lunch, I noticed a gentleman racking up some balls at the pool table behind us. Upon further observation, I realized that this guy was already hammered. After his loud breaks, the white ball would go flying off the table. On several occasions he literally nestled between us to get a better shot. I was polite but mostly silent as I couldn't asses if he was a good drunk or a bad. Upon reflection, I realized I really didn't need to be dealing with that during a casual lunch out. Wish he was getting his drunk on elsewhere but oh well, sh#t happens. The burger looked great upon arrival. As I cut the patty in half the red juices just over flowed making the bun soggy enough that it lost its ability to deliver the meat to your mouth. We ordered the burger medium, but it came out just barely a touch beyond rare. So the fork and knife had to make an appearance which isn't the way you want to eat a burger. Not the best experience but we will be back to give it another go. It's got great potential. read more

To set the record straight. This is a dive bar. For steak night you have to pre pay for your food. $12 and you usually get a large thick ribeye with 2 sides. Best $12 I've ever spent. Haven't been to pork chop night but planning on it soon. They do get busy and seating is limited but the deck is large and the view is great, so get there early. read more

It was great to see the Fillin Station back open for outdoor seating. The new owners, Ron and Shannon have done an amazing job cleaning the outdoor patio up and proving a nice reasonably priced menu. Although I was a fan of the Wednesday hamburger/hotdog dinner and the Friday Night Steak Night under the previous ownership, they really didn't have much else to offer on other nights. Never made it inside, so not sure what changes have been made in there, but you can tell that the new owners have been busy fixing the outside up and turning it into more of a restaurant and drinking establishment, than just the nice rustic dive bar it use to be. They had plenty of help on hand to make sure everyone was cared for. Between the six people at our table, I think we ordered all of the appetizers and everyone ranted and raved how good they were. I can personally attest to the Fried Pickle Slices and the Philly Cheese Steak Egg Rolls. They were wonderful. Wife had the Fried Oyster Sandwich, which she said was the best ever and I had the Fried Shrimp, which were good. French fries and Cole slaw were both fantastic. The highlight of the evening was the live music. Last night, they had a very talented young lady from Savannah, Jenna Lyn. What a powerful, raspy vocal came out of this tiny young lady. She made the night even better. Did I mention that the Fillin Station's outdoor deck has a great view of the water. The deck is good size now, but with their new menu and music venue, I foresee it needing to be expanded in the future. We truly enjoyed our night at the NEW Fillin Station. Good job Ron and Shannon. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I don't even know where to begin. My boyfriend and I are here for memorial day weekend. So we're starving, and of course I go straight to yelp. So this place strikes my interest. So we go. Walk in, and immediately get turned away. The man tells us he is a bar, not a restaurant and he doesn't even serve food. So my boyfriend reminds him, in order to serve alcohol, you have to have food as well. So he goes on to say o well I serve some frozen food. We came specifically for "steak night" and there were food signs everywhere in the restaurant. Again, the man continue yes telling us no he doesn't serve food, he's just a bar. So, I'm not sure what his problem was, but he was more than rude, I'm ashamed I even tried giving it a chance. read more
