It was a late night, but everyone was friendly and the food was good. The patrons were almost as friendly as the wait staff. It was a great evening.

In town on business and it's Wednesday, so you know I have to find me a place for #WingWednesday! One of the customers where I was working was RAVING about The Filling Station so I figured I'd do some research. Sure enough, there have wing specials on Wednesdays, so let me tell you about my experience! Atmosphere/Appearance: It's a sports bar FOR SURE. Lol. Sports stuff plastered all over the walls next to a variety of tap handles that are also thrown around as decor. There are lots of high top tables and a few booths, but was a little cramped in there. We were seated in a booth so we didn't have any worries about being bumped into. It was fairly loud inside due to it being their day of the best special. Service: My customer specifically told me to ask for Wendy when we got to the restaurant. Well, we did and were very satisfied. She had the most awesome personality and really added to the great dining experience. Food: When you come for the wing special you have to order a minimum of 10 and can only get a single sauce. You also have to buy a drink of some sort whether it be wine, a beer or a soft drink. Not bad. I had a total of 20 wings split between Buffalo Garlic Parmesan and Country Sweet. My coworker ordered Medium and we were able to share them all. My favorite was the Buffalo Garlic Parmesan. Let's admit, garlic parmesan on its own doesn't have a whole lot of flavor... right? It leaves you wanting more and just a bit empty... filled with grease. The buffalo added a kick to it that it definitely needed. I loved it. Country Sweet wasn't bad at all. It wasn't barbecue-y, but tasted more like a sweet & sour sauce. It was really good. Medium was just, well, medium. Lol. They were still good. I'd highly recommend the Buffalo Garlic Parmesan and it's at least 1 flavor I'd get the next time I come. Mango Habenero and Fire are still 2 more flavors I'd like to try. Value: I ordered a Merlot and it was $3.24! Had I known that when I ordered it I would've ordered quite a few more! Lol. I didn't see anything about wine specials that night, but I'm glad I discovered it. Wings on Wednesdays are $0.60 each when you order a drink and you have to order at least 10. If you want to skip eating in and take the wings straight home you can pay $0.70 a wing instead. Very good value here. I really liked this place. It is somewhere I'd come on Wednesdays whenever I'm working in the area and I strongly encourage you to check it out. Did I mention they have about 10-15 old school arcade games in the back? Talk about nostalgia! Really cool.

I was worried after reading the first and only review. The place needs more parking, it was nicer and brighter inside than I would have thought. Under the snow the back deck looked inviting. A crew of my favorite folks were there for a solid 5-6 afternoon hours during March Madness. They reported that like the other review there was only one lady behind the bar and serving food to the tables. They also reported that she kicked a$$ at managing everything, two more servers came on around 6:00. They reported that the food they had eaten all day: jalapeño poppers, fries, fried mushrooms, fried pickles were good. I tried the fish fry, oh I love a skinless fish! It was large, crisp and accompanied by creamy coleslaw. I'd throw the challenge flag at the curly fries, I must have gotten the bottom of the bag, nary a curl to be found.

There was a youth softball team celebrating the end of the season upstairs so it was a bit loud, but fun. It's right on the creek and there's plenty of outside seating and picnic tables so if the weathers nice you can get your food and beverages and head outside. The bar tenders were all good, let us try a couple samples to make sure we were gonna like what we ordered. There's a separate spot to order food and the young girls working the food spot were unenthusiastic... We ordered the chorizo poutine, Roni Stark Pizza and Tampa Bay Bustdown burger. The pizza was good, honey drizzle was a nice touch, but the poutine and burger were the clear winners. Chorizo gravy had a good kick, and there were big chunks of cheese curd, nice. The burger had 2 smashed patties, nice crispy edges and a ton of flavor. The Gouda cheese and bacon they are using are both high quality. A lot of variety of beers on tap, not all IPAs which was nice for someone that isn't an IPA guy. Tried 2 lager, an ale and a pilsner they had on tap and I'd drink any of them again.

Ample space both upstairs and downstairs. + 2 of the 4 sours I had were decent. + Great for kiddos as they have an outdoor space that's family and dog friendly. It was very busy the day we went with a fun atmosphere outside. + Historic venue with a nice restoration for the brewery. The less great: + The setup means long waits. Having to wait in line for beers in a completely packed brewery with two bartenders is not a way to run a business. They need to consider a new strategy for ensuring they can accommodate the volume they are currently doing. + Had a bite of someone's burger and found it more or less inedible. + My parents had attempted to organize a large family gathering on the day we were there and while I wasn't involved in the planning, there seemed to be missteps and miscommunications along the way that weren't met with much empathy or customer service in mind. Too many great breweries in Rochester to waste time on spots that aren't going to ensure guest satisfaction. Great location though! This place is so, so busy it's obvious the east side isn't brewery saturated (somehow) quite yet.

I've had their fish and chips in the past, which were meh compared to what I've experienced elsewhere, but that is where I will finish complaining and start complimenting for example the tacos here. They are amazing, as is the poutine, the onion rings, and the Smash burger--I got the Angry Sterling, which is a flavour explosion with delicious toppings. And the drink, the Toronto cocktail, was amazing--a strong enough flavour of whisky with just enough of the liqueurs to make it not sting going down. Oh, and I haven't spoken about the live music yet. There was a guy playing guitar who was taking requests, and--and I'm saying this as a person who isn't too big a fan of acoustic guitar music--was pretty good. His passion alone made me start to bop my head and tap my foot to the music. Oh, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the nice trails, beach, and a historic house in a neighbourhood that reminds me of the bridal path. I really felt like I was stepping into a pub, like a classic rugby players come here after games pub. They were setting up karaoke but we didn't partake. It was a bit hot (not miserable) so we ate out on their patio. The art was really pretty. We weren't sure what to order so when our server came around we asked them what they suggested. They told us the fish and chips were really good and so were the wings so my mom and I ordered that while my brother got Wings and sweet potato fries. The fish and chips were delicious, the fish was so crispy. My mom really liked the coleslaw and we both loved the chips (my mom ate them with ketchup and I dosed mine with vinegar). My brother really enjoyed his wings but his sweet potato fries were absolutely amazing. The servers were all really nice. I don't remember our server telling us their name but they had a pineapple tattoo on their hand and they were really attentive and friendly even though we were outside! We all really enjoyed this place! Would definitely come again if we weren't just traveling through.
