Cozy local dinner with great food and service. We have been here multiple times and never had any issues. For the most recent visit, we arrived after 8pm and the restaurant was very quiet. Our food came out relatively fast. I loved the mashed potatoes with gravy included with my pot roast. They were perfectly warm and comforting. You also get a dinner roll with your entree and a choice of two sides. Pricing is fair. For our two meals, our total came to a little over $30 with tax. They also offer homemade desserts in a display case which looks very enticing. We will have to try the desserts next time. read more

Visited with my family only one time. A nasty old man in the next booth was making derogatory comments that were directed at us. It was embarrassing and upsetting to my 90 year old mother who was with us. Wish management would have intervened and asked the bully to leave. We did not feel safe there. My brother-in-law and I ate here for the first time (lunch). I am very impressed with the menu, facilities and food quality. I had the French dip and it was great. Loads of tasty roast beef and more au jus than I could use. Nothing was included with the sandwich for $9.99. My brother-in-law had a western egg sandwich which I believe was good. He had pie for dessert and said it was very good. I had baklava which tasted great, but the pastry was very firm and I had to resort to a knife. The staff was friendly and efficient. Let's start with service which was poor at best. We sat there with no drinks for at least 15 mins. I had the Cuban sandwich with baked beans and potato skins for appetizer. The pork on the Cuban was mostly all fat and the beans were room temperature at best. As far as the potato skins they were so greasy I had to stop eating them. I won't be back there!! read more

Today is National Daughters Day and I decided to treat my daughter, live-in School of Ministry student, and wife to dinner here. Our family loves coming here and have done so for over 15 years. The food is excellent and the service quick and friendly. One of my wife's go-to meals is the Cobb salad which is a generous size and filled with fresh lettuce and vegetables. I order the stuffed meatloaf with pesto sauce and it is fantastic! The cheeseburger soup is to die for as well!!! Highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Every single person here was so nice, the food was so good, the restaurant is very clean, and the service was super fast. This is one of my favorite diners. Great breakfast specials and coffee, comfortable like home especially with the girls. Had lunch there today. Went with the hot turkey sandwich. In house roasted turkey not deli meat. Strange bright yellow turkey gravy but was very good. Hubby had turkey club made with the same roast turkey. Not what it used to be. This was my favorite place to go awhile back. I had changed jobs and missed going there for meals. A friend told me it has changed (not for the better) and I have since changed employment again and I am now closer. So the last Saturday and today I gave it a shot. Not impressed at all. All the wait staff are just about gone. They have raised the prices and cut the portions. I ordered my eggs over easy and it arrived (after seeing it sit for several minutes) with one egg smashed and hard and the other over hard. If I was not in a bit if a rush I would have sent it back. The pancakes were ok and what home fries I had (small portion) were decent. As for the wait staff the one younger brunette has been ther awhile and she is good. And one mature blonde who waited on me last week was attentive and good. My waitress at the counter was mediocre at best. I miss the old restaurant for sure. I won't be going back unless I hear things have changed for the better I am sorry to say. read more

Last night we ventured out in the biggest snow storm we have had thus far. It was one of those nights where you just don't want to drive too far but you are already on the road so why not go out to eat? I passed several dining establishments with empty parking lots on our drive there- not surprising... What idiot would be out driving in that kind of a storm besides me? Well me and the 50 other cars in the parking lot of Macedon Hills! I was shocked to see such a crowd on a night that was so bad you were risking your lives for bacon and eggs.... or chicken parm.... whatever it was that drew them there they couldn't be stopped! I ordered a fish fry- it came with soup and a salad. The soup was a Manhatten Clam Chowder and the salad was a simple garden salad with ample dressing on the side. I was quite pleased with the fish fry- it was very meaty, extremely large in size and fried just right- not too oily and just the right amount of crunch. I don't usually eat fish, after having been vegetarian for so long I am finally eating animal protien again. This was a nice revisit to the land of "meat" (well, fish anyway!) Both of my kids chose the Chicken Parm that came with loads of garlic bread, pasta, and a soup or salad. They ordered the Italian Wedding Soup and they were humming in delight. My husband got the goulash. He is particular about his Italian foods as he grew up spoiled by his mother's cooking. The dish did not disappoint. It too came with a soup and salad. Next came my mother who ordered scrambled eggs, toast, and a giant amount of homefries that could have fed an entire family was just as please. The Bomber Sandwich was on my father's plate and nothing was left at the end of the meal... even though he kept saying that there was too much food on his plate. He left a very happy man. I have eaten at Macedon Hills many times and it always seems hit or miss. There is absolutely NO consistency with the food or the service. The only thing with consistency is the soup...which is akin to a thick porridge or gruel. The spaghetti sauce, in my humble opinion, is way too sweet. I have many other complaints about the food that I could put in this review but I will spare you the details. The food is not the real reason I am writing this review. It is the terrible way this restaurant is being managed. You see, up till now, I could deal with the poor service and the mediocre food. You get what you pay for right? I have seen the customer base of this restaurant slowly decrease over the past year. Is it the poor service? The quality of the food? Hell, maybe it is the increasing competition moving into the neighborhood. I have no idea. One thing I do know.... the only response I have seen from management is to raise the prices of their food! What kind of logic is this? I don't have an MBA from one of those fancy Ivy League schools but I am smart enough to know you don't raise ticket prices to board a sinking ship! That is a rash decision by an inexperienced manager! Let me give you a bit of friendly advice. Start by asking yourself, why you are losing customers! NOT why you are losing money! Once you figure it out you can start to fix it. Raising prices is not the answer. In fact, it's a sure fire way to drive customers away. I should know, I am one of them. read more

I have been going to Macedon Hills for over 15 years, and the quality has dropped to unacceptable. Most of the food is from frozen packages or a box, and the service is mediocre at best. Today was the day to let others know. Breakfast included eggs over easy. The cook translates this to one broken hard cooked egg fried with edges crispy. The home fry recipe is surely potatoes warmed through with paprika and grease. One of us ordered onions with home fries. This was the above with onions sprinkled on top. One of the kids ordered corned beef hash, which was out of a can almost warm. It is quite apparent that Orange marmalade is not the preferred jam of their customers. Thankfully we could remove 17 of these little squares of undesirables to get to the one lonely grape. Too bad there were 4 of us. read more

First experience of many at the Macedon Hills Family Restaurant. When I first got there, the blonde hostess appeared to give me a look of contempt. However, I'm a patient man, and thing smoothed out. A cheerful, smiling Sasha waited my table. I was put at ease w her warm demeanor. Service was attentive and snappy. I had the clam chowder, Tuna salad sandwich(she made sure I didnt mean Club), and coffee. All were quite delicious! Couldnt see giving a lousy $2 standard tip for excellent work, so I gave $4 on a $12 tab. Servers have to eat! I go the route often. I/we will be back! read more

About average, though they have the best turkey sandwiches. Real turkey right off the bird, no weird processed stuff. Their fries are pretty good, too - crinkle-cut like from Tom Wahl's or other "old-fashioned" restaurants. I've also had their bomber steak sandwich, which was not really my thing, but tasty nonetheless. Their fried clam basket was just alright. They also have some good, but not cheap, cake. About four bucks for a slice. After paying like 8-9 bucks for a sandwich and fries, it can get pricey. Plus tip. They do have a list of specials that are a buck or two off the normal price, with a good variety to choose from. Their everyday selection includes the basics like appetizers (chicken fingers, quesadillas, etc.), salads, soups, sides, and then has dinner entrees (steak, ham, ribs...), seafood platters and baskets, a few Italian dishes such as chicken parmesan and a few pastas, a kids section, lots of sandwiches, and pretty much whatever you might want for breakfast. Service is decent, sometimes a hostess or waitress is a little cold, but never anything more. Some of them are quite friendly and attentive. Location is easy to get to, right off Route 31, and they have plenty of parking. Gets more full during the usual meal times, but generally not much crowding. Overall, good place for a nice, relaxed meal once in a while. read more
