She took everything I was hoping to find in a new apartment and showed me all of my options. I was in a bit of a time crunch with just over a month to find a place before my current lease was up, I have a dog and have a pretty tough budget I was hoping to not exceed. All of that, in addition to me being extremely picky (as you should be with a decision as big as where you'll be living!!) led to a stressful search before beginning to work with her. She sent me numerous listings daily, didn't push me when I decided to pass on seeing some, drove me to and from most showings and, in the end, found me a fantastic place. I went from scouring Zillow nearly all day, every day, to finally being able to relax and feel assured Alison would see and send me everything that was available. Working with her was incredibly easy and I felt like I was going through the process with a friend the entire time. She is professional, kind and extremely patient. She was always easy to get in touch with either by phone or a text and answered every question I had. I couldn't recommend working with her more!

Nice clause on the bottom of the broker agreement releasing these folks of any liability after happily telling me I could easily fit a queen sized bed in a death trap. These "expert advisors" are in cahoots with some of the filthiest slumlords in BK. Always check the DOB website for violations certificates of occupancy and landlord watchlists before proceeding.

However, the agent I worked with, Melissa, basically lied about many details of the apartment I ended up renting and was only out to make her part of the commission. The apartment was being "renovated" when I saw it. Melissa said the landlord would replace everything, put screens in the window and that the apartment came with a ceiling fan in the kitchen. Melissa stated that the landlord is great and the "super" does excellent work. She was very persistent when it came to collecting the deposits and fees, but her dedication fell off shortly afterwards. I requested to see the apartment again before the move in date to ensure all repairs had been made. BAB was unable to make that happen and began diverting my questions to the agent representing the landlord. On my move-in date, the "super" was still repairing the bathroom, there were no refrigerator or stove, the ceiling fan had been replaced with a used light fixture, the windows did not have any screens, and a filthy stove hood was in the kitchen. (The appliances were delivered after 6 PM that evening. Therefore, I didn't have any heat because National Grid could not turn on the gas without a stove.) Over the last month, I have made several requests to have BAB do something about all these issues, but nothing has been done. When I began my complaint to Melissa, she tried to say that she didn't say everything would be "new" or "replaced". She basically just stopped responding to me. At that time, Ernest became the contact person, and he assured that everything would be taken care of. He claimed to have contacted the landlord's agent and more useless promises were made. I was told that the super would replace the hood and install the screens "when the weather got warmer". I recently followed up with the super and he told me that he doesn't install screens. Communication has been horrible. They haven't even been able to supply a contact number for management...just the address to mail monthly rent checks. This has been a disappointing experience. My next step will be contacting a lawyer to see what my rights are concerning this mishap. I have a huge paper trail to document everything. It's great to see how wonderful BAB has been for everyone else...wish it could have been for me as well.

I had a very specific criteria that I was looking for with a low budget, but she still found me a variety of spaces to view. She also had fantastic knowledge of the areas, and was able to provide me with recommendations on where to live. She negotiated rents and security deposits on my behalf, and made sure that I felt safe visiting properties. Erin was completely transparent with me throughout the process, and really made me feel like I could trust her to put my interests first. She was incredibly responsive through text at all hours, and was able to get viewings scheduled quickly and efficiently. Would 100% recommend working with Erin for your next apartment search, and will definitely be coming back to her for mine!

I had a deeply troubling experience with Elegran broker Aimee Fink during my tenancy at a co-op…read moreapartment she listed in Murray Hill, Manhattan. During the leasing process, I explicitly requested a two-year lease for housing stability. I was told in writing that a two-year lease was unavailable due to board policy. I later discovered this was not accurate. The real reason was that the apartment was part of an estate with a mandate to sell after one year. Had I known this, I never would have signed the lease. At the initial showing, Ms. Fink failed to show up entirely and sent a colleague without notifying me in advance. That colleague arrived 30 minutes late. When I directly asked why the previous tenant had left the apartment, I was told she had moved. I later discovered from a long-term building resident that the previous tenant had actually passed away. When I raised this with Ms. Fink in writing, her response was dismissive and aggressive rather than professional or empathetic. During my tenancy, Ms. Fink gave me less than 24 hours notice for an open house. When I cited my tenant rights and declined, she sent written communications suggesting I take my professional business meeting in the building stairwell. She also stated in writing that she would sabotage my future housing recommendations if I did not comply with her unlawful request. I filed multiple formal written complaints with Elegran management. My first complaint received an initial acknowledgment but no meaningful corrective action. My second complaint received no response at all. I have documented written evidence of everything described above and am currently working with an attorney on this matter. We have sent formal written communications to Elegran in both July and August documenting these violations. To date, Elegran has not responded to a single communication.
