At WEC to check out practices for an upcoming Barrel Racing competition, my wife and I decided to try Filo's, one of the few dining options at WEC that we haven't tried. We followed the arrows directing us to Filo's but upon reaching the parking lot to the Equestrian Hotel, the arrows were nowhere to be seen. We must be close. Lo and behold, Filo's is just to the left of the hotel easily accessible from the parking structure next to it. It was a late lunch so there were no crowds. We checked out the menu and my wife opted for Mary's Taco Salad ($17.75) and I ordered the 3 Street Taco ($14). We also ordered tortilla chips and salsa ($7.25). Just like Chipotle, you order by the counter and choose whatever ingredients/toppings you want on your taco. Service was friendly and quick. My wife liked her taco salad and the sweet pork in it...but she felt it was a lot of food. I ordered 3 different meats for my tacos, carnitas, barbacoa, and carne asada. Of the three, I preferred the carne asada. Barbacoa came next and thought the carnitas were too salty. The 3 tacos were filling though. The chips and salsa weren't worth it. All in all, the food was OK but lacked value. If wanting some Mexican food, your best bet for better flavors and value would be outside WEC. Came here with no expectations but was pleasantly surprised at this place. Had a burrito bowl with the lime chicken and was shocked by all the different toppings you can add. Never seen this number of choices in a bowl from multiple types of jalapeño, onion, and fresh salsas. The actual chicken and rice were fairly average but the toppings made it. The portion was also significant, which is maybe expected given the price. The atmosphere is basically like a chipotle, so set your expectations accordingly. The folks behind the counter were very kind and patient. We came for an early lunch, so service was quick and easy. I could see it getting backed up during busier times so look into the online ordering if you're in a rush. If you're looking for a quick fresh bite at WEC, this place is a good quick option. read more

We happened upon Filo's Mexican Cantina when we were walking around the World Equestrian center. Service was efficient and all employees were pleasant even the one on break in line ahead of me who confirmed my choice of burrito was good. You order and select all ingredients at the counter, ordering and paying was quick. The steak bowl ($15.75) and chicken burrito ($13.75) were good and the servings were large although I thought $42 was a little high for that plus 2 fountain drinks and a side of queso but I guess that is the sign of the times. When we arrived many of the tables had not been cleaned off. During our lunch multiple dogs were brought in the restaurant, none appeared to be service dogs. The restaurant is painted with bright colors and has large windows that make it bright and welcoming. The flow of customers was steady and appeared that many were regulars. We sat inside but there was also a patio where many were enjoying there meals. read more

This was the worse Mexican food I had in a long time. It was worse than airport food. The meat was like eating beef jerky and cold. The cheese dip was brown and looked nothing like cheese. When we asked the server if it was supposed to look like that she said, it was seating for a while this is why it looked that way. She did not offer to get us a fresh order. Also, the nachos were old and stale. We had a couple bites and threw everything away. It was a waste of money. I do not recommend this place. read more

While walking through the World Equestrian Centers holiday displays we got hungry. Rather than opt for a formal dining experience in the hotel we discovered Filo's located right outside of the hotel but still on the property. It's an order at the counter place where my taco salad was made right in front of me. I was able to pick my ingredients which I really appreciate. I got the avocado crema & mild salsa on the side. I also ordered a Delish but super sweet mango margarita from one of the four swirling margarita machines behind the counter. My taco salad was large & plentiful & that avocado crema was so good. Others in my party ordered the bria tacos which came with a warm dark sauce which I was told was delicious. Another in my party ordered the chips & salsa. She said one of the best chips she's had. Which says a lot because she's from Cali where she's had her share of great Mexican food. Another ordered the tacos & found them quite tasty. You can dine inside or out. We chose to sit outside and had a view of a small ring where riders were warming up their stunning horses. We love Filo's first of all, great food. This review is based on the customer service today. We live close by WEC & decided to grab lunch to go. Got home only to realize one order of tacos had onions on them when I asked for no onions. I also ordered churros that we paid for but did not get. The young woman at the register cared more about her nails than being friendly or attentive. The restaurant wasn't busy either, no one in line & only 2 tables with guests. No reason not to get it right. Definitely disappointed today. read more

A hit with the whole family! We ate here for dinner today while visiting the Winter Wonderland and they have something for everyone. I got tacos andstreet corn, my husband got a burrito bowl and my mom got a chicken quesadilla. The service was quick and friendly and the food was fresh and delicious. It is a little weird that some items require you to get a food receipt and give it to the cashier,but it was not a big deal. The decor is funky street art inspired with really bright colors. The tacos were 3 for $14 and you have a variety of meat or grilled vegetables to choose from. They were delicious, but the burrito bowl was delicious too and was a much bigger portion. The street corn was pretty good. The burrito bowl was where it's at! It's a big, fresh bowl that you customize with whatever toppings you want. It's big enough for 2 people. Service is good, ladies were nice and explained any questions we had. Prices were astronomical, but we are at WEC so it makes sense. Street corn was okay, not authentic but good when you added mayo and salsa Valentina. Street tacos are more like chipotle rather than authentic street food. Although the food was delicious, there were too many negatives to rate based on food alone! This restaurant is not handicap accessible! You park at the hotel and walk quite away to get there. The map shows the parking lot and the knife/ fork symbol Filos. There are no bathrooms in the place, they are outside someplace. The servers, including the ones making the food at the salad bar wear no mask. In the time we were there, tables, with one exception were not wiped down, customers clear their own plates and utensils. Dogs are allowed inside, not just on the patio, while we were there it poured, wet dog smell does not enhance the appetite! Very very loud and tight, not a good place for conversation. Met a friend there for lunch. She parked in the handicap parking at the hotel, an employee in a golf cart noticed she was having trouble with the walk, and drove her over. On the way back we walked together and it was very difficult for her. It was crowded, new but messy with food on tables and floor, no directions so we sat at the cleanest table thinking it would eventually be wiped down...hahahah. We got in line, I asked how much the salad bowl was, as it was not indicated on the menu board as were the other items. I was told $10 and I noted that it did say $.99 for guacamole, choose chicken when asked what meat, lots of veggies including grilled corn.... Went to check out and with a drink and tax it was almost $16 which didn't add up to me! I asked and was told meat (maybe 1/4 cup of very dry chicken was $2 extra! So now it made sense but....communication is important! My friend's quesadilla took almost 20 minutes to come out and it was steak not chicken, not a hard thing to get right! Another 10 minutes for the correction! The food was good, the salad, so much more than a salad, guess they call it a bowl, was awesome and I was pleased with the choices I had. The debit card reader was not working, the soda fountain was not working, the bathrooms are outside the restaurant. I felt like I was at chipotle with the only exception being that the employees here were friendly. The food was good but all the accommodations were not there. Ok so a few things-- staff was kind and great! It's basically a glorified chipotle but way slower. They make you order nachos, quesadilla, and kids meal at the register (makes no sense)...so we ordered our food in the same line fashion as chipotle but had to wait 5-10 more minutes at the register for additional ordering. Genuinely was in a stand still line for 20 minutes (most likely due to this awkward ordering process for everyone else also). Food was ok and the restaurant is tucked away from everywhere so it was journey to find it. All the hand sanitizer stands were empty. Saw a staff member who was replenishing utensils drop forks on the table and put them back into utensil holders for costumers to pick from smh. read more

I was staying at the world equestrian center hotel in ocala when we decided to eat lunch at filos, little did I know this was a huge mistake I decide to make a custom steak, and lettuce bowl when we got to the salsa station the person next to me requested salsa and then they dumped a bucketload of salsa onto my bowl! Then they proceeded to apologize to the person in line next to me! The next time I came I went to the fountain drink machine looking for a drink with NO ice because I was thirsty and they were out of ice then when I walked over there they refused to let me have my drink without ice, then when I finally got my food it was ice cold and soggy. Just awful. Expected so much more at this amazing venue, World Equestrian Center. Stopped in for aftercare snack. Chips were unbelievably stale and we had a lot of small broken chips. When we asked for fresh chips we were told they were baked same day. Certainly we had old chips mixed in. We we offered a refund, so thats the reason for one star. Line was really slow and staff was not hospitable. Menu said "specialty cocktails", they had Hornitos in a can for $10. WEC needs to find a new client for this space. read more

I searched Apple Maps looking for a restaurant on my way through Ocala to Gainesville, and FILO's showed as NE of everything else, so I set my GPS and called to place an order. The first person I spoke to said they would be closing right at 8 (I placed my order at 7:45) and I said If be there within 10 minutes, as that's what my GPS said. I arrived at the location Apple Maps took me to, see attached screenshot, which is actually someone's house. I called to explain the situation and ask for the correct address, and the second employee I spoke to was rude and told me they had a line out the door, a stark contrast to the person I had just spoken to. At no time did this employee describe where this restaurant is located, and was annoyed that I asked for the correct address. Upon putting that address into Apple Maps, it could not be found, so I asked if there were any nearby landmarks or locations I could use to find it, since I had already placed my order. She said "world equestrian center." At NO TIME did she let me know that the restaurant is literally INSIDE of the World Equestrian Center. Even once parked and through the gate, this restaurant is impossible to find. I literally still don't know where it is, so I just went to the cute Italian place near Arena 2. I literally cannot comprehend how an employee couldn't take the time to string together the sentence "we are in the World Equestrian Center" or give any adjacent landmarks, which there are many near the Arena. Absolutely awful service, and they need to fix their Apple Maps listing. read more

We just left Filo's and we will not be going back. The place has a weird smell so we chose to eat outside. The tables are located right near the trash cans so while your eating you can smell the trash every time the wind blows. Nobody speaks when you walk in. The manager rushed by us like she was busy even though the place was pretty empty. She wouldn't give us eye contact I guess so she wouldn't have to speak. The employees were just okay not friendly. Just wanted to know what you want on your taco. The food was okay I ordered the asada tacos, my husband had a taco salad and my daughter had a shrimp burrito. When I tasted her burrito the shrimp had a strong after taste it was pretty gross. So my husband tried it and agreed it had a weird taste. We didn't complain it wasn't worth the energy it would take to explain how everything was so we just left. Were just hoping we don't get sick in the next few hours. read more
