The Ahi tuna salad was very disappointing. The tuna was threaded with inedible tendons. And, it had been seared in the morning, then refrigerated; it was not freshly seared before serving. First time to Filos and it did not disappoint! We were greeted and seated right away. Even though we sat right outside of the kitchen everything was wonderful. Victoria was our server and was very attentive during our meal. We started with calamari and chicken and sausage gumbo. We both had the nightly special- I had Maui Maui with a shrimp and crab creole sauce and hubby had the short ribs. Of course we shared the key lime pie for dessert. Lord knows I'm falling behind on the My Humble Opinion reviews. I visited Filo's Tavern last October, and this is my humble opinion. We arrived at 12:22 on October,3. There wasn't a wait and we got a table immediately. After perusing the menu we placed our orders. The food started to arrive by 12:46. My salad was disappointing because the proteins were buried under the lettuce. But it was delicious and the chicken was there. It just didn't present well. This salad was amazing! It was huge, fresh, and so so flavorful. The dressing was top notch. Definitely try this salad! Our dinner order consisted of Cajun Filet with Mashed Potatoes for me and my wife had the Southerner Cobb Salad. My filet was by far the best that I have ever had! My wife loved her salad as well. Of course it was her birthday so we had to have dessert. Carrot Cake for me and Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream for her. We could have ordered only one as they were both large enough for two people. As was my Filet, the Carrot Cake was the absolute best I've ever tasted. Came here on a Friday night at 5:30. The restaurant appeared full, but we were seated in about 5 minutes. We were greeted right away and the waitress answered any of our questions. Drinks and appetizers were served right away. The calamari was very good. I got the Cajun ribeye while my wife got the crab cakes. Both were very good. The deserts were also very good. We will definitely be back. A couple of suggestions. The mashed potatoes could have used a side of butter as they were a bit dry. Filo's has some of the most tasty food in Winchester! Lots of options, recommend one of the burgers or a steak. I wasn't impressed with the blackened fish and rice but the fried shrimp were good. The service has always been friendly and I like the building itself. They recently installed some auditory boxes to dampen the noise and it helps a lot.
