Way, way too expensive for mediocre food. Wine on the pricey side. Not many fish choices. Server said the burger would be "cooked through", as that's how they serve it, which is actually how I would order it. No, the burger that I got was pink. Complained to manager who took it off the bill. Not our servers fault, he was very good, but the kitchen needs to be consistent. Plenty of better places in town. They need to whip the menu into shape, cull the prices and work on the food quality and quantity. The locals won't be back as is, sadly. read more

Date night #2 of 2024... Quick takeaway: Both food and service were decent. This restaurant just opened a couple months ago, and it always takes some time to figure out systems and processes, so I'm being a little bit more lenient on the rating than I otherwise would be. We sat at the bar, which was completely filled. Took the bartender a few extra minutes to notice us, but once he did, he was very nice. This was the pattern throughout the evening. Bartenders were slow to check on us, but when they did, they worked hard. Wife had a mixed drink, and I had a glass of wine. Both were good, and the wine was a generous pour. We ordered the nachos with pork belly, a barbecue chicken salad, and an order of truffle fries. The nachos were decent. The chips on top were a bit overcooked and the chips on the bottom didn't have much in terms of toppings and were undercooked. The pork belly was cooked perfectly and very good. The BBQ chicken salad was very good, other than the fact that I ordered it without cheese and it came with cheese. But the dressing was fantastic, the lettuce fresh, and the chicken seasoned and cooked well. Only complaint is that there wasn't a whole lot of chicken and it wasn't cut up into very small pieces. The truffle fries were great. For dessert, we got a piece of the New York style cheesecake. The cheesecake was very good. The homemade whipped cream was a bit overwhipped, but otherwise very good. My only complaint was that they threw some obviously canned strawberries on top. Would have been better to have just left the cheesecake plain instead of messing it up with the horrible strawberries. The bill for everything came to just under $90. A bit steep for the quantity and quality of the food, but not as bad as some reviews seem to imply. Biggest recommendation to management would be to add an extra bartender on the weekends. read more

As usual, whenever I knew restaurant opens in Sarasota, we give it a try. Finn and tonic exceeded our expectations. The Seafood was fresh and delicious (grouper). Parmesan crusted chicken was delicious. The food was served on heated plates which kept our food hot throughout the meal. The service was impeccable (Chris) . Had a club dinner with 20 people at Fin & Tonic last night. the only word I can use is Outstanding for the entire experience. From the setup in a private room to a bartender/waiter specifically tasked to ensuring everything was to our liking, to the quality of the dinners, to the general overall experience, everything exceeded our expectations. Well done F&T! We visited this location many times when it was a Red Lobster, and what can I say, it was Red Lobster. It was OK. F&T has turned what used to be "OK," into EXCELLENT! The ambience is still much more fresh; airy, bright and clean. The bar is still outstanding. That was one of Red Lobster's high points. But again, the ambience is so much better. The service was perfect. The staff is so friendly and eager to please. The food was delicious. The menu is interesting and the plates are a fresh twist on traditional seafood dishes. Our waitress was awful. She was not knowledgeable at all and didn't even try to be pleasant or helpful. In fact, she was very negative about a couple of things on the menu - our friends ordered crab cakes and she was like, "Are you sure you want to order those?" and when my friend asked why she just shrugged. The other male we were with doesn't drink alcohol, so asked what kind of juice they had and she said none. I said to her: what do you mean, none? You have a full bar, surely you have orange and cranberry juice at the very least, and she said they do, but they don't sell it as drinks (huh?). I suggested he get a club soda with a few dashes of bitters and she started to rant about how that was an alcoholic drink and blah, blah, blah. I explained to her that I was a food writer and had written extensively about NA drinks that a few dashes of bitters was acceptable to all but the most strict teetotalers, and is actually comparable to NA beers. She was having NONE of that and told me I was wrong. I was not wrong. The food was fine, I've had better, I've had worse, but that lack of service is a deal breaker for me. read more

Wow - this was our first time back after the warm opening. So glad we made time to go! Everything was GREAT! We were met at the door and welcomed to our table. We ordered from the specials - husband had surf and turf and I had the bacon wrapped pork chop. They were both so tasty! The interior of this restaurant is well decorated and welcoming and our server was very kind. Unfortunately, the food here is incredibly mediocre even if it wasn't as expensive as it is. Every dish we had lacked seasoning and looked like something I might be served at an amateur cook's house.
