The group rate made the price more reasonable, and having the space arranged ahead of time made a difficult situation a little easier for our family. The burial service itself was quick and respectful, which we really appreciated during such an emotional time. One thing I didn't like is that if you purchase the burial space here, you are required to order the tombstone through them. Because of that, we couldn't arrange everything through the funeral home like we originally planned. One positive thing is that if you don't speak English, they do have Asian staff available to help, which makes communication easier for many families. Overall, planning ahead did help reduce some stress when the time came. For families considering burial arrangements, planning early can make a very difficult time a little more manageable.

They never compensated me for that error - and I let it be thinking it was a "one and done" mistake, but based on another review, this seems to be something they do. How do you bury someone in the wrong spot? How do you bury someone in a previously purchased spot? Or does that only happen if you fall under a certain demographic? My review from another platform: Feels kind of "weird" rating a cemetery - but after traveling over 40 miles to see a recently departed soul, I spent over an hour trying to locate their burial spot. Why? Because there was no temporary name plate on their grave, and there are no numbered graves to the left or right of the person. I could not even tell where I was. They have no maps on the outside of the building to help visitors. Apparently, the only maps they have are on the inside, so you must visit during office hours -- but how is that feasible for working individuals, or people who can only visit on Sunday? Their sections are not identifiable either -- there should be signs for each section (Ex: Grant, Cleveland, etc.). So after traveling +80 miles, I ended up saying my goodbyes on my own. The office states they cannot put down the temp markers because they get in the way of the landscapers -- what landscapers? The sections I have visited are always poorly maintained. No fresh grass, massive tractor tire marks over graves, dry and dead landscape. I won't even mention how they buried someone else in a plot I purchased years ago.....lucky for them, I did not cause a ruckus over such a massive oversight. I did not have the heart to have the person they buried exhumed and moved. Truthfully, they have never been helpful in all these years, and now I have 1 more reason to say they are less than sub-par.

The woman that answered the phone sounded as if it was 12 o'clock Sunday afternoon. She assured me that someone would get back to me within the hour. As promised, I received a call from a young man named, Logan. He explained that an associate of his would be by shortly to pick my mom's body up. By 6 AM that Sunday morning, I walked beside the gurney that carried my mom's body out to the van where she would be taken to a safe place until in Logan's care. Logan called again later that morning to assure me that my mom's body was on the way to them. Logan contacted me several more times to keep me abreast of what was going on and what to expect. And reminded me that if I had any questions at all to reach out. Logan basically held my hand throughout the entire process of laying my mom's body to rest. Everything took way too long to be taken care of. From the time he was brought from the ME office, to being notified that his body was picked up and the cremation was complete. It was supposed to be a funeral home in Freeport(much closer to where I live) Then I was NOT notified about the additional 4% charge for paying with my credit card. 5 death certificates were ordered. Neither my niece or myself have received any to date! This was paid in full, one month after his actual date of death on 03/15/26 Today is 04/13/26 another month has passed. So we needed to arrange for a funeral home to pick him up the same day, prepare him, bring him to the grave site and manage the process with the cemetery. The nursing home recommended Fives along with a few others which they had a good experience with. So I called around and Liana at Fives was very helpful in walking through every step and answering my questions. Their pricing was very clear and they emailed me a quote within minutes of me asking. They were reasonably priced, especially compared with funeral homes closer to the city and they offered the same range of services that met our needs. So we selected them. We drove out to see my father and collect his things, and Shawn (the owner, carrying on from his father) met us there, answered a few more questions and was very kind and professional as he moved our father out of his room. Fives was able to arrange for the burial the very next afternoon at our cemetery in Queens. So that was very efficient. Shawn met us at the cemetery office before the scheduled time and handled everything with them once he had all the relevant info from us. At the grave, Shawn accompanied us to the plot and offered a few words to get us started which was nice as we were doing the ceremony ourselves with a very small group. He also reminded us of some of the nuances of the ceremony which was helpful. So our experience with Fives was as good as you could hope for in a situation no one looks forward to. Highly recommended that you consider them. While our situation was relatively simple, but on a short timeline, based on our experience, I'm confident Fives would do a very good job with even more complex situations. The last 2 years encompassed too many people passing, some timely, others not. We had recently been to Fives for a family member's service. Fives was originally chosen for it's transparency in pricing for a direct cremation. There were no hidden fees. Everything was included. They didn't try to up sell us on anything, yet we were given the option to have anything we wanted handled for us. We also appreciated that their rooms were available in a variety of time frames, and that we didn't have to decide right away. Mike's service was untraditional, with his urn set on a hillock of moss and wildflowers that our family florist made from his widows' vision. There was no problem at all with the longer than usual set up or break down time, in fact they were pleased to have everything reflect Mike so well. Weeks later my husband passed suddenly. John was not a fan of traditional funerary rites, so originally we only wanted transportation from the coroner's office to the crematorium. Or so we thought... but of course it's the funeral director that helps provide the Death Certificate and knows how to make complexities navigable while I was out of my mind. What will the ashes go in? Do we pick his ashes up ourselves? What does he come home in? Where do I find something nicer, meaning an urn? Who will transfer the ashes? Will there be an online obituary and place for people to find information on where and when the service will be? What about cards and a sign in book? Once again, Shawn and Liana were wonderfully kind and generously supportive in providing all the information I needed to honor my husband's memory in a way that he would have liked, even though this would include the event taking place somewhere else. Ultimately most of the things I had questions about were services that they already covered. With the support of everyone at Fives, and our favorite catering hall, my husband had a 4 hour cocktail hour, with an open bar and 1/2 hour service in the middle to honor what an amazing individual he was. His cards quoted the man directly saying, "When I go, don't stick me in a box and put me on display. Just burn me and have a party." followed by If I touched your life in some way, I hope it was in a way that made it better. Fives and everyone there made a bad time of our lives better. Walking through the parking lot it started to rain again, one of those slow and musty New York rains that has a certain meanness to it that ya just can't define. And it gave the parking lot an oily greasy look to the blacktop pavement and the street beyond had an unhealthy glow. This young man, three years my junior, brought me eggplant parmesan every week because I told him how much I loved his. He did use three chesses Locatelli Romano, Parmesan and Granna Padanna, delivered hot to my door. He wrote my mother one of the most sincere Get Well letters years ago after she had sustained an injury. To kneel up upon him was about as sad as I've been in a good while, my female friend was flowing like Niagra, not a dry eye in the house, but enough of this. If cremation wasn't my choice, you can be rest assured that I'd be a handsome and proud corpse in any coffin within the walls of this beautiful funeral home, it didn't smack of sadness, the paintings, the six foot oval in wall fish tank, flowing staircases, ornate carpeting. Then to enjoy watching from above ground (maybe below, not completely sure about that just yet) my pictures being fingered and smiled at by my loved ones -- laughing and crying with my favorite music playing throughout. Lots of the Greatful Dead was strumming away with words that glow on this sad evening. My family owns a bunch of plots atop a beautiful hill with a variety of trees and they aren't thrilled of "that crazy cremation idea of yours" anyone wanna buy a grave? I'll hook you up -- but then your stuck with my family for eternity and I can assure you, that probably ain't no picnic. I am beginning to rethink this decision and it's in part due to Branch's modern touch. One wide and long room dwarfed any of the Brooklyn and Queens showing rooms, appropriate social distancing, cards to write find memories of the deceased.
